“Entering planet atmosphere code name T1-04,” Evie announced calmly.
With her mind fully synchronized with the Voyager and the Atlas System, Evie remotely controlled the vessel with effortless precision. She doesn’t even need to be physically present in the cockpit.
Piercing through the upper atmosphere, the ship shuddered for a few seconds before quickly stabilizing as the inertial dampeners kicked in. From the cold blackness of space, the Voyager was relatively small. But as it descended toward the planet, it became a gargantuan shadow, a sleek, menacing silhouette dominating the sky.
At the rear of the ship, the massive modified mech hangar hummed with activity. Rows of planetary combat mechs stood ready for deployment. Evie’s attention focused on one in particular as she watched Kyndris enter the sleek twenty-meter-tall Black Type-1 Striker.
“We’ve received the go-signal from the Commander,” Evie said over the comms, her voice calm and professional.
“Initial scans indicate hazardous levels of radiation across the surface. The planet’s oceans, lakes, and rivers consist of highly acidic water, while atmospheric conditions generate corrosive rainfall. The atmosphere itself contains several reactive compounds that can damage unprotected equipment. However, your mech is equipped with specialized multi-layered shielding and atmospheric filtration. You’ll be completely safe inside. Just stay sealed.”
The cockpit canopy sealed shut with a metallic hiss as Kyndris settled into the pilot seat. Blue holographic displays flickered to life around her, projecting navigation data, environmental readings, and mech diagnostics directly into her field of view.
Meanwhile, Evie turned and made her way out of the hangar. Although she could remotely control the Voyager from anywhere aboard the ship through her synchronization with the Atlas System, she preferred overseeing operations from the bridge during deployments.
“This particular mech is a specialized striker configuration,” Evie continued as she walked toward the ship's command deck.
“It features high-mobility auxiliary thrusters, a primary assault autocannon rifle, an advanced focused energy blade mounted on the right arm, and a shoulder-mounted heavy howitzer cannon for long-range firepower.”
“Defensive capabilities are Tier-1 energy shielding and Tier-1 specialized mech plating. You do have a nanite auto-repair system, but it’s not unlimited. Be careful about getting too close to enemies. This mech excels in hit-and-run strikes, not prolonged frontline brawling.”
At this time, Kyndris flexed the mech’s fingers experimentally. The massive 20-meter-tall Type-1 Striker Mech responded instantly, its articulated black hands opening and closing with smooth, precise mechanical grace. Beneath the heavy armor plating, thousands of synthetic muscle fibers and neural actuators moved in perfect sync with her thoughts.
“Control response looks good,” Kyndris reported calmly through the comms. The mech piloting module was already standardized across Atlas units, making the controls immediately familiar.
Kyndris rolled the mech’s shoulders and took a few slow, heavy steps forward inside the hangar. The floor plating vibrated slightly under the machine’s weight. Every movement felt responsive and natural, almost like an extension of her own body.
Evie’s voice came back through the link, sounding satisfied.
“Neural synchronization is at 100%. You’re fully synced, Kyn.”
“Eve, where’s the fight?” Kyndris asked, her voice steady inside the cockpit.
Evie’s reply came through the comms almost immediately.
“Down below us,” Evie replied. “We entered the atmosphere directly above the hot zone. I’ll be deploying the artillery and defender-type mech around the perimeter and providing overwatch. I’ll have eyes on you the entire time.”
With a heavy mechanical groan, the massive hangar hatch beneath Kyndris’s mech slowly opened. Violent, howling winds immediately rushed upward, screaming through the opening like a thousand angry spirits. The toxic atmosphere of T1-04 battered against the Type-1 Striker Mech’s armor with visible force.
Kyndris’s Type-1 Striker Mech took another heavy step forward onto the deployment platform. The mech’s frame vibrated intensely as the platform locked into position. Through the open hatch, the hellish world below churned violently, thick greenish-gray clouds swirled like living smoke, and massive lightning bolts cracked across the sky, illuminating oceans of glowing, poisonous violet and crimson.
