Bo Chen had no choice but to catch her. He furrowed his brows. “Has she been poisoned?”

Ivy hurriedly put down her chopsticks and came over to examine Yu Nianqing, but she couldn’t figure out what was wrong either. So she contacted her nephew, Allen, a doctor at Federation Hospital.

With his lips pressed together, Bo Chen scooped Yu Nianqing into his arms and carried her upstairs, laying her on the bed on the second floor. The best way to find out about Yu Nianqing’s current condition was to check her smart terminal, which contained real-time data on her physical condition.Full novel: Forced to Marry the Regent, I Became the Darling of the Entire Interstellar World — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

However, in the interstellar era, a smart terminal was an extremely private possession, containing all the data related to its owner’s life.

Even though they were now married and Bo Chen had the right to access Yu Nianqing’s smart terminal as her husband, he still chose not to do so.

It wasn’t until Butler Lin brought Dr. Allen inside that Allen took out a portable medical scanner and asked nervously, “Mr. Bo, what happened to you?”

“It’s not me.” Allen relaxed a little at that, only to hear Bo Chen continue, “It’s my wife.”

Allen froze. “You’re married?”

He had never heard that their Regent had married anyone. When Allen followed Bo Chen’s gaze, he indeed saw a young woman lying on the bed. Judging by her appearance, she didn’t look very old.

Then again, their Regent wasn’t very old either. Bo Chen was the youngest Regent in Kloss’s history, renowned for his courage and strategic brilliance.

“Please examine my wife first.” Bo Chen didn’t elaborate. Allen examined Yu Nianqing, then programmed the treatment device. A tennis-ball-sized object hovered in midair before emitting a soft golden glow that enveloped Yu Nianqing entirely.

“Mr. Bo, is your wife a congenital weak-mental-power individual?” After finishing everything, Allen turned to ask Bo Chen.

In interstellar society, everyone possessed mental power. It determined how far a person could go in society and served as a measure of their strength, while each individual’s unique talent determined their profession.

However, only those with a mental power rank of C or above could awaken their talents.

Allen asked this because he had discovered that Yu Nianqing’s brain had sustained some trauma from mental stress. She was currently receiving treatment for it. Generally speaking, only people with mental power below D-rank experienced this kind of condition without realizing it.

However, Allen’s question caused Bo Chen’s gaze to darken. No one in the Yu family had ever possessed mental power below D-rank. “What’s her current condition?”

“Her mental trauma isn’t a serious problem. She just needs to get a good night’s rest tonight.”

As Allen packed away the treatment equipment, he reminded Bo Chen, “However, you’ll need to take care to manage your mental fluctuations, Mr. Bo. Judging by Madam Bo’s condition, her mental power may be somewhere between F-rank and E-rank.”

Everyone around Bo Chen had mental power of B-rank or above, so it was perfectly understandable that he wasn’t familiar with this situation.

As the Regent of Kloss Star, Bo Chen had married someone with congenitally weak mental power. This made Allen extremely curious. After all, in the interstellar era, strength was the most important measure of a person’s worth, and mental power determined that strength.

Seeing Allen’s confusion, Bo Chen said only one thing. “She doesn’t know who I am.” Allen immediately understood.

After Butler Lin saw Allen off, he went to Bo Chen’s study and stood respectfully behind him. “Sir, Dr. Allen has already left.”

“Butler Lin, investigate Yu Nianqing.”

“Sir, is there something wrong with Madam?” Butler Lin was somewhat puzzled. He had already investigated Yu Nianqing before Sir and Madam had entered into their marriage bond.

Bo Chen remained silent for a while before instructing Butler Lin to go and rest.

That night, Yu Nianqing dreamed she was in a desert. When she woke up, she groped around in the dark, looking for water to drink. As soon as she opened her bedroom door, she stumbled forward in a daze and crashed straight into someone’s arms.

The fabric felt like smooth satin, cool to the touch, though the spot where her cheek rested against it carried a faint warmth.

