[POV: Saiki]

While I was dodging the green wolf's attacks, I tried to counterattack several times, but its agility was far too high.

My attacks were slow compared to its attacks.Full novel: DxD: The Gamer with a Pocket Hunting Dimension — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Although I managed to dodge most of its attacks, I started taking damage. I've already lost more than 200 HP.

I intended to drink a healing potion, but I changed my mind.

A plan began to form in my head while I was fleeing.

[You obtained 1 WIS.]

'Looks like even the system approved my plan.' I thought.

With the green wolf chasing me, I caught the scent of a rabbit.

If the green wolf gives up, that's fine, but if it keeps chasing me and I level up, my chance of winning increases.

To my "luck," the green wolf continued to chase and attack me.

I had to put in maximum effort like never before to manage to dodge every time.

[You lost 511 HP!]

"Urgh...!"

A wind blade hit my back.

Since I'm a "game character," I only lost HP, but it still hurt a lot.

I accelerated even more, not caring about the MP cost.

Opening the inventory, I pulled out the lumberjack axe from inside.

When I spotted a large white rabbit hopping away to escape, perhaps sensing the danger, I ran even faster.

With the axe raised, as soon as I got very close, I attacked.

[Critical Damage!]

[You inflicted 4,295 damage]

[You obtained 688 EXP.]

[Level Up!]

My HP and MP were restored.

Immediately, I opened the status and distributed my points.

[Luck]: 48 → 53

[The skill [Friend of Luck] was created because you possess LUK greater than 50.]

[Friend of Luck (Passive) – Maximum Level]

[A skill given to those who possess great luck.]

[Increases 10% chance of finding treasure.]

[+20 Luck.]

[10% increase in critical chance.]

[10% increase in evasion.]

[30% increase in the rate of obtaining good items.]

It wasn't just any skill I obtained. In fact, this changes everything!

With this, I have a total of 73 luck.

How useful can this be? I'll find out now.

Jumping forward, I picked up the orbs, doing a somersault, I also grabbed the piece of meat and stored it in the inventory.

I even saw the green wolf's greed for the rabbit meat when it saw it, but even greedy, it didn't dare come down.

'Can I try using this to create a trap?'

With another green wolf maybe, but this one seemed hard to trick now.

Next time, maybe even mixing poison, or at least a very strong pepper with rabbit meat is possible, but of course, it won't be done with a very large piece. I don't want to use bluefin tuna to hunt a shark. It wasn't a fair trade.

Whoosh!

Seeing that, I didn't hesitate and advanced instead of retreating.

Pointing the hand with the Spiritual Ring, I activated the skill.

<Mental Attack>!

[You inflicted 1,568 damage]

That attack had no visible means of defense; only a powerful mental defense would be able to come out unscathed.

Seeing the damage rise and the green wolf's life drop, I was glad, but just as I imagined, even with a high damage value, it was far from being significant.

It didn't even reduce 20% of the green wolf's life.

'Fuck! Is this a damn boss by any chance? How much HP does this wolf have?'

It wasn't even enough to make the green wolf come down.

<Energy Bolt>!

I fired an energy sphere consuming 100 MP, but even a bit dizzy from the mental attack, the wolf dodged and responded by attacking with several wind blades at the same time.

It looked like a rain of wind blades.

'Looks like I enraged it...'

My brain processed my options quickly; in the end, there was no way to dodge so many wind blades.

It was then that an idea formed in my mind.

Extending both my hands forward, I created a mana wall.

[A skill was created through a special action]

[Mana Shield (Active) Lv.1 EXP: 00.00 / MP:30]

[One of the most basic defensive techniques that use mana.]

[Effect]: Blocks a portion of the impact.

[50 additional MP used per minute]

Without hesitating, I created five layers of shield.

CRACK!

The first shield shattered as soon as it was hit, but it couldn't stop the wind blade that continued and hit the second, then the third, until it reached the fourth shield.

When I thought of releasing the breath I was holding, the green wolf created another rain of wind blades, without giving me a chance to breathe.

I continued creating mana shields while trying to escape, but the green wolf predicted my movements, attacking whenever I moved.

CRACK!

CRACK!

CRACK!

CRACK!

While my shields were being shattered, my MP continued to decrease, increasing my worry.

'Fuck it! This damn wolf is too annoying! And how much power does it still have?'

I was frustrated.

This damn wolf kept attacking without giving any sign of weakness for me to exploit.

And I could only stay on the defensive since it started shooting several wind blades at once.

[The level of <Mana Shield> increased.]

The cost to create the mana shield decreased and although the shields I started creating became stronger, they still continued to be shattered by the wind blades.

'Will I die?'

I didn't want that, even knowing that I would only die inside the PhD and would appear back outside.

Even while creating mana shields, my mind kept working.

That was when I changed strategy.

I just needed to get out of the cornered state the green wolf had put me in.

It was then that I created layers of shields around my body.

I made a total of five layers, without forgetting to make shield walls to protect myself for now.

As soon as I finished the preparations, I created another 4 mana shields.

At the sound of the first shield shattering, I started running.

When I did, the green wolf still flying began following me, shooting wind blades in my direction.

[MP]: 10/990

'I only have a few seconds before the shields disappear, or are destroyed by the green wolf.' I thought: 'My best option is to find rabbits and level up again.'

'Huh? Why did it suddenly get dark?'

Even the green wolf stopped shooting wind blades in my direction.

When I looked back, my heart froze.

"D-Dragon?!"

That colossal existence simply emitted enormous pressure and the green wolf was sent to the ground.

Not only it, my shields were destroyed, my legs weakened and I found myself on my knees with blood flowing from my nose, ears and mouth.

My HP decreased very quickly, almost reaching zero, the pressure disappeared.

My vision started to get blurry, but I persisted.

Opening my inventory, I pulled out a potion.

After drinking, my life increased by 200.

Standing up, I could no longer see the red dragon from before.

'Did I survive this disaster?'

I found it hard to believe.

'That wolf... Did it die?'

I wanted to see with my own eyes.

Pulling out my bow and arrow, I went toward the scent of the green wolf's blood that I was smelling.

At the same time, I cleaned my own blood by taking a handkerchief from inside the inventory.

Then, I took a bottle of water and drank.

This not only relieved my thirst, it also recovered a little of my HP and MP, but only a little bit.

When I got very close to the smell of blood, I saw the green wolf in a pool of blood.

My eyes shone with happiness.

Discarding the water bottle, I pulled an arrow.

After aiming well, I fired.

The arrow emitted a silent whistle.

[You inflicted 965 damage]

[You obtained 34,465 EXP.]

[Level Up!]

[The level of <Bow Mastery> increased.]

The green wolf was transformed into powder, leaving behind orbs of light.

'Hahaha! In the end I was the one who came out victorious!'

Although it was because of my good luck that a red dragon was passing by and its pressure did most of the work, still, it doesn't change the fact that I achieved a great accomplishment this time.

Afraid that some external factor would appear and I would lose my spoils, I approached where the wolf had been before.

When I got very close, I saw five red orbs of intense light, also 3 purple ones, as well as one of glass with green light in the center.

I collected everything.

Only when I did that did I relax and sit on the ground.

"Hahahaha!"

I started laughing.

I was very happy.

I really thought I was going to die this time.
