– Teaching of the Black Marsh

The Black Marsh never slept.

Its rivers whispered with venom.

Its flowers bloomed with poison.

Even the morning dew could steal a careless traveler’s life.

To outsiders…

It was a cursed land.

To the Poison Tribe…

It was home.

…

Three years passed.

The infant who had survived the fall of the Longfang Tribe was no longer a baby.

He was a quiet child with unusually calm eyes.

His name was Zhao Long.

Unlike the other children, he rarely cried.

He watched.

He listened.

He remembered.

Every night he dreamt of two worlds.

One filled with towering buildings and forgotten streets.

The other filled with endless wars and burning kingdoms.

Neither world had shown him mercy.

So he decided…

He would show mercy only when it served a purpose.

…

“Again.”

The elderly woman, whom everyone called Grandmother Wu, threw a handful of herbs onto the ground.

“There are twelve.”

“Separate the poisonous from the medicinal.”

The children rushed forward.

Some guessed.

Some argued.

Only Zhao Long crouched quietly.

He picked up each leaf.

Smelled it.

Rubbed it between his fingers.

Then arranged them into two neat piles.

Grandmother Wu nodded.

“Correct.”

The other children stared in disbelief.

“How did you know?”

Zhao Long simply smiled.

“I listened when Grandmother taught us.”

That was only half the truth.

In his previous life, he had learned that observation was often more valuable than talent.

…

Months became years.

At five years old, Zhao Long could identify hundreds of herbs.

He learned how to track animals without leaving footprints.

How to survive on roots and insects.

How to detect poison in water by watching the smallest fish.

How to remain perfectly still for hours while hunting.

The Poison Tribe taught him that survival belonged not to the strongest…

But to the most patient.

…

One afternoon, Grandmother Wu took him to the top of a cliff overlooking the endless marshes.

“Tell me, child.”

“What do you see?”

“The forest.”

“The river.”

“The mountains.”

She shook her head.

“You are looking.”

“You are not seeing.”

She pointed toward the distant horizon.

“What do you truly see?”

Zhao Long remained silent for a long time.

Finally, he answered.

“I see roads.”

Grandmother Wu raised an eyebrow.

“There are no roads.”

“There will be.”

“I see villages.”

“There are none.”

“There will be.”

“I see armies marching.”

“I see banners flying.”

“I see kingdoms fighting until only one remains.”

The old woman stared at him.

For the first time in decades…

She felt a chill.

This child was not imagining the future.

He was planning it.

She asked quietly,

“And who will rule this final kingdom?”

Zhao Long’s answer was simple.

“The one who understands people better than anyone else.”

Not…

“The strongest.”

Not…

“The greatest martial artist.”

The old woman smiled.

At last…

She understood.

The mountain had not sent them a warrior.

It had sent them…

A ruler.

Far away, beyond the poisoned forests, kings sharpened their swords.

None of them knew that a child in the Black Marsh had already begun studying the art of conquering the world.
