Everyone was taken aback by Zach’s declaration that he would be a hero.
Fred was the first to speak up.
“Let me get this straight: you want to be an heir to the company, a school counselor, and a hero?” Zach nodded his head.
Fred put his head on the table before looking up.
“What I am hearing is that you want us to do all the work and you just sit back and look pretty?
If so, then no!” He slammed his hand on the table.
“Not a chance is that gonna happen.
One, because that is a lot.
You’re not invincible.
Two, you must have something to do with the company; you can do IT for all I care.
Three, why a school counselor?
And most importantly, why do you want to be a hero?”
Zach was amused as he watched and listened to Fred explain his reasoning.
His head was resting in his hand.
Fred stopped and looked around.
Blair couldn’t contain herself and laughed.
Fred’s face turned red as he realized he had been played.
“Hahhaa, very funny.” He slumped in his chair.
Zach smiled.
“I couldn’t help it, Fred, you are just too easy.” Fred huffed.
“So what are you actually going to do?” Zach wiped his tears before speaking.
“I was serious about the school counselor and hero thing.
As for the company, I like your suggestion of IT work.
I didn’t think about the IT department.”
He looked around at the people gathered around the table.
“Listen, this will be taking place years from now.
The jobs and titles can always be moved around.
Right now, the groundwork needs to be completed.
That’s getting funds, talking about retiring, or thinking a change of scenery would be nice.”
The adults nodded along as they understood where he was going with this.
“Now that’s been taken care of, I wanna hear about your powers.
We can start with Mr.
and Mrs.
Dezmond and work our way around the table.” Zach took out his journal and a pen.
David coughed a little before speaking.
“I received the talent called [Harvest].
It lets me harvest ten times as much as I do.
If I practice a language for 2 hours, then I harvest 20 hours of experience.
I also have something called [All Speak].
I also received a technique called [Double].
It lets me create a double of myself.”
Zach wrote it down and gestured for the next person to speak.
Phobe looked at her screen and read it out loud.
“I have [All Speak] and a talent called [Detective].
[Detective] lets me deduce solutions to my problems, gives me heightened senses, and gives me an extra sense.
I’m not sure what the extra sense is or does.”
George went next.
[Center Mass] is a talent focusing on hitting, strengthening, and weakening the center mass of a person or object.
[Critical Hit] makes every hit I land critical unless I am weaker than my opponent or I choose not to hit them with a critical blow.”
Zach nodded.
“It seems like [All Speak] is something everyone will get by default.” Everyone nodded their heads.
“Please continue,” Lily spoke up next.
“I have a talent called [Identification] and a technique called [Prison Warden].
[Identification] lets me identify anything, provided it is not hidden or tampered with.
[Prison Warden] allows me to mark someone as a prisoner and seal them in a space that I control.
The people I seal must be criminals, weaker than me, and I can only hold up to three people at this time.”
Zach stopped writing and looked at her.
Fred had to shake him.
“Sorry.
I am just taken aback.
Your technique is enviable.
Is there anything else you want to add?”
“The people I seal or imprison are able to get out if they atone or repent for their crimes.
I can also initiate something called true judgment.
It judges the prisoners and determines whether they should die, be tortured, or imprisoned.
I have no control over it, though.”
Everyone sucked in air.
“Is there a way to increase the number of prisoners you can hold?” Nyla asked, intrigued.
Lily checked and nodded.
“If I have a building or something called a realm, then I can hold as many people as that place is able to account for.”
Zach’s eyes gleamed.
‘The formation was blessed, and it got bigger.
I can add three more floors at the most.’ “What if I gave you an entire floor to hold people?
Would that count?”
Lily shook her head.
“It has to be completely owned by me and no one else.” Zach smacked his lips and looked at his dad.
Jared grinned.
“I got the talent called [Insight] and a technique called [Aura Manipulation].
[Insight] grants me the ability to comprehend anything as long as I have a basic understanding of it myself.
I can’t just watch someone craft a sword and replicate it; I have to learn or be taught before [Insight] kicks in.
[Aura Manipulation] is some form of energy, from what I can gather.
It doesn’t teach or show me how to use it in combat, though.”
Nyla didn’t wait and went next.
“I got three things: a talent, two techniques, and a title.” Fred and Zach’s eyes snapped to each other before looking at her.
She saw the serious look on their faces.
“It’s the title, isn’t it?
Is something I should be worried about?” Zach and Fred looked at each other again.
Fred looked away and played with his fingers.
Zach looked at her before speaking.
“…Titles are not easy to get and are especially powerful.
We will talk about them later.”
Nyla nodded and explained the technique and talent she had.
“The talent I got is called [True Sight], and the techniques are: [Aura Manipulation] and [Contracting].
[True Sight] grants me the ability to see everything that is hidden or unknown.
Like hidden lies, traps, or spirits.” [Contracting] allows me to form contracts with people or objects and summon them at my will.”
Zach finished writing everything down.
“Mommy, is it time to go home?” Zach smiled softly.
“Sure is, Piper, we have talked enough.
We will meet once a week and discuss different topics or concerns.
You are free to come and go as you please.
Nothing leaves the Sanctuary.
If you want a weapon, then message me before taking it.”
Zach passed David’s and Phobe’s phones back to them.
“Leave all tech at your houses before coming here.” They nodded and left.
Fred left with his family, too.
Soon it was just Zach and his parents.
Nyla went straight to business.
“My title is [Spiritual Wayseeker].
A wayseeker normally someone who finds their own course or path to walk.
They explore the unknown and don’t really follow the rules.
They are also known to be independent, don’t team up or work well with others.”
Zach nodded and sighed.
“What abilities did you get?” Nyla told him.
“My title grants me the authority to control, see, guide, and use spirits as I please, so long as my own spirit or soul is stronger than theirs.
I am also able to take on qualities or characteristics of the spirits I contract.”
Jared and Zach shivered.
Jared, because he thought of ghosts and demons.
He had heard stories about them from Nyla and her mother before they stopped speaking.
Zach, because of the sheer scale of her powers.
Zach had the spiritual element, so he could do the same if he learned the right technique or put his mind to it.
The difference lay in the ease of the two.
Zach’s soul was stronger than hers because of his past life, but that wouldn’t last for very long.
‘I should get a technique to increase my soul’s strength.’
Nyla looked at Zach.
“You have a title as well, don’t you?
If you don’t mind, can you tell me how and what your trial was?” Zach awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck.
“I have a title called [Elemental Prodigy].
I am able to control every single element, any techniques that have an element incorporated, I can learn with ease, and I am able to come up with any techniques that deal with the elements.”
Jared and Nyla were shocked.
Jared sighed and shook his head.
“I don’t know who is more broken, you or your mother.” Zach laughed.
“Dad, your abilities are broken, too.
You can learn anything as long as you have a fundamental understanding.
I bet you can solve the GDA teleportation problem if a scientist explains it to you.”
Jared paused and laughed.
“I guess you are right!” Nyla crossed her arms as she watched them laugh.
She shook her head and interrupted them.
“Alright, alright.
It’s time for us to go.
Zach, you should come up with rules and explain them at the next meeting.”
Jared nodded.
“I will help you make them and prevent people from trying to use loopholes.” Zach nodded and said his thanks.
They then left together and went to sleep at home.