One by one, the artillery and defensive mechs were dropped from the ship, their thrusters flaring brightly as they descended toward the surface.
“The target is a Darken Spawn,” Evie continued.
“There are many variants, but this one is classified as a Giant-Type.”
“Then, let’s not keep it waiting,” Kyndris replied, a faint predatory edge creeping into her voice.
“As you wish,” Evie replied smoothly. “Dropping you now.”
The moment she finished speaking, the deployment platform released with a heavy clunk.
Kyndris felt a powerful lurch as the Type-1 Striker Mech plummeted from the ship, plunging straight into the violent atmosphere of T1-04. Even with the mech’s advanced inertial dampeners and gravitational stabilizers, the descent was brutal. The cockpit vibrated intensely as the 20-meter machine tore through thick layers of corrosive greenish-gray clouds and raging turbulence.
Her body was pressed firmly back into the contoured pilot seat by the strong G-forces. The tight, form-fitting pilot suit clung to her like a second skin, accentuating every curve of her body. With each violent shake and jolt of the mech, her full breasts bounced and shifted heavily inside the suit.
The Type-1 Striker Mech ripped through the toxic cloud layer, leaving a blazing trail of ionized air behind it. Its auxiliary thrusters fired in controlled bursts, stabilizing the descent with heavy, bone-rattling thuds that resonated through the cockpit.
The Striker Mech’s thrusters flared brightly as it slowed its descent at the last moment, landing with a thunderous boom on the blackened, cracked earth. The impact sent a shockwave rippling outward, kicking up clouds of toxic dust and acidic mist.
Kyndris exhaled slowly, her hands gripping the controls.
“Landing confirmed,” she reported.
Evie’s voice came through the comms immediately.
“Sending you the visual now. We’ll start the attack at your signal.”
A large holographic display materialized in front of Kyndris inside the cockpit. The image sharpened, revealing the true horror waiting for them.
The creature was massive.
Standing over 80 meters tall, the giant Darken Spawn towered over the ruined landscape like a living nightmare. Its obsidian-black exoskeleton glistened wetly under the toxic lightning, covered in pulsing violet veins that glowed with corrupt energy. Six enormous, jagged limbs supported its hulking body, each ending in razor-sharp claws capable of shredding through heavy armor. A long, whip-like tail ending in a cluster of bone spikes lashed behind it, cracking the ground with every movement.
Its head was nightmarish, a grotesque fusion of insectoid and draconic features, with multiple glowing red eyes and a gaping maw filled with rows of crystalline teeth that dripped corrosive acid. Massive bony protrusions jutted from its back like jagged spires, crackling with dark energy.
The beast let out a deafening roar that shook the very air itself, sending ripples across the acidic lakes nearby.
The Darken Spawn were the primary galactic monsters of the game, nightmarish creatures that emerged from anomalous rifts scattered across the universe. This particular giant variant was circling a large, exposed Celestium resource node. In its twisted biology, the unique atmospheric particles and exotic molecular matter surrounding the node served as both nourishment and a catalyst, rapidly feeding the creature while mutating its body to better adapt to T1-04’s lethal environment.
Its obsidian exoskeleton pulsed with increasing intensity as it absorbed the glowing energy, growing stronger with every passing minute.
Kyndris had landed several miles away, well outside the giant Darken Spawn’s detection range. Through her holographic screen, she watched the colossal beast intently. A predatory smile slowly spread across her lips.
With a mere thought, she activated the mech’s nanite fabricators. The primary assault autocannon rifle materialized in the Mech’s hands, heavy-caliber barrels forming rapidly as Atlas-Nanites swarmed and shaped themselves into the weapon.
“Fire away, Eve!” Kyndris commanded with bloodlust evident in her voice.
The moment the signal was given, the Mech’s auxiliary thrusters roared to life. The mech burst forward with explosive speed, charging across the toxic wasteland toward the towering monster.
