REMUS BENNET

Gia’s words hit him like a gunshot, and with that, any hope of keeping this all a secret was gone.

He rushed to her room and saw that it was empty, and immediately he began reaching out to all of Rue’s friends, asking them about her.Full novel: Euphoria SI: The Prince of Grief (Showbiz-SI) — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It took a few minutes for all of them to holler back, but she was not with them.

He texted Fezco, and he promised to call his circle as well.

But with this, he had no choice but to call their mother.

He did not tell her the details about the fight, but he told her the result nonetheless.

He could hear her heart stop over the phone as he told her about Rue’s disappearance.

She wanted to call the Police at once, but he dissuaded her from doing so and asked for a few hours to search for her.

He tasked Gia with reaching out to Rue’s friends to keep checking up on whether she was with them or not, as he ran out of the house and picked up Rue’s old bicycle to cover more ground.

Elliot and Lexie offered to do the same, and so they began searching for her.

An hour passed, and they had nothing, and just as they were about to hit the second hour mark, his phone rang.

It was Fezco, and he felt hope fill him up.

“Do you have her?” he asked without waiting for him.

“Yeah,” Fezco answered, and he gave out a sigh of relief.

“I am taking her to a convenience store. You can meet me there?” and that was good enough.

“Yeah, I will be there in ten minutes,” and with that, he called Gia and their mom, both of whom were much relieved upon hearing the news.

He then cycled to Fezco’s shop, and the older guy was standing there smoking a joint.

“Where is she?” he asked.

“She, in the back,” Fezco answered, and led him to a small room at the back of the shop, and she was a feral mess.

“She went to the other side of town searching for her fix,” and he should have expected nothing less, and it was clearly obvious that she had found it.

“I found this on her,” and he showed me a small plastic bag with a few blue bills.

“What is this?” Fezco shrugged.

“It’s some new shit, kinda like shrooms, but more potent. Still, she should be fine in a couple of hours,” and that was a good thing.

“I know you made me promise not to give her shit, but this is what happens when you do something like this,” and by now Ashtray, Fezco’s younger brother, had joined them from the front.

“You can’t stop a person from getting their hands on this shit. It’s impossible,” and he had hoped that the trouble of it all would dissuade her, but in the end it had only added to their problems.

Despite her condition, she was fine.

But things could have been much worse, and in the end, he would have been the one at fault for all of it.

“Can I borrow your car?” Fezco offered to drop them off.

Both of them carried her to the backseat before the older guy drove towards their home.

Back at home, Leslie had come back from her job, and as she saw their call pull up in the driveway, she reached out along with Gia.

“How is she?” she asked, and he reassured her that she was fine.

Fezco helped him carry her to her room before he raced off.

Remus himself plopped down on the dinner table and began to think about what had just happened.

He could hear her mother’s sobs from her room, and a part of him felt responsible for all this mess.

For all her faults, Rue was smart enough to keep their mother in the dark about her habits.

If he had not intervened as he had, she would have been able to keep up a ruse.

It would have been cruel of her, but in the end, their mother would have been in a much better condition for it.

She came out a few minutes later, with her tears all gone.

She came and sat down beside him, and the two of them said nothing.

“Gia told me about the fight,” and for a second he stilled.

“It’s fine,” he cut in.

“It is not,” Leslie cut in.

“You were just trying to look out for her, and she called you heartless. She should not have done that,” and he reached for his hand and held it tightly.

“I know that I do not say it often, I am grateful to have a son like you,” and he felt his heart ease up.

“I don’t know what to do,” and he was at a loss here.

“It is not your duty to take care of your sister, Remus. You are a child yourself,” and he hated being called a child.

“I am going to be seventeen in a month,” he clarified quickly, and the quickness of his reply made Leslie smile.

“That just proves my point,” and he shook his head.

“No matter the mess she is, Rue is my sister as well. I will always care for her, or at least try to. I just did not think that she would be so desperate that she would skip town just for…,” and he did not know what to do now. Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.

“This is all new to us. Your intentions were right, but Rue can be very stubborn,” and what were they meant to do now?

“She will just have to fight this on her own,” and in the end, they could only ever come to her aid.

This was her battle, and she would have to fight it on her own.

“Go to your room and rest. Let me deal with her,” and so he went up to his room.

It was quite late by then, and he looked at his half-open PC and for a second considered getting up to finish his work, but he gave up on the idea just as quickly.

He was tired, but sleep continued to evade him, so he picked up his phone and sent a text into the group he had set up with Lexie and Elliot.

The two of them were quick to reply, and with that, they made plans for a late-night snack.

He ran downstairs and picked up the keys, and half an hour later, the three of them sat inside a pizza place for a late-night snack.

They asked about Rue, and he gave them the gist of the whole affair.

He told them about the fight and how his computer was fried.

“So, all your work is gone?” Lexie asked, and he shook his head.

“Elliot has the audio files, so I have only lost the video,” he answered as he took a bite of the pie.

“Still, that was hours of work,” and editing was not an easy job.

“We have to take advantage of the momentum. You have to upload the second song soon,” Elliot chimed in, and he was right.

“If the SSD works, then I can finish up the work in a few hours. But if the thing is toast, then we will have to give up on the video thing,” and he could only hope that the memory was salvageable.

“Honestly, today was a fucking mess,” and it could not have been any worse.

“Well, at least this gives you something to talk about with your therapist,” Elliot’s words were no solace to him.

“You are going to therapy?” He glared at his friend for revealing his personal info.

“Against my will,” he answered Lexie.

“The doctors recommended that I see one after the accident. I have an appointment in a few days,” and though he was not looking forward to the session itself, he was looking forward to taking the drive up to Pasadena.

