Chapter 23: Ch 23 Eternal Frost heart.

Dual Cultivation: Infinite Comprehension with Dual Cultivation Manual

Wan Ling returned to his quarters.

As he entered his cozy domain he was suddenly overcome with a sense of nostalgia.

He had been gone for five days which wasn’t a alot given his lifespan but being back filled him with incredible happiness.

So the first thing he did was recklessly throw himself into his bed and roll about it like a helpless romantic.

After minutes of doing that, he sighed and rose up, his expression turning serious.

"Now it’s time for the main deal." He sighed and went on to sit on his Cultivation mat.

He had comprehended the bloodline and special constitution of the Frost hearted Bai clan.

If he used it.

He would have a high affinity for frost and it would serve a useful power and a reliable trump card.

His battle with Li Wei had taught him that while he had grown stronger he still wasn’t invincible.

They were people like Chen Yu whom he could defeat with ease but Li Wei despite his nasty personality wasn’t someone he was quite ready to challenge.

Even after his recent growth he still wasn’t certain he would win even if he fought with his all which was an annoyance for Wan Ling.

" If I can’t defeat someone like Li Wei, how do I hope to take back what Uncle stole from us?" He grimaced remembering the tyrannical pressure his uncle had released upon disowning him and his siblings ten years ago.

That pressure had extended beyond the Moon country and just remembering it gave him goosebumps.

"I will become stronger." He promised himself and quickly summoned the System.

The notification of having comprehended the Frost Heart reappeared and this time, Wan Ling was left with his finger hovering on the yes option.

Praying it wouldn’t be as painful as he thought, he clicked on it and instantly his blood ran cold.

Wan Ling’s expression quickly turned pale as he found himself grabbing a nearby blanket to cover his body in search of warmth but it wasn’t enough.

What he was feeling was akin to swimming in the ocean during winter except it was further amplified and all he could do was shake from the chill.

Of course the worst had yet to calm as his skin began to pulse a blue colour while layers of ice shrouded his body, slowly freezing him up.

"Fuck!" He cursed as it climbed up and up till he was frozen solid.

When Wan Ling came to be, he was standing within a snowy storm.

The wind whistled violently, carrying with them grains of snow that swirled into a distant vortex.

Wan Ling blinked in confusion wondering how he ended up here since he remembered passing out in his quarters but now stood on what seemed to be a snowy valley with the distant peaks of towering mountain slightly visible.

"Where am I?" He wondered and tried to move but he heard something crack.

He then looked down and noticed his legs shrouded in icy layers.

One of these layers had been broken and with that, his Left leg was taken along.

"Well that was unfortunate!" He muttered calmly not knowing how to feel.

He had lost a long but his situation was too confusing to make sense of how dire everything was.

[This is a land of illusion. One’s truth is one’s mind.]

A voice calmly whispered causing Wan Ling to flinch.

"Anyone here?" He shouted for help.

[Not anyone but anything]

A powerful surge of Qi exploded throughout the valley resulting in an avalanche that twisted into a tsunami of snow.

It raced towards Wan Ling who quickly tried to flee only for his other legs to shatter, sending him crashing into the ground.

Growling in pain he looked back, the enormous shadow of the avalanche looming over his figure before....

[Modern Cultivator truly don’t listen]

A man, a pale man stepped in front of him and raised his hand towards the avalanche.

" Who are you?" Wan Ling blinked and the man merely smiled.

[The time for listening has passed just observe]

He stated as his right hand made contact with the avalanche but instead of being swallowed by it, it halted completely and with a flick of his hand, completely shattered it and everything that stretched for hundreds of miles.

Wan Ling’s eyes flicked with disbelief as he tried comprehending what he had just seen but...

" Argh!"

He was left growling as a powerful headache assaulted his brain.

[You aren’t quite at the level to mimic a god.]

The man crouched next to Wan Ling who could barely open his eyes due to the pains tearing through his mind.

[You have quite a long way to go boy.]

He remarked and tapped Wan Ling in the head.

A chilling cold spread through his skull as the pain began to slowly dim and his vision began returning to him.

[Normally I would kill thieves but the generation I’ve left is quite lacking so I guess I’ll give you something that motivates them.]

When his sights finally returned, he observed a gorgeous man with flowing white hair and striking blue eyes smiling at him.

Wan Ling was perplexed but he didn’t dare say anything.

The man, despite how friendly he looked, had a terrifying air to him, one that made his uncle look like a bug.

Understanding it would be suicide to mess with him, Wan Ling kept his silence while the man continued.

[My bloodline and a special gift but I want something in return and yes you are given my permission to speak]

"What do you want me to do?" Wan Ling asked, trying his best but to stumble.

[Shouldn’t you ask who I am before asking what I want?]

"Then please enlighten me who you are?"

The pale man smiled at him and shook his head.

[History will tell you who I am.]

"I see." Wan Ling nodded and sat up.

The man also rose and placed his hands within the pocket of his trousers.

[Eitherway boy, it seems time is not on our side.]

He stated as an encroaching darkness filled the world.

Wan Ling noticed this and had his eyes widened in bewilderment before looking up at the pale man.

"You wanted me to do something. What is it?" He urged but the man sighed, almost bored.

[You’re too weak for that. I’ll tell you if you can sustain my existence for more than an hour.]

After saying that he turned his back to Wan Ling and walked off to the distance where he was soon devoured by the darkness...the same darkness that took away Wan Ling’s consciousness.
