It played out exactly like that.

Because of Gilgamesh’s chaotic behavior—running off to travel every other day and ruthlessly challenging anyone and everyone without a single care—countless neighboring kings and tribal chieftains were plunged into a state of profound dread and deep humiliation.

Consequently, a massive coalition army, the likes of which had never been seen before on the Mesopotamian plains, quietly assembled in the shadows, determined to permanently eliminate this thorn in their side.Full novel: Fate series: Fighting Gilgamesh vs Gilgamesh — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Those participating in this monumental joint crusade weren’t just elite legions drawn from neighboring nations; their ranks even included several powerful demigods who flowed with the blood of deities, possessing massive mana reserves and martial martial prowess far beyond ordinary mortals.

Of course, if you counted them up one by one, every single one of these leaders was a loser who had already been mercilessly beaten into the dirt by Gilgamesh during his past solo excursions.

But now, these previously defeated generals had gathered together and arrived at a seemingly airtight logical conclusion: while they couldn’t defeat that golden monster in a one-on-one duel, what if they simply jumped him all at once?!

No matter how unprecedentedly valiant the King of Uruk was, he ultimately possessed a single vessel of flesh and blood.

Faced with a massive army blankets the mountains and valleys, and driven by countless rampaging magical beasts, could he genuinely defeat a coalition numbering in the tens of thousands all by himself?

Harboring such fanatical ambitions, the roaring coalition marched upon Uruk, churning up waves of sand and dust that blotted out the sun.

They deployed mountain-sized magical beasts to roar at the vanguard, while several demigod warriors stood proudly upon their war chariots, fully prepared to tear Uruk’s defensive lines to shreds using Age of Gods magecraft and heavy infantry.

Concurrently, their nerves were wound tight, anticipating a fierce counter-offensive from Uruk’s own renowned elite military.

However, when the war horns sounded and the coalition initiated their grand charge, they were left utterly flabbergasted.

Though Uruk’s massive, indestructible gates slowly ground open, not a single legion charged forth to intercept them.

Across the vast, open battlefield, only a single figure leisurely stepped out from the shadow of the gates.

It was a young man clad in heavy, custom-crafted Uruk heavy armor, carrying two exceptionally broad, black double-edged greatswords loosely in his hands.

It was Gilgamesh.

Upon realizing that Uruk had only sent their King out alone to face them, a wave of dismissive, mocking laughter—mixed with shock and absolute ecstasy—erupted across the coalition’s ranks.

“Is that man completely insane?!

To dare step out alone to meet his death!”

“Even if his strength is boundless, it’s impossible for him to halt the charge of an absolute tidal wave of soldiers!

Grind him to dust!”

The coalition commander unsheathed his longsword, roaring as he issued the order for an all-out assault.

Yet in the very next second, their arrogant laughter caught violently in their throats, twisting into deformed shrieks of terror.

They watched as the golden-haired youth crossed the two massive greatswords—each taller than a grown man—in front of his chest.

Then, like a runaway freight train, he slammed headfirst into the densest cluster of the coalition’s vanguard!

Boom—!!!

Accompanied by a deafening explosion, fragments of flesh and shattered metal erupted into the air.

This was the enemy’s pride and joy: a highly trained, heavily armored elite infantry phalanx rumored to be capable of neutralizing a conventional army of a thousand with just a hundred men!

And they were instantly sent flying by the impact.

Next to step up were the massive, brutally powerful magical beasts from the Age of Gods!

They attempted to use their thick, scale-covered bodies to form a living wall and halt Gilgamesh’s murderous momentum!

But they were slaughtered on the spot.

“A monster…

this guy is an absolute monster through and through!!!”

Watching Gilgamesh plow a crimson highway of blood and bone through their army like a hot knife through butter, the leading generals and kings finally felt a primordial terror grip the very depths of their souls.

Throwing all caution to the wind, these demigods—each wielding unimaginable strength and backed by the enhancement of Age of Gods magecraft cast by the rear support units—roared as they jumped Gilgamesh simultaneously from all sides.

