Deafening gunshots echoed within the narrow space, and the scent of gunpowder instantly permeated the air.

Facing the net of death woven from countless bullets, Ibaraki Doji up in the sky seemed momentarily startled.

She let out a short gasp and hurriedly blocked her face with her pitch-black demon hand, curling her body up like a frightened little animal.Full novel: Fate: The World Thinks I’m an Alien God — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The bullets struck the target with precision.

However, the expected scene of flesh and blood flying everywhere did not occur.

Instead, there was a series of crisp “clink-clank” sounds, like metal colliding.

A faint golden light had shimmered over Ibaraki Doji’s originally snow-white, delicate skin at some unknown point.

Immediately after, layers of fine yet sturdy golden scales emerged from beneath her skin, covering her entire body in an instant.

A few bullets fired from the handguns pierced her elegant kimono, leaving behind several inconspicuous holes.

But most of the bullets, the moment they touched those golden scales, seemed to hit the hardest steel plate; they sparked brilliantly before deforming, bouncing off powerlessly, and clattering to the ground.

[Change A]

This was one of the inherent skills Ibaraki Doji possessed as an Oni God, allowing her to freely change her form.

When used for defense, it could greatly enhance her physical resistance.

Hibiki silently felt the sensation in his heart.

“I see, so this is the defensive power of the Change skill? It feels… like being pelted with pebbles by a child. It’s a bit itchy.”

To him, the impact of the bullets was even less intense than the shoulder ache he got from staying up late to write manuscripts.

Below, the police officers who had opened fire were all dumbstruck.

They stared fixedly at the unharmed figure, their expressions shifting from ferocious to blank, and finally turning into pure terror.

“How is this possible… bullets are useless?”

“Monster! She really is a monster!”

“Police Inspector Sakata… this… what do we do next?”

One officer’s voice carried a sob.

Smoke was still rising from the gun in his hand, but his arm was shaking uncontrollably and violently.

This was a Vicious Oni!

A legendary Vicious Oni, said to be invulnerable to blades and spears!

How could mortal weapons possibly harm an Oni God?

They had actually dared to imagine they could use such things to attack a true Oni!

“Damn it! All of you, use your brains!”

Police Inspector Sakata was also scared out of his wits by this supernatural scene. New chapters come out on g.com first.

However, he was still forcing himself to maintain his authority, using anger to mask the fear in his heart as he roared frantically at his subordinates.

“If bullets don’t work, go get salt! Roasted beans! And peach wood swords! Go find them, quickly!”

“Right! Silver bullets! Go look for those too! Don’t forget the crucifixes! Go!”

He shouted incoherently, listing exorcism methods he had seen in various folk legends and horror movies.

As he shouted, he quietly backed away, clearly already harboring thoughts of running away.

“I wondered what it was. So it’s just something like a slingshot?”

After confirming that the handguns couldn’t cause her any harm, Ibaraki Doji slowly moved the demon hand away from her face.

She looked down at the group of unsightly police officers with a gaze of extreme disdain.

“What era is this? To think you still dream of using toys like these to defeat a Vicious Oni. The humans of this world really haven’t made any progress at all.”

She shook her head in disappointment, as if looking at a group of insects that didn’t know the heights of the heavens.

“Well then, game time is over.”

“Next, it’s my turn to strike back~”

The moment the words fell, Ibaraki Doji’s figure abruptly vanished from mid-air.

The next second, her magnificent golden figure appeared behind a police officer like a phantom.

The officer hadn’t even reacted; he only felt a chill on his back.

“The first one.”

A cold voice rang in his ear.

He stiffly lowered his head and saw only a pitch-black, twisted demon claw covered in eerie patterns, protruding from his chest.

In the claw, a heart was still faintly beating.

“Ah—!”

A shrill scream pierced the deathly silence of the scene.

The other surrounding police officers were scared witless by this bloody and cruel scene.

They didn’t even care to look at their colleague whose chest had been pierced and who still possessed a shred of consciousness; they simply instinctively turned their muzzles and unleashed another frantic round of fire toward Ibaraki Doji.

The bullets struck Ibaraki Doji’s scales in vain, creating a series of useless sparks.

“Haha! Hahahaha! Now this is interesting!”

Ibaraki Doji laughed wildly.

She tossed aside the gradually cooling corpse in her hand, letting the warm heart roll onto the ground and become covered in dust.

She spread her arms as if embracing the hail of bullets, her golden eyes filled with bloodthirsty fanaticism.

She moved.

That petite figure turned into a golden afterimage, dashing back and forth through the panicked crowd.

Her movements were too fast for the naked eye to capture.

Every flash was accompanied by the crisp sound of shattering bones and the wails of the dying.

With a casual swing of her pitch-black demon claw, she could easily snap an adult male’s neck, leaving him to go limp like a broken doll.

With a casual kick from her seemingly jade-white bare feet, she could send a man weighing over a hundred and sixty pounds flying, smashing him against a distant wall like a pile of rotten mud, leaving only a shocking bloodstain.

The strong bodies that humans took pride in were as fragile as paper lanterns before this Vicious Oni from the age of myth.

She didn’t even deign to use the Hellfire that could incinerate all things.

Relying solely on pure physical capabilities that exceeded the limits of human imagination, she transformed these previously arrogant police officers, one by one, into broken and hideously shaped dolls.

The slaughter became a one-sided game.

“Monster! Monster! Monster!”

“Requesting backup! Headquarters! This is the crime scene! We are under attack! Repeat! We are under attack!”

Police Inspector Sakata threw away his handgun, which had run out of bullets, and all color drained from his fat face.

Like a stray dog with a broken spine, he scrambled on all fours across the ground covered in rubble and corpses, desperately fleeing toward the street.

He grabbed his walkie-talkie and used all his strength to frantically call for reinforcements.

The gunshots and screams here must have already alerted his colleagues cordoning off the streets outside.

Unfortunately, to make things easier for himself earlier, he had specifically sent all the honest officers who had nothing to do with the Miyuan Cult much further away.

It would take at least two or three minutes for the backup units to arrive.

And how long would it take Ibaraki Doji to kill these dozen or so corrupt cops?

The answer was: less than a minute.

“You can’t even last a minute? As toys, you lot are truly low-quality.”

Just as Police Inspector Sakata was about to crawl out of the ruins and see the light of the street outside, a phantom-like golden figure appeared silently in front of him, blocking his path.

On the Vicious Oni’s exquisitely beautiful face was a relaxed and pleasant smile, as if she had just finished a warm-up exercise.

It was hard to imagine that such an innocent-looking, beautiful girl had slaughtered over a dozen fully armed police officers in less than sixty seconds.

Police Inspector Sakata’s limbs went weak, and he slumped to the ground as a warm liquid instantly soaked his crotch.

He looked up and met those golden vertical pupils that held not a shred of emotion.