At the same time, a devastating missile barrage erupted from the surrounding artillery mechs under Evie’s control. Dozens of glowing projectiles streaked across the sky like a swarm of angry meteors, all locked onto the giant Darken Spawn.
Following the devastating missile barrage, Kyndris pushed her Mech into high-speed assault mode.
The mech streaked across the toxic landscape in a blur of black and glowing blue thrusters, closing the distance rapidly. As she arrived at the battlefield, the full impact of Evie’s artillery strike unfolded before her eyes.
Huge explosions blossomed across the giant Darken Spawn’s body like fiery flowers of death. Multiple missiles had struck its obsidian exoskeleton, detonating with tremendous force. Chunks of blackened armor were blasted away, revealing pulsing violet flesh underneath. Thick black smoke and corrosive ichor sprayed into the air as the beast staggered backward, its deafening roar now mixed with clear pain and rage.
Kyndris’s cockpit vibrated from the shockwaves even at this range. Through the reinforced viewport, she had a direct, unobstructed view of the chaos.
The colossal monster was wounded, but far from defeated. Several of its jagged limbs were smoking, and large cracks ran across its armored chest. However, the Celestium resource node behind it continued to glow brightly, feeding the creature regenerative energy even as it bled.
“Direct hits confirmed,” Evie reported through the comms, her voice calm but urgent. “It’s hurt, but it’s regenerating fast. I couldn’t locate its core yet. Try to aim for the head! Another barrage will take a minute to recharge.”
Kyndris’s eyes narrowed with predatory focus as she charged forward. She landed the mech in a location where her weapon would be accurate.
She raised the massive assault autocannon rifle. Deep within the weapon, electromagnetic accelerators hummed to life as capacitors charged for firing. Status indicators flickered across her Head-Up Display while the weapon's barrels locked onto the target.
Before Kyndris could pull the trigger, several glowing purple orbs suddenly materialized in the air around the Darken Spawn, pulsing with sinister energy.
“Kyn! Evasive maneuvers!” Evie shouted urgently.
Kyndris reacted instantly. She slammed the thrusters into full reverse while twisting the mech’s torso sharply to the left. The Mech’s auxiliary jets roared as the heavy machine slid sideways with surprising speed and agility.
A split second later, the purple orbs unleashed streaks of blinding straight light.
Explosions of dark energy erupted across the battlefield. The streaks slammed into the ground where she had been standing moments earlier, creating massive craters that melted the toxic earth into bubbling slag. Shockwaves rippled outward, followed by crackling waves of corrosive purple lightning that scorched everything in their path.
Even with her quick dodge, one of the energy beams grazed the Striker’s left shoulder.
The impact jolted the entire mech, throwing Kyndris hard against her pilot seat. The energy shield flared brightly as it absorbed the hit, its surface rippling violently under the strain. Warning indicators flashed across her HUD as shield integrity dropped by nearly ten percent from a single strike.
“Damn it...” she hissed through gritted teeth.
The giant Darken Spawn let out a triumphant roar and began charging toward her, its massive claws tearing through the ground as it closed the distance.
Seeing the wounded giant charge toward her with terrifying momentum, Kyndris reacted instantly.
The Mech's thrusters roared to life as she accelerated backward through the air, maintaining a safe distance while keeping the assault autocannon trained on the advancing monster.
The weapon thundered continuously, spewing a stream of high-caliber explosive rounds into the creature's charging form. Each impact tore chunks of corrupted flesh from its body and detonated in bursts of fire and shrapnel.
At the same time, Kyndris steadily gained altitude, using the Striker's mobility to stay beyond the Darken Spawn's reach while relentlessly pouring fire into the giant beast.
However, the creature’s head remained heavily protected by an incredibly thick layer of obsidian exoskeleton. Even though large patches of its outer armor had been blasted off and its flesh was torn and bleeding, the beast refused to fall.
As Kyndris hovered above the ground, another cluster of glowing purple orbs rapidly formed around the Darken Spawn. They pulsed once before unleashing streaks of blinding purple energy directly at her.
