Lizarius, covered in injuries and still buzzing with residual lightning, slowly walked toward the corpse of the Wind Wolf leader.
*That was bad.*
His yellow eyes remained fixed on the corpse.
*I almost died.*
He reached the corpse and opened his mouth, biting into the flesh and beginning to eat.
After a while, he finished devouring it.
The system announced,
**[You gained 200 Evolution Points and 3 Wind Wolf Gene Points.]**
Lizarius’s injuries began to heal slowly.
He turned toward the corpses of the other Wind Wolves and walked over to them.
One by one, he began devouring them.
After some time, he finished eating.
The system announced,
**[You gained 900 Evolution Points and 12 Wind Wolf Gene Points.]**
Lizarius looked around the forest.
*I have been here for a while.*
His yellow eyes scanned the surrounding trees.
*I better get out of here before more come.*
He paused.
*But I have to find a way to get rid of the bloody smell.*
The scent of blood still lingered around his body.
Lizarius thought for a moment.
*If I can evolve other genes, I can evolve my own as well.*
“System,” he commanded, “use 500 points to evolve the White Scale Lizard Gene.”
A warm sensation immediately spread through his body.
Lizarius remained still as the energy flowed through him.
**[Evolution complete.]**
Lizarius’s yellow eyes brightened.
*Now I can mask my smell and sounds.*
He turned invisible.
Then he began walking deeper into the forest.
*Usually, the system doesn’t give me much information.*
Lizarius continued forward.
*I have to find a place to rest.*
After walking for a while, he reached a large tree.
Lizarius climbed up the trunk and settled onto one of the branches.
He curled his body up against the branch and eventually fell asleep.
Lizarius woke up in the middle of the night.
His yellow eyes snapped open.
He remained still for a moment, listening to his surroundings.
His body now felt completely healed.
Not only had his injuries disappeared, but his body also felt stronger and more resilient than before.
Lizarius slowly moved his body, testing his limbs.
Then he asked the system,
“How many points do I have?”
The system replied,
**[You have 600 Evolution Points and 15 Wind Wolf Gene Points.]**
Lizarius’s yellow eyes flickered.
“System,” he commanded, “fuse all the Genes.”
A shock suddenly ran through his body.
**Zzzzt!**
A surge of power coursed through his veins.
Lizarius’s body trembled slightly as the energy spread through him.
*When I evolved my own Gene, it felt different.*
He remembered the sensation.
*I felt a warm current flowing through my body.*
Lizarius thought for a moment before speaking again.
“Use 200 points to evolve the Golden Scale Gene, 200 points to evolve my scales, and 200 points to evolve the Lightning Gene.”
The system responded immediately.
**[Confirmed.]**
Lizarius felt the same shock as before.
But this time, it felt more profound.
A powerful sensation surged through his body as the newly evolved genes strengthened him.
After the evolution was complete, Lizarius remained invisible.
He climbed down from the tree and began walking through the forest in the middle of the night.
His yellow eyes glowed in the darkness.
After walking for a while, Lizarius came across a small cave.
He approached the entrance and cautiously walked inside.
*I have been walking around for a while, and I haven’t come across any beasts inside the cave.*
Lizarius continued deeper into the cave.
Then he looked upward.
On the ceiling of the cave were dozens of bats.
Each one had the symbol of the moon on its forehead.
They were large creatures with impressive wingspans.
Lizarius’s yellow eyes focused on them.
“System, what kind of beasts are these?”
The system replied,
**[They are called Moonlight Bats.]**
**[They are Rank 4, Low Stage beasts known for flying extremely high, even reaching the moon.
They mainly attack using sound waves.]**
*Reach the moon?*
Lizarius looked at the bats with curiosity.
*Is that even possible?*
He continued observing the Moonlight Bats.
These were powerful creatures, far beyond anything he had encountered before.
The challenge of hunting them stirred something within him.
Lizarius had come a long way since his humble beginnings in the cave.
Now, he was much stronger than before.
Lizarius looked up at the hundreds of Moonlight Bats clinging to the ceiling of the cave.
