Lisette’s parents went through quite the process to pick Tobias as their son-in-law.

It wasn’t about family ties or anything.

They just wanted someone solid who could make sure their daughter lived a life of ease and comfort – no stress, no mess.Full novel: From Betrayed Wife to Billionaire Queen — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Just pure rich-lady vibes.

They imagined her days would be easy-breezy, just like her mom’s.

Spa days here, shopping sprees there, walk the pup, play with the cat, maybe hop on a plane for some international fun.

Anything tricky?

Leave it to the boys.

That girl was meant to be pampered!

Bryce had always been soft when it came to Lisette – he practically wanted to keep her wrapped in bubble wrap.

Before now, he’d even hoped Tobias would be the same kind of protective.

But now?

That hope was in pieces.

Tobias actually let his delicate little sister jump headfirst into showbiz?

Bryce was officially upset.

“Bryce!”

Lisette latched onto his arm, giving it a little shake, her voice all cutesy and sweet.

“I really wanna be a manager.

I love this job!”

“But…” He tried to talk her out of it.

Tobias cut in, voice steady.

“With me around, she won’t be hurt.”

Bryce trusted Tobias to handle things, sure.

But worrying about Lisette was basically part of his DNA.

He still reminded her, “Don’t play hero.

Call me first if anything happens.”

“Yep yep, got it!”

Once she finally shuffled Bryce off to take a relaxing bath, Lisette let out a breath.

Then Tobias chimed in, his tone low and firm, “Call me first.”

“…What?”

Really?

We’re doing this?

“My assistant’s sister,” he said.

“She’s a martial arts champion.

She’ll work with you.”

Maybe realizing his tone was a bit too business-like, he added, gentler this time, “That okay with you?”

Lisette’s expression lit up.

“Wait, a martial arts champ…

working with me?”

She started daydreaming on the spot.

Picture it – a tall, muscular girl with killer arms, muscles flexing and fists clenched.

She’d stand next to her looking all intimidating, and anyone wanting to start trouble?

Gotta peace out real quick.

Glorious.

“Not a bad setup, right?”

Afternoon light trickled through the leaves, hitting Tobias’s sharp features just right.

He looked at her, puzzled. This chapter is updated first at g.com.

Lisette’s heart practically danced.

“No, it’s great!

I’m hyped!

Can’t wait to fight our way through the industry!”

“As long as you’re happy.”

Tobias had the kind of face that just screamed “don’t mess with me.” When expressionless, he looked so cold and distant people barely dared to look him in the eye.

But when he softened, just the tiniest bit, it was enough to warm Lisette’s whole heart.

She was really looking forward to this.

Until…

The next day, Lisette was stunned.

Standing in front of her was someone barely five foot two, with a backpack, student bangs, and a fluffy coat with bunny ears.

Her round cheeks and baby face were seriously too cute.

Lisette stared at the girl, then at Elliot.

And again.

And again.

Her voice wavered.

“This is your sister?”

“Yes, ma’am,” Elliot replied.

The girl lit up with a smile so sweet it gave cavities.

“Hi!

I’m Hannah Jameson.

You can call me Hanny!”

Even the name’s adorable.

Lisette’s worldview was crumbling…

and rebuilding itself.

This soft-spoken, cutesy girl looked like she’d barely made it past middle school.

Zero threat level.

But she was supposed to be…the martial arts champ?

Something must’ve seriously glitched in her respawn!

So now anyone can be a martial arts champ just by being cute?

What, is winning by melting the opponent with adorableness a valid strategy now?

Lisette leaned slightly toward Tobias, lowering her voice.

“Tobias, seriously, when you look at us side by side, don’t I look more like the dangerous one?”

Tobias mirrored her posture, voice equally low.

“Don’t judge a book by its cover.”

Lisette gave him a speechless look.

“I mean, yeah, I get that.

But come on, the contrast is kinda wild, don’t you think?”

Tobias raised a well-shaped brow, calm and unfazed.

“So, what do you think she should be like?”

Lisette coughed lightly, “Someone like you.”

He stood tall, strong, around 6’2″, and just being near him made people instinctively straighten up.

He had that aura – like if he stood in your way, you’d think twice before even talking, let alone starting something.

Tobias mused, “Want me to be your assistant instead?”

Lisette choked on her own breath. New chapters come out on g.com first.

“Thanks but no thanks.

Last I checked, billionaires don’t do coffee runs.”

He shrugged lightly.

“Well, I’ve never assisted anyone before.

I could use some training.

Internships are usually unpaid, right?”

They were standing close, and he even bent down a bit to talk to her at eye level – it almost felt intimate.

His tone was surprisingly sincere.

Lisette gave him a playful glare.

“Come on, boss daddy.

Ease up.

I don’t wanna end up on your company’s hit list.”

She turned to get a better look at Hannah, her ultra-cute little assistant.

Round cheeks, soft skin – honestly, she looked like someone from a plushie commercial.

Hannah, cheerful as ever, rummaged through her backpack and pulled out a small box, handing it to Lisette like they were longtime friends.

“These are rose pastries, super famous!

Want one?”

Lisette blinked in surprise, caught off guard by the enthusiasm, but took it.

One bite in, her expression lit up.

“Whoa…

this is actually amazing.”

Well, there’s no saying no to someone who feeds you delicious snacks.

Whether Hannah could fight or not, she was hired in Lisette’s mind right then and there.

She pinched Hannah’s chubby cheek and told Elliot, “Don’t worry, your sister’s in good hands.

I’ll treat her well – lots of good eats and fun times.”

Elliot got a bit too excited.

“Thank you, ma’am!”

Lisette frowned.

“Huh?”

Why did it feel like he just happily pawned off his sister with no refunds accepted?

Something definitely felt off, but she brushed it aside for now.

After saying goodbye to Tobias, she headed to VistaSphere with Hannah in tow.

Despite looking like she just graduated middle school, Hannah was actually three months older than Lisette.

Once they exchanged birthdays, Hannah puffed up her chest proudly.

“Lisette, I’ve got your back now.

If anyone messes with you, I’ll beat them so hard they forget their own name!”

Lisette pictured it for a second…

A tiny ball of cuteness going toe-to-toe with some big dude built like a tank…

One punch and she’d probably fly ten meters.

Yeah, Lisette quietly pulled up Tobias’s number and set it as a speed dial – just in case she needed backup stat.

“We’re here, ma’am.”

The car came to a stop.

Lisette and Hannah stepped out.

No sooner had Lisette touched the ground than a figure, completely covered up and gender barely distinguishable, dashed out of nowhere, blocking her path.

Hannah’s reflexes kicked in – she stuffed her popcorn into her pocket and launched a punch without missing a beat.

“Take this!”
