“Rider, are all Servants such terrifying existences?”

In a private house in Fuyuki City, Waver and Iskandar had returned, each changed into modern clothing and sitting on the bed.

Even though they were out of danger, Waver still looked like he had lingering fears.Full novel: Fate: I Am the Oldest King — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Not every Servant possesses such formidable power—at least, I don’t.”

Iskandar replied; he didn’t show a trace of fear and was still reading a book.

“Ah, then what should we do? Why don’t we just withdraw? Although I really want the Holy Grail, I don’t want to lose my life for it.”

Waver looked completely at a loss.

Iskandar put down his book and gave him a pat on the shoulder.

“Don’t give up just because of a little difficulty, boy.”

“Once you’ve made up your mind to do something, how can you give up halfway?”

Waver was still discouraged.

“I don’t want to give up halfway either, but do you think those Servants are things humans can fight?”

“That is indeed a problem.” Iskandar rubbed his chin, falling into deep thought.

This Holy Grail War was unusual; God-tier existences were appearing in clusters.

He considered his own strength to be quite good, at least among the top tier of conventional Servants.

But facing such a group of unconventional Servants, he felt powerless as well.

“Just do your best.” Iskandar eventually shook his head, unable to think of any good countermeasure.

He had thought about calling out to the God-King Zeus to grant him divine protection.

But he ultimately abandoned that idea, setting aside whether Zeus would even respond to him.

Even if Zeus responded and gave him protection, it wouldn’t necessarily guarantee a win; it wasn’t as if Zeus himself was descending.

Besides, winning for the sake of winning was not the Kingly Way he advocated.

What he wanted was conquest, to travel all the way east until reaching the ocean at the end of the world.

“But don’t be disheartened. That wish of yours to gain recognition from others—I think it can be realized even without the Holy Grail.”

Waver was stunned.

“It can be realized even without the Holy Grail?”

“Exactly. That’s how it is. Walk with me.” Iskandar gave a broad smile and brought out the beer they had purchased earlier.

“Come, realizing your wish begins with finishing this can of alcohol.”

Iskandar pulled the tab on the can.

“Cheers!”

“What does drinking have to do with realizing a wish?” Waver said, but he still took the beer and tilted his head back to drink, only to end up coughing repeatedly from being choked.

“Hahaha! That’s it! Bravely try things out and become stronger!”

Seeing this, Iskandar laughed loudly—not a mocking laugh, but one of gratification.

Kayneth sat on the sofa, with Lancelot kneeling on the floor before him.

His face was gloomy, and he remained silent for a long time, unable to accept that he had failed in such a small place like the Far East.

They were all Servants, so how could the gap be so massive?

Lancelot also said nothing.

He didn’t know how to bring victory to his Master.

“Don’t think too much for now. Have some hot water.”

Sola placed two cups of water on the coffee table.

“Beep beep—”

Just then, Kayneth’s Communication Mystic Code rang; it was a transmission from the Clock Tower.

Kayneth glanced at Lancelot and eventually connected the call.

“Lord Kayneth, are you currently in the Far East?”

“Yes.”

“May I ask if you know anything about that Erdtree phenomenon just now? If you are in the Far East, you should be the closest to the incident site.”

Kayneth was silent for a moment; thinking about it made him a bit angry.

“I suppose I know something about it,” he said.

“That’s wonderful!” The Clock Tower Mage on the other side was delighted.

“Please provide a detailed explanation.”

“A detailed explanation? Heh, I said I only’suppose’ I know.” Kayneth wasn’t in a good mood, so his tone was unfriendly, as if he wanted to vent all his anger.

The other party apologized repeatedly, which finally calmed his emotions.

“It’s likely related to a magical ritual called the ‘Holy Grail War.’ The Servants summoned in this session are somewhat abnormal.”

“Those phenomena are mostly inseparable from these Servants; it’s even highly likely they were caused by them.”

Kayneth shared the information he knew.

At this point, Sola seemed to think of something.

Her eyes lit up as she interjected, “Is the Clock Tower going to investigate all this?”

“Yes.”

“We happen to be in Fuyuki City participating in the Holy Grail War right now. If you want to investigate, why not just send people here to assist us?” Sola said.

She wanted to utilize the Clock Tower’s support to secure victory in the Holy Grail War.

Originally, they didn’t care about a mere Holy Grail.

But now, their attitude had long since changed.

If even such existences could be summoned, the Holy Grail was definitely no simple item.

Perhaps its title as an ‘Omnipotent Wish-Granting Machine’ wasn’t just an empty name, but the truth. This chapter is updated first at g.com.

If it really could grant wishes, its value would be immense—certainly worth their pursuit.

“This… I need to request instructions from the Lords.”

The Mage on the other end did not agree immediately.

“Give me an answer before noon tomorrow,” Kayneth spoke up, clearly having understood his fiancée Sola’s plan.

Lancelot was clearly no longer dependable.

If they still wanted to seize victory in the Holy Grail War, they would have to use some methods that violated the rules.

As for the price of violation…

A whole ship of Servants from the Einzbern family had appeared, and you’re talking to me about the price of violating rules?

In Kayneth’s eyes now, the supervisor from the Holy Church was just a decoration, even less dependable than Lancelot.

“Yes, Lord Kayneth. We will certainly send reinforcements to you as quickly as possible.”

The communication ended there.

Lancelot clenched his fists, seemingly somewhat unwilling.

Kayneth glanced at him.

“Stand up. I’ll give you a chance to redeem yourself.”

“Remember the Servant who interrupted your battle with Gawain?”

Lancelot stood up as ordered and replied, “I remember. He called himself Iskandar. If he wasn’t lying, his true identity should be Alexander.”

“His Master is my student, Waver—a naive fool, but I must say he has quite the nerve.”

“If we want to win now, it’s certainly impossible relying solely on ourselves.”

“Even if the Clock Tower agrees to send support tomorrow, I don’t think it will be enough.”

“Go find Waver and bring him to see me. I need the power of the Servant in his hands.”

“With his meager level of Magecraft and mana capacity, he probably struggles even with mana supply. It would be better for him to transfer the Servant to me.”

“With my level of Magecraft, changing the contract is no difficult task.”

“With my mana supply, Iskandar should be able to exert his full power. He’s a quite decent combat force.”

“That was originally the Servant I had intended to summon; my tactics were initially arranged around him.”

After Kayneth finished speaking, he observed Lancelot’s reaction and finally added one more sentence: “I’m not saying I’m abandoning you. Essentially, it’s just forming an alliance with Rider’s group, but letting me provide the mana.”

He thought of the other party’s chivalry and had to set aside a bit of his arrogance to explain and soothe him.

Otherwise, he wasn’t sure if the other party would work hard or just obey publicly while defying in private.

Upon hearing this, Lancelot finally nodded heavily.

“I will get it done.”
