Chapter 13 – Foundation

Empire of Blood

Jack remained near the core for a short while before interacting with it again, allowing his breathing to settle and his body to stabilize. The absence of pressure inside the chamber made it easier to think clearly, and for the first time since entering the dungeon, he wasn’t reacting to something trying to kill him.

He stepped forward and placed his hand against the core.

The system responded immediately.

[Core Interface Accessed]

Then—

[Dungeon Subjugated]

A brief pause followed before additional lines appeared.

[Title Earned: Dungeoneer I]

Effect: +1 to all attributes

[Title Earned: Dungeon Pioneer]

Effect: +3 to all attributes

Condition: First individual to clear a dungeon

Jack read through both lines carefully, then nodded once. The increase settled into him almost immediately. It wasn’t overwhelming, but it was clear. Every attribute lifted evenly, including the ones he hadn’t invested in directly.

Balanced.

Reliable.

The system continued.

[Reward: Pylon of Civil Action Acquired]

[Reward: Storage Necklace (Epic)]

Effect: +10 Vitality, +10 Endurance

Function: Linked storage space

A necklace formed beside the core.

Jack picked it up and turned it slightly in his hand. The design was simple, nothing decorative, but it carried the same precise presence as everything the system produced.

He put it on.

The stat increase settled in immediately, his breathing easing as the added Vitality and Endurance took effect, but that wasn’t what held his attention.

The storage.

He focused on the necklace.

There was a moment of resistance—not physical, but mental—like trying to access something just outside normal perception.

Then it opened.

Not visually.

He didn’t see a space in front of him.

Instead, he felt it.

A contained area, separate from the world but connected to him through the necklace. Empty. Defined. Waiting.

“…Alright.”

Jack reached down and picked up a loose stone from the ground.

He held it for a second, then focused again, directing the intent toward the space.

The stone vanished.

No flash. No distortion.

Just gone.

He paused, then reached for it again.

It returned instantly to his hand.

Clean.

Immediate.

No delay.

He tested it again, this time with his old blade.

Stored.

Retrieved.

Same result.

Efficient.

He glanced down at the scythe, then considered briefly before leaving it where it was. That wasn’t something he wanted out of reach, even if retrieval was instant.

Still—

That changed things.

Inventory without weight.

No need to carry everything physically.

No loss of mobility.

Jack nodded once.

“Useful.”

Another line appeared.

[Unique Reward Available]

[Accessible Through Core]

Jack focused.

“Yes.”

[Unique Reward Granted]

[Profession Unlocked: First Principle City Lord]

He read the description carefully.

[First Principle City Lord — F-Grade]

Establishes foundational authority over claimed territory.

Enhances structural development, population stability, and resource efficiency.

Scales with controlled land and active governance.

Jack exhaled quietly.

“…That fits.”

Everything so far had been about surviving in small, controlled spaces.

This extended that.

He accepted the profession.

After stepping back from the core, he moved to the edge of the chamber and sat down again, taking the time to properly stabilize. The wounds were still there, but the increased Vitality and Endurance made the recovery manageable. The bleeding had fully stopped now, and the lingering strain had reduced to something he could work through without risking collapse.

He adjusted the bandages one final time, ensuring nothing would reopen the moment he started moving again.

Then he opened his status.

Jack reviewed everything once more, this time with a clearer understanding of how the system was structuring his growth.

The necklace had already proven its value.

The titles had balanced his weaker attributes.

The profession—

That would matter later.

He looked at the free points.

Nine.

Same pattern.

This time, the allocation was immediate.

Five into Vitality.

Three into Strength.

One into Endurance.

The interface updated.

Vitality: 43 (+10)

Strength: 29

Endurance: 32 (+10)

The effect settled in cleanly.

Stable.

Sustainable.

That was what mattered now.

Another notification appeared.

[Class Milestone Reached — Level 10]

[New Skill Selection Available]

[Select One Skill]

Crimson Extension

Coagulation Control

Predatory Flow

Jack reviewed them once more, though the decision remained the same.

He selected Coagulation Control.

The effect layered in immediately, reinforcing what he already relied on.

Reliable.

He stood.

The chamber remained quiet.

The core inactive.

There was nothing left to take here.

He returned to it one final time.

“Exit.”

[Dungeon Exit Initiated]

The chamber dissolved.

The forest returned.

Jack stood on solid ground again, the open air replacing the enclosed pressure of the dungeon. The entrance behind him was gone, leaving only trees and natural terrain.

He adjusted the scythe at his side, then shifted slightly as he tested the necklace once more, storing and retrieving a small object without breaking his stance.

Seamless.