Spears, battleaxes, and magical beams crackling with thunder and fire completely enveloped Gilgamesh from every conceivable angle.

Yet, it remained entirely useless.

Those divine descendants, who usually stood high above the masses, were nothing more than speed bumps on the road before Gilgamesh.

Armed with his dual greatswords, he carved his way through them with clinical efficiency.

They could take a hit, sure, but they could only take a hit.

The entire battlefield completely disintegrated.

The coalition army was unilaterally crushed into an abyss of absolute despair by Gilgamesh’s raw physical stats.

Up on the high city walls, the fully armed soldiers of Uruk watched the carnage below, utterly dumbfounded.

They had originally received absolute, non-negotiable orders to stand by on the ramparts, ready to charge down and reinforce their King at a moment’s notice.

But the issue was that their wise king ran far too fast and slaughtered far too quickly.

From the moment Gilgamesh burst through the gates to the moment he completely tore through the coalition’s entire formation, barely any time had passed at all.

Consequently, by the time the dust settled, the heavily armed Uruk soldiers could only look at each other, helplessly lower their weapons, and wheel out empty carts to handle the mundane chore of cleaning up the battlefield and collecting the spoils of war.

Gilgamesh casually drove his twin blood-drenched greatswords into the desert sand.

Standing atop a small mound composed of the corpses of enemy generals and magical beasts, he watched the broken remnants of the army scramble frantically over their own discarded armor to flee back into the desert.

In a calm yet unmistakably absolute tone of dominion, he spoke:

“If you come here to challenge me to a duel, you are welcome anytime, anywhere.”

“However, since you brought a massive army to invade Uruk and harbored designs against my city-state…

then you have my condolences.”

Fighting was one thing.

While Gilgamesh was a combat enthusiast who loved seeking out opponents for a good brawl, he was by no means a brainless fool without boundaries.

These individuals clearly hadn’t arrived with the pure martial mindset of “enjoying a magnificent battle”; they wanted to plunder Uruk’s wealth and enslave its people.

Regarding such matters, Gilgamesh was incredibly decisive, utilizing the most brutal methods to slaughter every single leader to permanently eliminate the threat.

Meanwhile, just as the bloody war on the earth drew to a close, high up within the divine realms beyond the reach of mortals, the heavenly deities looked down silently upon this one-sided massacre.

Within the divine pantheon, the wills of the gods intersected, and the atmosphere grew somewhat heavy.

Regarding this “Wedge of Heaven,” the gods harbored complex emotions.

How should they put it?

If looked at strictly from the perspective of divine rule, Gilgamesh actually performed exceptionally well as a king.

For all these years, he had never once neglected any temple when it came to offering sacrifices to the gods; in speech, he had never acted like a raving lunatic who went out of his way to deliberately insult a deity.

He governed Uruk to absolute prosperity, keeping mortal faith in the divine perfectly stable.

But the core problem was…

this individual was simply far too uncontrollable.

His rule-breaking demigod physique, coupled with a combat style that completely defied all common sense, rendered him practically invincible upon the earth.

Furthermore, he was far too bellicose, acting like a perpetual spinning top that zipped across the Mesopotamian plains all day long in search of powerful prey.

If this continued, who was to say that he wouldn’t eventually turn his sights toward the heavens once he ran out of mortal opponents, triggering some catastrophic, unfixable disaster for the gods?

Since mortal armies, cataclysmic beasts, and even heroes of demigod blood were utterly incapable of restraining this absurdly powerful warrior…

then they simply needed to address the issue through an entirely different method.

The wills of the gods reached a seamless consensus in the void, arriving at a brilliant idea.

They could fashion a brand-new entity—one that was completely equal to this King of Uruk in terms of raw power, speed, and even conceptual authority!

They would send this entity down to the mortal realm to lock horns with this over-energized combat enthusiast.

By doing so, they should be able to firmly secure and bind this unbridled “Wedge of Heaven” with a flawless counterpart.