Familiar with the attack, Kyndris moved instantly. She cut her backward thrust, spun the mech mid-air with expert precision, and charged forward aggressively instead. The purple energy beams streaked past her, missing the Striker by mere meters and exploding violently against the toxic ground behind her, creating massive craters of melted earth and rising purple lightning.
Seizing the opening, Kyndris accelerated forward and landed heavily on the giant Darken Spawn’s massive back. The mech’s feet anchored into the creature’s armored hide, anchoring firmly in place.
The giant Darken Spawn was forced to a sudden, skidding halt as Kyndris landed heavily on its back. The impact made the colossal beast stumble forward several steps before it could regain its balance.
Kyndris didn’t waste a single second. She activated the focused energy blade on the Striker’s right arm. The weapon ignited with a brilliant cyan glow as a long, vibrating blade of superheated plasma formed. With a powerful downward thrust, she drove the energy blade deep into the monster’s thick exoskeleton, anchoring the mech firmly onto its back and stopping its forward momentum.
Unable to reach or even see the mech now latched onto its upper back, the giant Darken Spawn let out a furious, earth-shaking roar. Its multiple red eyes darted wildly as it tried to locate its prey.
Then, without warning, its entire body began to glow.
A dangerous, pulsating violet light spread rapidly across its obsidian exoskeleton. The glowing Celestium veins beneath its armor flared brighter and brighter, releasing waves of corrupt energy into the air. The temperature around the monster rose sharply as dark energy crackled across its massive frame.
“Kyn, be careful!” Evie warned urgently. “It’s charging some kind of ability! Its energy levels are spiking off the charts!”
Kyndris gripped the controls tighter, her body pressed firmly into the pilot seat from the violent movements. A fierce grin appeared on her face.
“Come on then…” she whispered. “Show me what you’ve got.”
At that moment, the giant Darken Spawn exploded!
A massive surge of corrosive violet energy erupted from its body like a living bomb. Kyndris barely had time to react before the shockwave slammed into the Type-1 Striker. The twenty-meter mech was hurled backward through the air, tumbling uncontrollably as waves of glowing, super-acidic fluid blasted outward in every direction.
The Striker was completely engulfed.
WARNING: ENERGY SHIELD FAILURE
Red alarms blared throughout the cockpit as the Tier-1 energy shield absorbed the brunt of the blast before collapsing under the overwhelming corrosive assault. The remaining acid splashed across the mech's armor, causing sections of plating to hiss, smoke, and melt beneath the highly reactive substance.
Fortunately, the shield had done its job, preventing catastrophic damage to the Striker's internal systems.
The Mech continued hurling through the air before finally crashing into the ground nearly a kilometer away. The impact shattered jagged rock formations and carved a deep trench across the blackened terrain. The massive mech bounced once, skidded several hundred meters through acidic mud and shattered stone, and finally came to a grinding halt against a rocky outcrop.
The Atlas nanite auto-repair system activated immediately. Microscopic machines swarmed across the damaged areas, sealing cracks, neutralizing corrosive residue, and rebuilding compromised armor plating. Steam poured from the mech's frame as the nanites fought a constant battle against the acid eating into its surface.
Inside the cockpit, Kyndris was thrown violently against her restraints as the mech slammed into the ground and skidded across the wasteland. Warning icons flooded her HUD while stabilization systems struggled to regain control.
“Tch!” she hissed, her draconic eyes narrowing in irritation.
Although the energy shield had absorbed most of the blast, the impact from the crash still carried through the mech's frame. A wave of dizziness washed over her as her body struggled to recover from the violent tumble.
Outside, the Striker's thrusters sputtered before reigniting, slowly pushing the battered mech back onto its feet amid clouds of steam and acidic smoke.
Evie's voice came through the comms a moment later.
“Kyn! Your shield is down! The acid is extremely potent, the nanites are repairing the damage, but they're being heavily taxed. Retreat for now. I can deploy a replacement mech.”
However, Kyndris didn't have the opportunity to respond.
Beep! Beep!
