That logic might have worked back in the feudal era, but nowadays women can keep their last names; transport and communication is easier, meaning there is no case of leaving the family.
Mobile phones, cars/buses and the fact that women can work now.
All of these things and more destroy this way of thinking.
Back then, this form of thinking might have even been beneficial to women in terms of safety/security, but now not so much.
And it's not like men are staying at their parents' house and bringing in a wife.
This sort of thinking has become outdated as the need for such situations where a woman leaves home to live in a far away place is practically non-existent now.
