What shocked Yixiong was that Fang Chen, who had suffered a heavy blow from their head-on collision, did not retreat or flee after being injured. Instead, he stood right back up and charged forward again.

“Human, I admire your courage.”

Yixiong shouted, his gaze involuntarily carrying a trace of respect.Full novel: Fantasy: I Asked You to Die, Not to Be Invincible — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

No matter how Fang Chen had ambushed him earlier, this time, Fang Chen’s open and direct stance, free of underhanded tricks, had earned his genuine esteem.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

The two exchanged fists and claws once more, fierce winds howling and Spiritual Qi surging. In the brief intervals of combat, Fang Chen did not forget to unleash bursts of Fire Malice King.

Unfortunately, it was almost entirely futile.

Yixiong’s reaction speed was simply too monstrous!

After several more head-on clashes, the demon tiger finally took some damage, blood trickling down its beastly face.

Yet Fang Chen was already on the verge of collapse, drenched in blood, every inch of his body burning with agony. Dozens of his bones were fractured, making him feel as though he had been trampled over and over again.

“Human, among all the Foundation Establishment cultivators I’ve met, you are the most fearless of death.”

Yixiong’s eyes were filled with deep admiration-the proper respect due to a brave warrior. He looked at the blood-soaked Fang Chen and spoke.

Fang Chen did not reply, nor did he have the strength left to speak. At this moment, his breathing sounded like a broken bellows, heavy and ragged, while his eyelids hung so low under the weight of the blood that he could barely open them.

He cursed inwardly.

This system’s trigger speed was truly wretched…

It only restored him when he was on the absolute brink of death!

Right now, Fang Chen still needed a few more hits before he could actually die, but Yixiong, acting like a typical arrogant villain, suffered from the chronic ailment of excessive talking.

Standing there instead of finishing him off right away, the beast started blabbering on and on.

“Should I just commit suicide?”

A thought flashed through Fang Chen’s mind.

That way, he could speed up his recovery and avoid wasting time listening to Yixiong boast.

Then again, Fang Chen felt a bit uneasy; what if he accidentally killed himself for real?

After a moment of thought, Fang Chen reached into his Storage Ring and retrieved a poison pill.

This poison was something the original body had prepared specifically to deal with the demon beast that had previously killed him, and the ring naturally contained its antidote.

Just in case the system failed to trigger, he could quickly swallow the antidote, detoxify, and wait for Yixiong to finish him off properly…

Seeing Fang Chen produce a poison pill, Yixiong froze. “You want to use poison?”

“What’s the point of that?”

At a single glance, he could tell the poison was completely useless against a fifth-grade Foundation Establishment cultivator like himself!

Fang Chen ignored him, frowning deeply as he shoved the pill into his mouth.

Has this fellow lost his mind?!

Fang Chen cracked a grin, his smile brimming with unbridled confidence and bravado. “You’ll find out in a sec-Ptoo!”

Before he could finish, he spat out a mouthful of blood.

Yixiong: “…”

Yet the very next second, wild elation surged across Fang Chen’s face.

Without missing a beat, he glared at Yixiong and grinned fiercely. “Go and die!”

Dragging his poisoned, battered body, he roared as he lunged forward, unleashing a fierce Qi Fist.

Caught entirely off guard, the shocked Yixiong had nowhere to dodge and took several of Fang Chen’s punches straight on.

Even with his thick hide and tough flesh, the heavy blows forced a muffled grunt from the beast, and blood began to seep from the corner of its mouth.

Yet Yixiong did not feel disadvantaged; instead, he was utterly baffled.

Using his tiger claw, he blocked Fang Chen-who was already too weak to throw another proper punch yet still stubbornly raised his arm-and held back from dealing the fatal blow, asking incredulously, “What on earth are you trying to do?!”

“Ptoo…”

Seeing Fang Chen standing right there and coughing up blood all over again, Yixiong grew even more dumbfounded.

Even if someone wasn’t afraid of death, did they really need to poison themselves for fun?

Right at that moment.

Fang Chen’s posture suddenly straightened out entirely. His listless, dying state vanished in an instant, and his entire aura rebounded to absolute perfection…

“What?”