Warning alerts flashed across Kyndris's HUD, signaling an approaching hostile contact.
Something moved within the corrosive mist.
A massive silhouette emerged from the swirling haze, charging directly toward her position.
Kyndris narrowed her eyes and focused on the radar feed. As long as the target remained on her sensors, she could track its movements.
Suddenly, a warning indicator flashed red.
The hostile contact's velocity spiked.
It was charging.
Without hesitation, Kyndris fired the Mech's maneuvering thrusters. The mech shot sideways just as a massive shape burst from the corrosive mist, tearing through the space where she had been standing moments before.
The creature thundered past her position.
For the first time, Kyndris got a clear look at her attacker.
It was the same Darken Spawn. Despite the explosion, it had survived.
Only now did she realize she had misjudged its size. The creature stood nearly twenty meters tall, its frame roughly matching that of the Mech itself.
Realizing this, Kyndris abandoned any thought of underestimating the creature.
Keeping her distance, she quickly assessed her remaining weapons. The assault autocannon rifle had been lost in the explosion, leaving only the shoulder-mounted heavy howitzer and the energy blade.
The Darken Spawn turned toward her once more. Through the HUD, Kyndris watched its massive frame tense as powerful muscles coiled beneath corrupted flesh.
It was preparing to charge again.
Kyndris raised the howitzer and aligned the targeting reticle with the creature's center of mass.
Then she waited. After fighting it firsthand, she had come to a realization.
Despite its size and terrifying power, it was still just a monster.
It lacked tactics. It lacked patience. It relied on instinct and brute force. Its instincts could be exploited.
This time, the monster lowered its body.
Kyndris waited…
At that moment, the creature exploded forward with terrifying speed. The instant it left the ground, Kyndris pulled the trigger.
BOOM!
The heavy howitzer round struck the Darken Spawn squarely in the chest while it was still airborne. The explosion rocked the creature's body and threw it off balance.
Kyndris didn't hesitate.
The Striker surged forward on roaring thrusters, closing the distance before the monster could recover. Its armored hand shot out and seized the Darken Spawn by the throat, slamming it into the ground.
The advanced energy blade ignited with a brilliant glow.
In a single sweeping strike, she severed one shoulder.
Before the Darken Spawn could recover, Kyndris twisted the blade and unleashed a second slash. The energized edge carved cleanly through the creature's torso, splitting its massive body in half.
With her ability-enhanced focus taking over, Kyndris remained calm as she systematically dissected the Darken Spawn. The energy blade carved through corrupted flesh like a hot knife through butter, each strike precise and deliberate as she searched for the creature's vital core.
As it passed through the creature's neck, she felt a sudden jolt through the mech's controls, a distinct sensation of striking something far denser than flesh.
For a brief moment, the Darken Spawn froze.
Cracks of violet light spread throughout its body before the creature began to collapse. Its flesh rapidly liquefied into black sludge, dissolving into nothingness as the corrupted energy sustaining it unraveled.
Within seconds, nothing remained.
Kyndris exhaled slowly and lowered the energy blade. The heightened focus granted by her ability gradually faded, her thoughts returning to normal.
The enemy signal was gone.
“Kyn, you had me worried for a second. Please try not to get blasted next time,” Evie said over the comms, relief evident in her voice.
“You didn’t tell me it could explode and shrink itself.”
“Because I didn’t know it could,” Evie shot back. “If I had known, I would have led with that.”
Kyndris glanced at the melted sections of armor still being repaired by swarming nanites.
“Would’ve been useful information.”
“Yes, well, next time I'll be sure to include: Warning, may suddenly explode, become smaller, and attempt to kill you in unexpected ways.”
“I appreciate the thoroughness, Eve.”
“You're welcome,” Evie replied.
“On my way to pick you up.”
With the comms turning silent, Kyndris leaned back in her seat and glanced across the devastated landscape. Corrosive storms still raged overhead, lightning flashing through the toxic clouds, but the threat was gone.
The mission was complete.
