Fang Zhigang said angrily, “What use is it if I like her? She’s Captain Qin’s fiancée, and she even dared to hit me. If she were in my hands, I’d make sure she wished she were dead and couldn’t survive!”
Even hearing such cruel words, Fang Yingqiu wasn’t surprised at all.
She knew Fang Zhigang had some connections with human traffickers. The number of lives he had taken was probably not small.
Fang Yingqiu shook her head. “Qin Xutao doesn’t like her. Soon enough, he’ll break off the engagement. If you really want her, I can tell you her whereabouts. When she’s alone, you can make your move.”
Fang Zhigang looked at her suspiciously. “Are you serious?”
“But that girl is so pretty… are you really saying Captain Qin will break off the engagement? You’re not fooling me, are you?”
Fang Yingqiu remained expressionless, her nails digging painfully into her palm. “Just tell me whether you want me to help or not!”
Fang Zhigang didn’t hesitate long. A grin spread across his face. “Don’t say anything else—I do want her! I’ll wait for your message.”
Fang Yingqiu’s hands trembled as she returned to the courtyard.
She forced a smile and told Fang’s mother, “Zhigang went back home.”
Fang’s mother exhaled in relief.
There was no further commotion, and the crowd gradually dispersed.
But Su Su felt something was odd. Fang Zhigang was clearly a vicious, dangerous man. How had Fang Yingqiu persuaded him to leave?
Not wanting to dwell on it for now, Su Su decided to think about it later.
Back in her dorm, she immediately lay down comfortably on the bed.
When she opened her eyes again, the smell of food reached her.
Stepping out of the bedroom, she saw Qin Xutao had returned from the cafeteria with some dishes.
Without hesitation, Su Su sat down and began eating.
Qin Xutao’s gaze landed on her. “I heard Fang Zhigang came to the military housing this afternoon?”
Su Su’s eyes widened. How did Qin Xutao know?
She paused mid-bite, huffing, “Aren’t you not familiar with Fang Yingqiu? How would you know about Fang Zhigang? Are you lying to me?”
Qin Xutao pressed his lips together. “I’m not lying. Fang Zhigang really isn’t a good person. Be careful, don’t go out for a while.”
Su Su pouted. She knew very well that Fang Zhigang wasn’t a good person, but he had already left, so there was no danger now.
Three days later, while retrieving her clothes, Su Su was suddenly grabbed by the nose and knocked unconscious. Only then did she regret not listening to Qin Xutao.
When she came to, she felt a sharp pain on her forehead, blood running down her cheek.
Opening her eyes, she saw she was inside an abandoned factory.
Several other girls about her age were there as well.
Su Su frowned—had she encountered human traffickers again?
She couldn’t just wait to die. Her immediate priority was self-rescue, but she also couldn’t abandon the other girls.
Thinking quickly, Su Su pulled out a small knife from her space and quickly cut through the ropes binding her.
Suddenly, she heard footsteps outside and a man’s voice:
“Zhigang, remember on the train, we got caught by the cops because of that little girl!”
“We’ve been wanting to teach her a lesson, but she’s mostly in the military. Luckily, your sister gave us info so we could catch her.”
“I know you like her, just don’t kill her while having fun.”
Creak—
The door opened.
Su Su immediately dropped to the floor, pretending to be asleep, while her mind raced.
First, she’d been abducted.
Second, the kidnappers were part of the same group from the train, and Fang Zhigang was among them.
Finally, her whereabouts had been leaked by Fang Yingqiu.
No wonder Fang Yingqiu had been subtly trying to extract information from her these past few days!
A rough hand touched her cheek, the stench of filth filling the air.
Fang Zhigang stared at her triumphantly, eager to undo his belt. “Little bitch, ended up in my hands, didn’t you?”
Anger surged in Su Su. She snapped her eyes open, aimed carefully, and kicked hard—
Ah! Ah! Ah!
Fang Zhigang doubled over, screaming in pain, veins bulging on his forehead. “You little bitch! Weren’t you unconscious? Don’t you see the situation you’re in and still dare to kick me?! If I don’t crush you today, I’m not a Fang!”
He leapt toward Su Su, full of rage.
Su Su seized the moment and dodged.
Fang Zhigang didn’t react in time; his forehead slammed into a table with a crash, and he passed out, half-conscious and bleeding.
Su Su hurriedly freed the ropes binding the other girls.
“Follow me.”
Surprisingly, they all remained still. One young girl, pale and blank-eyed, said, “It’s useless. They’ll catch us and beat us. Others have tried to escape before, but she was beaten to death right in front of us.”
“I suggest you kneel and apologize if you want to survive.”
Su Su frowned. It seemed she would have to go outside to get help first and then return to rescue them.
Just as she was about to leave, a girl shouted, “Someone’s trying to escape!”
Su Su didn’t look back and leapt out of the window. Her palms scraped raw against the rough ground.
She ignored the pain and ran with all her might.
Chaotic footsteps followed closely behind.
Su Su tripped suddenly. Just as she thought she would fall hard, a strong, warm embrace caught her again.
A familiar voice rang out: “Don’t be afraid! I’m here to save you.”
Tears streamed down Su Su’s face as she buried herself in Qin Xutao’s arms, trembling, fingers clutching his arm tightly.
Nearby, team members looked uneasy. “Captain, we need to move quickly.”
Hearing the others, Su Su realized Qin Xutao wasn’t in plain clothes. She wiped her tears. “Go ahead.”
Qin Xutao nodded, his gaze instantly sharp and commanding.
With a hand signal, the other team members advanced, forming a perimeter around the abandoned factory, keeping Su Su safely behind.
Soon, the entire human trafficking group was captured, including the already unconscious Fang Zhigang.
The girls were rescued and taken to the police station. After verification, they would be able to return home.
Su Su’s eyes were red. “So you already knew Fang Zhigang was connected to the trafficking group. Why didn’t you just tell me?”
Qin Xutao pressed his lips, his voice cold. “It was a confidential mission. But those people will pay for it.”
Su Su understood it wasn’t his fault, but she still felt scared and wronged.
“By the way, I heard Fang Zhigang say that it was Fang Yingqiu who told him my whereabouts.”
Qin Xutao’s expression grew even colder. “No one got away. After interrogation, we’ll find out everything. If Fang Yingqiu is involved, she’ll face the consequences!”
