Fairy Tail.
The open space in front of the guild.
After witnessing Onix’s excessive size, a group of people from the guild, in clusters of three to five, consciously cleared a spacious enough area.
“Are you really going two-on-one?”
Edward stood on the left side.
Mirajane and Erza stood on the right side.
A light breeze blew by, ruffling the hair of the three.
“Of course not, I just want you to help me test Onix’s defense and attack power.”
Edward released Onix once again.
When it appeared,
Onix had already crushed a pile of tables and chairs; he didn’t want Onix to smash the doors and walls as well.
“Ah—how boring!”
Hearing Edward say this,
Mira, who had been full of fighting spirit, suddenly wilted like a frost-bitten eggplant.
Her sharp gaze vanished, and she muttered, feeling utterly bored.
“I see, sure.”
By contrast,
Erza appeared much more loyal and helpful.
Hearing a companion’s request for help, she was even more active than when she heard about a fight!
“So, what should I do!”
“Uh, I’d like to progress step-by-step from weak to strong.”
“Also, I hope someone with Plant or Water magic can come and help…”
“Plant-type? Water-type… does our guild have people who use those two kinds of magic?”
Natsu, among the onlookers, asked Gray beside him.
“I don’t know…”
The shirtless senior Gray shook his head, but Erza remembered clearly.
“Droy, it’s your turn to step up.”
“Got it.”
From the crowd, a boy with a buzz cut, after being reminded by a girl with short blue curly hair, walked out coolly.
Judging by his expression alone, this was a formidable character.
“Hello, I’m the newcomer, Edward.”
This person didn’t seem to be in his memory, but Edward wouldn’t look down on him because of that, and gave him a polite nod.
“I’m Droy. If it’s Plant magic, I can use it.”
Droy said with a cocky air.
“Is that so? Then I’ll leave it to you.”
Just a kid who likes to act cool.
Edward smiled gently, not taking it to heart.
He was much the same back then, but after being beaten down by society, that little problem cured itself.
“Then let’s start with Natsu, then Gray, then Droy, and finally Erza.”
“By the way, is there perhaps a Lightning magic user here too?”
Edward thought of another point and quickly added.
“If it’s Lightning-type, that’s definitely Laxus.”
Unlike the low-profile Droy, as soon as electricity was mentioned, that name surfaced in everyone’s minds.
“Yeah, but he’s out on a mission.”
“He is S-Class, after all.”
“He is the Master’s grandson, after all; he’s in a different world from us mortals.”
…
“No one? Well, nothing to be done then.”
Edward felt a bit of regret.
It wasn’t hard to see that besides testing Onix’s defense, Edward also wanted to test if type advantages still worked in this world.
One-half weak to Fire, and double weak to Ice.
Moreover, Natsu and Gray’s output wouldn’t be identical.
So four-times weakness to Grass and Water, and complete immunity to Lightning, would be much more obvious.
Unfortunately,
Laxus wasn’t here.
But even if he were…
he wouldn’t necessarily help me.
Edward vaguely remembered this second-generation—no, third-generation.
No, this fourth-generation’s rebellious phase was intense and long-lasting.
He was right in the middle of his awkward phase now.
…
Fire Dragon’s…
Crushing Fang!
Whoosh~
Warm flames coiled around Natsu’s small hand, which then lightly brushed against Onix’s skin.
Natsu: My hand hurts!
My heart hurts too!
Edward:…
It is currently year X778, still six years before the story begins.
Natsu and Gray’s physical ages are both twelve.
Though they haven’t officially entered puberty, at this age in ‘Naruto’, they’d already be cold-blooded killers!
Well,
‘Naruto’ is the abnormal one.
Edward signaled Onix with his eyes.
The latter understood and shifted its pupils left and right, indicating it felt absolutely nothing.
Edward:…
You’re quite good at considering others’ feelings.
“Then, Gray…”
“Leave it to me!”
He shouted refreshingly.
The clothes he’d just put on a few minutes ago were once again removed in an instant.
With Edward’s eyesight, he actually couldn’t see how he did it!
He saw Gray’s right hand form a fist and press into his left palm.
Wisps of cold air emerged, forming a magic circle with a snowflake core!
Oh?
In this period alone,
Gray’s proficiency with magic was above Natsu’s, and the gap wasn’t small.
Is this the difference between being taught by a human and being taught by a dragon?
Or the difference between a sad childhood and a happy one?
Ice-Make—
Lance!
Swish!
Swish!
Swish!
Seven or eight ice spears the size of kunai shot out.
After striking a tiny part of Onix’s body, they all shattered into glittering ice dust.
Hmm, quite pretty…
Edward looked up at Onix again.
The latter still shifted its pupils.
No feeling…
“Droy… good luck.”
Droy:???
Why the sudden encouragement?!
Droy had the air of a precocious kid, but that was just his persona.
He was the same age as Natsu and Gray, so his strength was also…
Swoosh!
As Droy pulled a handful of seeds from his pocket and tossed them out, the seeds took root upon landing.
With the lighting up of two deep green magic circles, a pair of fists the size of basketballs were rapidly nurtured and shot toward Onix.
Thud!
Thud!
Two dull sounds.
Onix…
stood motionless!
Droy:…
Maybe I shouldn’t have come out…
Droy glanced out of the corner of his eye at that particularly petite blue-haired girl.
Seeing that she was merely marveling at Onix’s majesty, his heart was conflicted; he didn’t know whether to feel lucky or disappointed…
Edward didn’t care about this precocious kid; he continued to look at Onix.
Seeing the latter continue to deny any effect, Edward was somewhat surprised.
No way.
Is Onix this powerful?
This is Grass-type.
Four-times super effective!
You should know that in the original work, Onix was so afraid of water that it would wail if even a showerhead sprayed it.
To the point where pouring two buckets of water would directly deal heavy damage!
Could it be that type advantages are useless here?
“Erza, I’ll leave the last part to you.”
“Leave it to me! I just need to attack with full power, right!”
Clank!
Clank!
Erza, clad in heavy armor, stepped forward.
With every step, the light clinking of armor could be heard.
Her gaze was resolute, a heroine who wouldn’t yield to any man.
Her small, calloused hand gripped the hilt of the sword at her waist!
The aura of person and sword began to merge.
In an instant, her sharpness was fully revealed!
“That… actually, you don’t have to be so serious…”
“Then… here I come!”
Flash!
Before Edward could finish, a sharp blade light flashed!
Stone chips flew.
A scar suddenly appeared on Onix’s body!
About two centimeters deep.
It worked?!
This…
Does it count as Normal-type or Fighting-type?
Or maybe Steel-type?
Unlikely.
In any case, it definitely counts as physical attack!
“So hard!”
After the strike, Edward wasn’t the only one surprised.
Erza was even more amazed.
“Can I continue?”
Note, it was ‘can’, not’should’.
It was a request, not a question.
At the same time, the light in her eyes changed.
From initial sincerity, it turned into an eagerness to try.
“Sure.”
Edward looked at Onix and saw it nod.
He also nodded.
“Good! Then… Moon Flash!”