“Miss Yu, we’re legally married. If you need anything, you can just tell me directly.” Bo Chen’s voice came from above her head.

Startled, Yu Nianqing stumbled backward several steps, only to trip over the smart open-flame lamp and land on the floor with a thud.

The smart lamp activated in response, floating about as it lit up. Only then did Yu Nianqing get a clear look at Bo Chen’s face.

“Y-why are you in my house?”

As soon as Yu Nianqing finished speaking, all the lights in the room switched on one by one.

“Take a good look. This is my house.”

She turned her head and examined the layout of the room. It certainly wasn’t Yu Nianqing’s home. Bo Chen was about to help her up, but when he saw her hurriedly backing away, he silently withdrew his hand.

“I didn’t do anything. Don’t make things up.”

Looking at Yu Nianqing, who seemed at a loss, Bo Chen still asked, “Yu Nianqing? Who exactly are you?”

Still groggy from sleep, Yu Nianqing froze. “Who am I? Aren’t I your wife?”

Her words made Bo Chen laugh in exasperation. It was the first time Yu Nianqing had seen him smile. She had to admit that the husband she’d gotten for free was genuinely handsome. These past few days, she’d thought he was cold and unfeeling, but when he smiled, he was quite a sight to behold.

How could she have known that Bo Chen was laughing out of sheer exasperation?

“This is Yu Nianqing’s physical fitness record from three months ago, when she enrolled at the First Federation Academy of the Interstellar Era. Apart from her slightly poor physical fitness, her results were excellent in every respect, especially her mental power, which reached the rare S-rank.” Using his smart terminal, Bo Chen pulled up the information Yu Nianqing had submitted when she enrolled at the academy three months earlier.

Yu Nianqing got up and carefully read through the records. She couldn’t help exclaiming, “Was I really that outstanding?”

Bo Chen: “…”

“Your mental power is now so weak that it doesn’t even reach D-rank. How do you explain that?” Bo Chen fired the sharp question at Yu Nianqing.

Yu Nianqing froze. She had no idea what mental power even was.

However, the original Yu Nianqing had possessed S-rank mental power. Perhaps the reason she was so weak now was that she had transmigrated into this body. In a sense, Yu Nianqing’s inner self had been replaced, so could that have changed her mental power?

“A few days ago, I was caught in an explosion… Maybe that’s when it changed,” Yu Nianqing replied uncertainly.

There was no way to hide anything from Bo Chen’s eyes. He pressed her further, step by step. “Are you a clone?”

What did he mean by a clone? Yu Nianqing retreated step by step until she had nowhere left to go. She finally plopped down on the bed. “I’m not!”

Bo Chen leaned forward, bringing his face close to hers. He came so close that her vision went out of focus. Just as his lips were about to touch the tip of her nose, Yu Nianqing fell backward onto the bed and pressed both hands against him to keep him at a distance.

“Why do you suspect me? Can DNA really be faked?” Yu Nianqing asked, frowning in displeasure.

She had transmigrated as a soul, not physically transported here as herself. What did she have to fear? Even if Yu Nianqing’s father were standing right here today, she would still be Yu Nianqing.

That was right. DNA couldn’t be faked, which was precisely why Bo Chen suspected that the Yu Nianqing before him was a clone.

Bo Chen straightened up and walked to the door. As he switched off the lights, he left her with one final remark. “Get some rest. We’ll go to the academy tomorrow for a test, and then we’ll know whether you’re real or fake.”

The entire room suddenly plunged into darkness, leaving only one smart open-flame lamp, which floated over to Yu Nianqing’s side.

“Fine, I’ll go! I’m not afraid!” Yu Nianqing muttered.

Just as she was about to close her eyes, she suddenly remembered that she’d gotten up to drink some water. When she sat up, she spotted a bottle of water on the bedside table.

Yu Nianqing looked at it in confusion. ‘Had there been a bottle of water here just now?’