“There are more than a hundred of them.”
His tail moved.
He swung it upward.
Dozens of golden scales shot out, piercing through the mass of bats.
**SHING!
SHING!
SHING!**
The remaining Moonlight Bats opened their red eyes in fury.
Before they could launch their attack, Lizarius charged his body with electricity.
**Zzzzt!**
Lightning surged across his scales.
Then—
**BOOM!**
A torrent of lightning erupted from his body, filling the cave with electricity.
The Moonlight Bats were thrown into disarray, scrambling to escape.
Many of them were struck by the lightning.
Their bodies convulsed before they fell from the ceiling and crashed onto the cave floor.
Lizarius didn’t stop.
He swung his tail again.
Another barrage of lightning-charged golden scales shot into the panicked swarm.
**SHING!
SHING!
SHING!**
The scales tore through the air, striking the bats as they desperately tried to escape.
A few Moonlight Bats managed to escape.
They flew out of the cave and disappeared into the clouds.
Lizarius watched them leave.
“So many of them.”
His breathing was heavier after the attack.
“Good.
I didn’t give any of them a chance to use their sound wave attack.”
His yellow eyes remained focused on the cave entrance.
“Otherwise, I would be the one lying on the ground.”
Lizarius turned toward the corpses of the Moonlight Bats.
He approached them and began to eat.
One corpse after another disappeared into his stomach.
After a while of feasting, the system announced,
**[You gained 17,000 Evolution Points, the Moonlight Bat Gene, and 200 Gene Points.]**
Lizarius paused.
His yellow eyes widened.
*I never got this many points so easily.*
He looked at the corpses around him.
*And this many genes…*
Lizarius shook his head.
*I shouldn’t have let any of them escape.*
His eyes turned toward the deeper part of the cave.
*Maybe there are more deeper inside the cave.*
Lizarius cautiously explored farther into the cave.
He moved through the darkness, carefully searching the walls and ceiling.
But he couldn’t find any more Moonlight Bats.
Eventually, he returned to the entrance of the cave, where he had killed the first wave of bats.
*I looked around inside the cave but couldn’t find any.*
Lizarius paused.
Then he spoke.
“System, fuse all the Genes.”
A powerful shock immediately ran through his body.
**Zzzzt!**
But Lizarius didn’t stop.
A sharp, intense pain suddenly emanated from his back.
His body stiffened as the pain became stronger.
Then he saw it.
Something was growing from his back.
Wings.
Large, leathery wings began emerging from his back.
The newly formed wings slowly extended outward.
Lizarius endured the excruciating pain as his body continued changing.
The wings grew larger.
Their leathery membranes stretched across their expanding structures.
The pain became unbearable.
Lizarius’s vision began to blur.
His body finally gave out.
He passed out.
**[Evolution complete.]**
Lizarius slowly opened his eyes.
He was lying on the cave floor, covered in blood.
The intense pain had subsided.
For a moment, he remained still.
Then his yellow eyes shifted toward his back.
The newly formed wings were still there.
Large, leathery wings extended from his back, occasionally twitching as Lizarius slowly moved them.
*Wings…*
His yellow eyes widened as he examined them.
*I have wings now.*
Lizarius tried moving them.
The wings responded immediately.
He moved them again.
They followed his movements perfectly.
*It’s like I have new limbs.*
A sense of excitement filled his thoughts.
Lizarius turned his head toward the deeper part of the cave.
“Can I also use sound wave attacks?”
The system announced,
**[The sound wave attack is part of the Moonlight Bat Gene.]**
Lizarius’s yellow eyes brightened.
He turned his head toward the inside of the cave.
Then he opened his mouth and released a low, guttural sound.
**BOOM!**
A powerful shockwave erupted from his mouth and traveled deep into the cave.
The sound wave struck the surrounding rock.
**CRACK!**
Fragments of rock broke loose from the ceiling and rained down onto the cave floor.
Lizarius watched the falling fragments.
*Lucky I didn’t give those bats a chance to use that attack on me.*
His yellow eyes narrowed.
*I wouldn’t have been able to survive it.*