The bewildered Yixiong stood frozen, his eyes bulging in sheer horror…

How… how did this guy recover just like that? ? ?

That’s impossible!

Watching Fang Chen bounce back into peak condition as if repeating some bizarre trick, Yixiong felt his entire worldview shatter.

Could this fellow possibly carry multiple life-saving talismans or pills?

Taking advantage of Yixiong’s momentary shock, Fang Chen threw a heavy punch straight at the beast’s face.

Stung by the pain, Yixiong brushed aside his shock and retaliated with full force, engaging Fang Chen in combat once more…

After trading blows for a while, Fang Chen gradually lost ground again and slipped back into severe injuries.

No matter how wounded Yixiong was, his physical foundation far surpassed anything Fang Chen could match.

Yet to Yixiong’s utter disbelief, the moment Fang Chen was heavily wounded once more, the fellow skillfully produced another poison pill with practiced ease and shoved it straight down his throat.

Following that, Fang Chen broke into the exact same grin, his smile filled with outrageous confidence and bravado. “You’re going down-Ptoo!”

Before he could finish the sentence, Fang Chen coughed up another mouthful of blood.

Staring at the identical scene unfolding before him, Yixiong-who had spent half his life locked in a beast prison and had never encountered such a bizarre opponent-muttered in a dazed stupor, “Illusion… this has got to be an illusion, right?!”

Immediately after, Fang Chen launched yet another suicidal, reckless assault.

He instinctively stepped back to dodge.

Yet that retreat allowed Fang Chen to land several more wild, frantic punches. Still unsatisfied, Fang Chen leaped straight up into the air…

Seeing this, Yixiong flew into a rage, raising a paw to swat the descending human out of the sky.

Yet before the airborne Fang Chen even got close, he started coughing up blood and dropped straight down like a stone…

Yixiong: “…”

Before Yixiong could even process his emotions, Fang Chen scrambled right back up to his feet. His aura was once again flourishing at the stage of Perfection, entirely devoid of any weakness or sign of severe injury.

Then, with a creepy, unsettling chuckle, Fang Chen charged toward Yixiong once more…

“No, this can’t be happening!”

Faced with such an absurd and terrifying spectacle, the frightened Yixiong completely lost his nerve. No longer daring to confront Fang Chen directly, he let out a roar and turned tail to run…

Thus began a bizarre chase where Yixiong fought while retreating.

Whenever Fang Chen felt his combat state dip even slightly, he would simply swallow another dose of poison to accelerate his blood loss, letting the system instantly refresh his condition.

This grotesque cycle terrified Yixiong more and more with every passing moment.

Half an hour later.

Yixiong was covered from head to toe in new wounds.

An hour later.

Fang Chen vaulted onto a rooftop, easily cutting off Yixiong’s path.

With his Spiritual Qi completely drained and all personal reserves exhausted, the demon tiger’s face twisted into an expression of utter despair!

“Any last words?”

Fang Chen asked with a mild smile.

Yixiong let out a low, desperate growl. “How on earth are you doing this? Could it be that you’ve gained control of the Yin Yang Furnace?”

No matter how he racked his brain, he could not fathom how Fang Chen achieved such monstrous recoveries.

This was definitely beyond the capabilities of ordinary talismans or pills!

After mulling it over, only one explanation seemed remotely plausible.

There had to be something wrong with the Yin Yang Furnace itself!

Perhaps because the formation was originally of human design, Fang Chen must have found some hidden method to manipulate its power…?

Instead of answering, Fang Chen merely offered a mysterious smile. “Take a guess…”

Hearing that, Yixiong opened his mouth as if to curse.

Yet before he could speak, he saw Fang Chen raise a hand, directly launching a burst of Fire Malice King straight toward his head.

With a drastic change in expression, Yixiong threw his remaining strength into a frantic roll backward to evade the strike.

Once he scrambled to a safe distance, Yixiong let out a roar filled with grief and indignation, “I’m already at death’s door, and you’re still using a sneak attack?! Have you no shame at all?!”

At that moment, all the pent-up frustration and grievance Yixiong had accumulated through the entire battle finally erupted, leaving the thousand-pound beast feeling as wronged as a helpless kitten.
