Teberley 320R was an elite hyper sports car that cost around two million dollars, something only a Hunter could possibly afford in this economy.

And now... Kai apparently had one.

And why was he rewarded with it?

Because he simply rode in a car with Jean and the child.

At this point, I feel like the System just wants to reward me.

He didn’t know how to feel about it. The life of luxury was completely foreign to him, so being rewarded with such things had him a little overwhelmed.

He decided to think about it later and turned to Jean.

"Have you been in contact with any of our old friends?"

He was careful not to bring up anything about her recently life and instead asked something that could lighten the mood.

Jean slowly nodded. "I talk to Lisa from time to time."

Kai hummed. "I remember her being very close to you. Even during the reunion, you two arrived together."

Jean slowly nodded.

"She was more than a sister to me. But these past few months, all I’ve done is ignore her."

Her shoulders fell with guilt.

Kai felt concerned. Even though he had been careful, he had somehow ended up making her sad.

Not long after, they arrived at the hospital. Kai stepped out first and opened the door for her.

He paid the taxi driver before saying, "Let me hold her. You must be tired."

Jean nodded and asked, "Did you take an appointment?"

Kai hummed. "Yes, I did. And surprisingly, we can get tested in about ten minutes."

It was surprising because in a world where dungeons appeared left and right, hospitals were never vacant.

Disaster management and hospitals had thrived in times of calamity.

Not long after, they entered the hospital building.

Kai was nervous as they climbed the stairs.

Let’s see.

.....

"It will take ten minutes for the reports to be prepared. Please wait outside until then."

Kai nodded upon hearing the nurse’s words.

The test was simple and efficient, and it seemed they wouldn’t need to wait half a day for the results.

That was both good and bad.

He was relieved that he would soon know whether the child was his or not. At the same time, he was nervous about seeing the results.

Looking down at the child in his arms, he couldn’t help but sigh.

The way she snuggled against his chest, her small fist clutching his shirt... it was just too precious to let go.

He knew Jean was never the type of woman to lie. She had always spoken her mind, but there was still a slight chance that she might be mistaken.

After all, what happened two years ago had been nothing more than a drunken mistake on both sides.

He reached the lobby where Jean was seated.

He approached her and asked, "Are you okay?"

She turned to him and nodded. "Yes. What happened?"

Kai sat beside her.

"It’ll take some time. We’ll take the reports and leave." Taking a pause, he added, "There’s a convenience store nearby. We’ll go and buy supplies for the baby and us."

He couldn’t have the child survive on formula alone, and Jean looked quite weak as well, possibly from eating whatever she could find.

Jean stared at him for a few seconds before asking, "While I know for sure this baby is yours too, let’s assume she isn’t. What would you have done then?"

Kai was left speechless for a moment.

Just thinking about it made his heart feel complicated.

He glanced down at the baby and said, "Well, I would have helped you any way I could."

"Even though she isn’t your child and I’m practically trying to con you?" Her brows rose as she continued.

Kai shrugged.

"You are a friend... or at least, we were well acquainted back then. I couldn’t just abandon you in a time of need."

She fell silent at his words.

Then she shook her head and muttered, "You are too kind for this world, Kai."

Kai sheepishly smiled.

"I’m not like this for everyone, you know?"

Jean tilted her head and turned to look at him.

They both stared at each other, an inexplicable emotion passing between them.

Just then, the nurse called out.

"Mister Kai. Your reports are ready."

Kai took a deep breath.

"Here, hold her for me. I’ll be back in a minute."

Jean slowly nodded, her expression devoid of any nervousness.

Kai took a moment to steady himself before finally making his way to the counter.

Alright, let’s see.
