Chapter 5 – Unit Spawned!

Eterna Galaxy Online

[MEDICAL STATUS REPORT - SUBJECT: Elven Native]

Condition:Critical

Status:Unconscious

Cause Analysis:High-velocity fall from an elevated cliff, partial deceleration through the forest canopy before ground impact.

Neurological Status:Unresponsive.

Systemic Condition: Advanced hypovolemic shock, Multi-system trauma, Rapid physiological decline, ongoing.

System Limitation Notice: Regeneration capacity is insufficient for critical trauma repair. Stabilization mode sustains vital function only.

Degradation will resume upon exceeding the 30-day threshold

━━━━━━━━━━━

I stood beside the medical pod, its dim light reflecting across the glass surface. Inside, the unconscious elf lay motionless. I now had a closer look. Her features were refined, a smooth, unblemished complexion now pale from blood loss, and long strands of blonde hair spread loosely around her like strands of faded gold.

Her frame was slender, balanced with a natural elegance, her form shaped with soft, proportional curves fitting the same quiet symmetry that defined the rest of her.

The system had repaired most of the external damage. However, internally, her body remained in critical condition. To fix her, I would need to construct the medical bay. However, I would need the research facility first.

I shook my head. I didn't want to do it. But now, there was no choice. I had brought her here, and letting her die was something I wouldn't be able to accept. With the power I had, it would mean nothing but incompetence.

Sighing, I beamed myself back into the base and made my way to the resource facility. The Eterna Energy Converter loomed into view, its core pulsing like a contained furnace, radiating a low, constant hum. Besides the machine, five sets of basic mining equipment rested. I stepped forward and grabbed one of the pickaxes, its weight settling into my grip. It felt unexpectedly light due to my new genetic constitution.

[T1 Mining Pickaxe]

Well, it was time to mine…

The Celestium Ore revealed itself at the end of the tunnel, a cluster of whitish-gold crystalline formations embedded in the rock face. Its surface shimmered faintly, catching the dim tunnel light and reflecting it in soft, metallic hues.

Without delay, I swung with everything I had.

Pang!

…

“You’ve got to be kidding me.”

The impact barely left a few shallow cracks across the surface. The ore didn’t shatter, didn’t even chip properly.

So this was why the commander unit never mined.

I tightened my grip and struck again.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four…

On the fifth hit, the fractures finally spread, and a small chunk snapped free, hitting the ground with a dull clink.

I stared at it for a moment. My breathing was already heavier than expected, each inhale sharp against the quiet tunnel.

Damn it!

━━━━━━━━━━━

By the end of the day, I had only managed to convert 2,500 Eterna Energy.

I leaned back at the habitation chamber bed, exhaustion settling deep into my muscles. I had burned through everything I had and yet… only 2,500.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't skip the basics. More workers first, so we could get this economy running.

I queued up more Atlas Newts, pushing the command again, once, twice, three times,

On the fourth,

Ding!

System Notice: Build more Habitation Chambers!

…

Right.

There had only been five habitation chambers to start with. I had already taken one.

That left four.

And each additional chamber costs 5,000.

Left with 500 Eterna Energy, I exhaled slowly.

Looking around, this habitation chamber felt small. However, everything was arranged with deliberate precision. A narrow sleeping alcove was built into one side, just large enough for a single bed recessed into the wall, with a soft, low-glow panel above it that dimmed with touch.

Beside it, a modest refrigeration unit hummed quietly, its surface smooth and featureless until accessed, preserving whatever supplies the base could provide.

I checked the fridge. Like the one on the ship, it was already stocked with standard starting rations. They were neatly packed and uniform.

I pulled one out.

Tasteless as expected.

Once the research facility was established, food came next.

Sighing, there was a lot to do…

━━━━━━━━━━━

I continued working, pushing through the fatigue, until I had amassed 10,500 Eterna Energy by the time my first unit finally spawned.

I turned toward the production tree.

Along its branches, something had formed, a fruit, if it could even be called that. It hung suspended from the structure, encased in a smooth, scaled shell that shimmered faintly, pulsing like a steady heartbeat beneath its surface.

I watched the countdown reach 0

Ding!

[Unit Production Finished!]

[Please Assign Unit Classification]

I paused for a moment.

Well, there was only one right now that requires a worker.

[Resource Facility [0/5]

[Resource Facility [1/5]

[Classification Assigned!]

[Unit Spawned!]

At that moment, one of the eggs detached from the branch and dropped.

It hit the ground with a sharp crack.

The shell split open, and my first unit emerged.

Small… she carried the proportions of someone young, almost childlike, yet moved with a surprising confidence that made her feel far more present than her size suggested. Her long blonde hair framed her face in soft, uneven strands, catching the light like pale gold. A single stray lock curved upward, stubborn and alive, as if it refused to be tamed. Beneath it, her bright blue eyes shone with a clear, curious energy, wide, expressive, and just a little mischievous.

Two black horns curled upward from her head, ridged and polished like obsidian, giving her silhouette a quiet, dangerous elegance. They contrasted sharply with her soft features, as did the faint scatter of dark scales across her skin, clustered along her shoulders, arms, and thighs like fragments of armor grown rather than worn.

From her back extended a pair of dragon wings, sleek, dark, and slightly oversized for her small frame. Their membranes carried a faint gradient of warm tones, like embers hidden beneath soot. They flexed subtly, never fully still, as though responding to thoughts she hadn’t spoken.

Her outfit told a different story, one of purpose. A slim, fitted worker suit wrapped around her like a second skin, designed with precision rather than ornament. White panels contrasted with broad black and sharp orange accents, forming clean lines that followed her movements. The fabric looked durable, engineered for harsh environments, yet tailored just enough to give her a sense of identity rather than anonymity.

The unit yawned first, stretching as if waking from a long, comfortable sleep.

Then our eyes met. She smiled at me, not boldly, not shyly, but with a quiet, playful confidence. The unit toddled forward, finding her balance before snapping into a crisp salute.

“Greetings, Commander! Reporting for duty!”

I nodded. “I need you in the mine.”

She straightened immediately, the playful edge in her expression sharpening into focus.

“Understood!”

She moved as if she already knew the base's layout. I smiled and checked her unit panel.

[Unnamed Unit]

[Gene Tier: 1]

[Origin: Atlas Newt]

[Genetic Ability: Atlas Physique]

[Unit Classification: Resourcer]

[Bonus: Resource collection efficiency 150%]

Well… since you're my first unit, let's name you Altea.
