Hazel had not even fallen into a deep sleep when the dream came again.
She saw the same man.
This time he was not fighting in any bloody war.
He simply stood there and looked at her with longing eyes.
He did not speak a single word, yet somehow she understood him.
He needed her help.
He was waiting for her.
Behind him, four women stood in a circle.
Hazel’s heart jumped.
She knew those faces from the old books she had read in school.
They were the Four Elemental Witches — the most powerful witches in history.
What was happening?
The dream shifted.
Now the man was on one knee in the middle of the four witches.
Their hands stretched toward him.
Different colored lights red, blue, purple, and black- poured from their palms into his body.
They spoke in a strange language Hazel could not understand.
Then everything changed again.
She stood in front of an old abandoned palace.
Strange witch symbols were carved deep into the broken walls.
The same huge white wolf stood beside the palace gates.
Its bright eyes locked on her, just like before.
“Lady Hazel?”
A soft voice pulled her out of the dream.
Hazel’s eyes opened.
Akeelah was at the door, pushing her whole body against it to keep it closed.
“Are you awake?” Akeelah asked, looking tired.
Hazel quickly stood up and walked to the door.
The moment she opened it, a hard slap landed across her face.
“How dare you stop me, fool!” Scarlett yelled.
She looked past Hazel at the three maids inside the room and frowned deeply.
“Didn’t I make it clear that I want her to stay alone? Who allowed you to bring her a proper bed?”
“I did.” The calm voice came from behind Scarlett.
Scarlett spun around in anger, then the anger vanished the second she saw Luna Charlotte.
She quickly bowed her head.
Luna Charlotte raised her chin.
Her eyes were cold.
“The Chain around her neck will not let her do anything. The maids volunteered to stay with her, and I allowed it.”
She glanced once at Hazel, then turned and walked away without another word.
Scarlett’s face twisted with anger again.
She looked at the silver moon chain still hanging around Hazel’s neck.
“I heard that chain is witchy…”
“It will not work while the collar is on her,” Luna’s sharp voice floated back from the hallway.
Scarlett lifted her chin and stared at Hazel with pure dislike.
” The chain was made with pure silver, and it didn’t affect her”, she gritted her teeth.
She had tried to steal the chain while she was asleep, but it burned her hand.
No wolf can hold the chain.
Silver is very dangerous to Werewolves, it’s part of the witches’ trick to mock werewolves…
unexpectedly, the royal wolves love silver colour so much…
even the royal symbols on the cape were silver designs.
But not really silver…
It’s either plastic or a black metal painted with silver colour…
But she was certain that Hazel Moon’s chain was made of pure silver!
She sneered, “Now that you cannot harm anyone with that dog thing around your neck, come and clean my room. It is too dirty. And give me the passwords to every box in that room.”
Hazel’s fists tightened at her sides.
She wanted to scream.
She could not wait for the day she took her own room back.
Akeelah sighed angrily once Scarlett left.
“I do not like her at all.”
Janet nodded hard.
“Neither do I.”
Her eyes became watery when she saw the Chain of Shame around her neck.
The strange thing was that Hazel wasn’t reacting anymore.
She simply stood there, blankly, as she had already stopped fighting.
Akeelah grabbed her shoulders.
“Hazel.”
Hazel looked at her in amusement.
“Don’t forget something.” Akeelah’s voice became gentle.
Iris walked into the room a moment later.
She looked at Hazel with a serious face.
“You are cleaning the library today,” she said.
“I do not want you doing the dirty jobs. Janet and Akeelah will go with you.”
She nodded at the two girls, and they nodded back.
“This is your only chance to learn everything,” Iris continued.
“They are not just your maids. You can ask them anything.”
Hazel frowned in confusion and looked at Akeelah.
Akeelah gave a small, guilty smile.
“I’m sorry… I told her about your dream. I overheard you talking about it in the garden that day. I went straight to Iris.”
Hazel nodded slowly.
She took Iris’s hands in both of hers.
“Thank you.” At least she has good people on her side.
Iris smiled, but her eyes stayed serious.
“You do not have much time left, my lady.
I was ordered to get you out of here today so you can fulfil your fate.
But I think you need to know the truth first.
Ask them everything.
We must act fast… before the witches get to you.
…..
Hazel walked down the hallway toward the library with Akeelah and Janet on both sides of her.
The long chain of the iron collar dragged softly behind her.
Two guards suddenly stepped in front of them.
“Lady Scarlett is waiting for you,” one of them said.
Akeelah and Janet opened their mouths to argue, but Hazel raised a hand and stopped them.
There was something she needed to take from that room anyway.
They followed the guards to Scarlett’s new room — the same large room that used to belong to Hazel.
As they got closer, Hazel heard soft sounds coming from inside.
Moaning.
She frowned and pushed the door open.
Then she froze the moment she saw Ryan inside the room with Scarlett.