“Well, I don’t know about that. But check this out,” and Elliot scrolled through his phone and showed him his YouTube video page.

“You have already crossed a hundred thousand views here,” and that was huge.

“And look at the comments. People are going mad about your song,” and he reached for his phone and logged into his DistroKid account, where the statistics from all the other sites were aggregated.

The site took a few seconds to load up, and his eyes widened as he saw the number.

“Holy Shit!” he found himself cursing, as both Lexie and Elliot looked at him.

“What happened?” they asked, and he turned the screen towards them, and in a split second their eyes were filled with the same surprise.

“Is this real?” and he nodded.

“Yeah, the tracking is pretty accurate.” Still, he pulled down the page to refresh it, and the next number was even bigger.

“It’s grown,” and now the figure was much closer to 850k.

“Holy shit! You are a legit singer now,” Elliot added, making him frown.

“You said that you believed me, you bastard,” Remus accused, but the tattooed boy simply shrugged.

“Well, saying it is one thing,” and he threw a folded tissue at him, as the three of them laughed in exhilaration.

Still, they had to wrap up their celebrations quickly as the clock neared the damning time of 1 am.

They left the diner in his car, and he dropped off Elliot first, and then Lexie.

But while he was dropping her off, she seemed somewhat hesitant about leaving.

“What is it?” he asked, and she took a few seconds to answer.

“Would you like to come to the party at McKay’s with me?” and he was not expecting that question, and her eyes were trained on his face.

“Sorry, I shouldn’t have aske….”

“You like me don’t you, Lexie,” and it took a second for her face to be filled with a blush.

He had given it some thought over the last few days, and had found himself enjoying himself in the time they spent together.

Both of them had many similar interests.

They were both quite a bit more mature for their age, and were very serious about their futures.

Both of them had been forced to grow up early, and had little expectations from the world around them.

“Yes,” she answered after some hesitation.

“Was it that obvious?” and it was, though he had tried to ignore it hoping that it would all die down.

“No, not really,” he lied for that was the proper thing to do.

“I…” “I…” the two of them spoke up at the same time, and then chuckled at their antics.

“I like you as well, but there is history here,” he pointed towards the two of them.

“Cassie,” she guessed.

“She wouldn’t mind,” Lexie answered, and that was a quick.

“What about Cassie? Everyone knows that we were dating,” he pointed out.

“That was months ago, and she was the one who cheated on you,” and she was indeed.

He thought about it for a second.

“We should give this a try,” and he believed that it was time for him to be a bit selfish, and put himself first.

“Really?” Lexie asked, and he shrugged.

“Sure, why not?” and with that the two of them slowly closed the distance, between then each filled with a different kind of nervous energy before their lips finally met.

It was different than Cassie, and Lexie seemed full of a slight hesitance and nervous energy and so he pulled her closer as he slightly pulled her head towards him, until they were locked together, and lost into one another.

Slowly she eased up, and began pushing back.

By the time the two of them separated they were both hungry for air, and he could taste some blood from his lip.

“Woah,” Lexie spoke in surprise.

“Cassie was right about you. You are a good kisser,” and he made a face at that comment.

“You aren’t bad yourself,” and their eyes locked together, and they went at it again, and by the time Lexie walked through the door of her house, her lipstick was all gone and her heart was bubbling with joy.

In a rather posh neighbourhood of Pasadena, a couple fought in the confines of their room, as they tried to protect their daughter from the trauma of their little fights.

But suddenly the two of them stopped, as the door to their room was pushed open by their young daughter.

“Hey, how many times have we told you to knock?” Tia chastised her daughter, and her face shifted into a smile in the blink of an eye.

“Do you really want to bear the trauma of witnessing how you were conceived?” the middle-aged man countered, as both women made a face.

“Eugh!” Their young daughter made a nauseating expression.

“Did you really have to go there?” Tia cut in, and Jimmy simply shrugged.

“Hey, I am just telling her how things are?” and all three of them laughed, as the girl named Alice jumped onto their bed.

“So, Summer showed me this amazing new song today,” and both Tia and Jimmy made a face at that.

“Oh, so we are having a listening party,” and this was a tradition in their House, for whenever young Alice would discover a new song, she would hop onto their bed and make them listen to it.

“Come on, hit us,” Tia encouraged as the two forgot about their little row from earlier and gave their daughter all their attention.

“So, here it is,” and she hit the play button, and their interests were piqued.

The choice of music was a bit different than their daughter’s usual style, but still they listened with attention, and as soon as they reached the prechorus, the room was filled with a quiet anticipation.

And then the chorus hit, and both Tia and Jimmy were forced to raise their brows at the lyrics and the vocals.

They listened in silence, and when the song finally came to an end, they had nothing to say.

“So, how was it?” Alice asked both her parents, who exchanged glances.

“Well, that was different than your usual choices,” and the girl beamed at that.

“I know, but Summer showed me a clip of it, and I was simply hooked,” she answered excitedly.

“Do you know the singer of the song is just another highschooler like me?” and now they were both surprised.

“Really?” Jimmy asked.

“Yeah. He even wrote the thing himself,” and then she opened up the very clip Summer had shown her.

“This was his first song, and it blew up after a clip of him singing it in a restaurant went viral,” and both Tia and Jimmy leaned onto each other to look at the clip, and though the video was not very clear, the singer was indeed just a boy.

“What’s his name?” Tia questioned her daughter.

“Remus. Remus Bennet….”

A/N: Well, if you can’t guess it, the therapist and his family are not OCs.

They are characters from a show called Shrinking.

It’s one of my favourite shows, though if you haven’s watched it you don’t need to worry at all.
