Lynette’s Diary:
Monday.
Today is the first day of my quarrel with my brother, and of running away from home in a fit of pique.
He has always been full of love for magic.
Even though the boss is ruthlessly exploiting us, he doesn’t care in the slightest, his whole mind set only on honing his craft and performing.
But I’ve grown weary of this kind of life.
I saw on the news that even two of Teyvat Advanced Academy’s school directors could run off.
So why couldn’t I?
Everyone says Venti’s free-spirited remarks are a bit scattered and irresponsible, but I think he’s fine.
Venti should count as my guide, shouldn’t he?
That said, I’m not the sort of person who only cares about herself and ignores everything else.
I did leave a note on my brother’s side too, telling him of my resolve to rest for a while, and that I’m safe and sound.
To keep from being found, to hide myself, I even underwent a transformation—a secret I haven’t told even my brother…
Whether it’s luck or misfortune, I don’t know.
While passing by Wanmin Restaurant in the form of a cat, I locked eyes with a young man.
Just as I was about to go look for a hiding spot, he inexplicably scooped me up, muttering something like “she’s coming home with me.”
For some reason, I didn’t feel much guard toward him.
I always felt he carried a lazy air about him.
It was his essence.
I thought we might be the same kind of people, so I simply didn’t put up much of a fight and went home with him.
Only then did I learn that this home didn’t belong to the young man, but to a…
girl who looked a bit cute and a bit clever.
I kept feeling she resembled someone I’d seen on the news.
Only that person dressed all in white, while this one dressed in blue, and her aura was completely different.
I must have been mistaken…
Wednesday.
I’ve figured it out now.
The young man is called Su Yu, and the girl is called Furina.
Su Yu gave me a name: Wangcai.
Furina strongly objected, and in the end they called me Maomao.
Actually, I don’t much care what people call me, but Maomao is a bit better than Wangcai, so I’m happy enough with it.
Friday.
Life here is quite nice.
Eat and sleep, sleep and eat.
A cat’s life is truly comfortable.
But it seems Su Yu and Furina are both from the same school as me.
Good thing I took a leave of absence for a while in advance, otherwise going to school would be a real problem.
I don’t want to go to school…
I don’t want to work…
I want to sleep…
Entering standby power-saving mode…
Sunday.
Su Yu and Furina really like me.
They’re always petting my fur.
Su Yu especially likes to touch my tail.
Since he likes it, I’ll let him touch it.
I’ll just treat it as the rent and food expenses for staying here.
Ah, writing a diary is so tiring.
After I eat, I’ll go to sleep.
Su Yu looked at the black cat, listless and yawning again and again, and felt somewhat puzzled.
This little cat.
Every day it just flops down over there and sleeps, as if trying to make up for all the sleep of its past life.
He didn’t know whose cat it was, so well-behaved and quiet.
Why had no one wanted it?
Ah, it has to be me, Great Philanthropist Su.
Such a cute little cat must of course be ruthlessly snuggled by me!
At this thought, Su Yu gently scooped the little cat into his arms, not noticing that the little blue cake beside the sofa wore a somewhat odd expression.
As Su Yu brought his face close to the cat’s fur, intending to take a sniff, Furina finally couldn’t hold back.
She teleported to his side and sat down.
The girl drew in her belly slightly and poked Su Yu in the waist with her finger.
“Is the cat really that cute?”
“Of course it’s cute!”
“Then…”
Furina didn’t finish her sentence.
It wasn’t that she disliked cats.
She liked this cat too, this fellow homeless creature so similar in nature to Su Yu.
But in the past, most of Su Yu’s attention at home had been focused on her.
And now, the first choice was no longer her.
This inevitably stirred ripples in the girl’s heart.
She of course knew Su Yu had some money on hand now.
Apart from Paimon and the System, Su Yu didn’t keep many secrets from Furina.
So she naturally worried that one day Su Yu might take the cat and leave her home to live somewhere else.
After all, she knew Su Yu’s lazy nature all too well.
If Su Yu chose to move out just because he didn’t want to cook for her anymore, she really wouldn’t find it strange.
Before, she could still use her “number one cutest in the world” status, that Su Yu surely couldn’t bear to part with her, to deceive herself.
But now, as Maomao’s status gradually rose and she received more and more of Su Yu’s affection, Furina couldn’t help but feel a sense of crisis.
Lumine hadn’t made her feel wary.
After all, she was too shameless.
Kamisato Ayaka hadn’t made her feel wary, because she felt the Kamisato family’s influence was considerable, and the gap between their backgrounds was too great.
As for her own background, ahem, how could that be the same!
Nor had the other upperclassmen, underclassmen, and peers at school made her feel wary.
The reason, ultimately, was that she felt she was close to Su Yu.
With such an innate advantage, how could she lose?
In short, winning was all that mattered.
Actually, Furina couldn’t quite figure out whether what she cared about was Su Yu’s seemingly inexhaustible supply of new dessert creations, or Su Yu himself.
In any case, it was fine when she couldn’t see it.
But the moment she saw Su Yu’s eyes filled with some other creature, she felt a little strange.
As if something that originally belonged only to her was no longer exclusively hers.
she was clearly the one who came first.
Why didn’t Su Yu look at her with that kind of gaze?!
Was she not as cute as the cat?!
Furina’s heart clamored endlessly, but Su Yu naturally had no idea.
Even if he did know, he could only cry out in loud protest of his innocence.
Furina was, after all, a person, not a small animal.
In front of her, Su Yu had to restrain his urge to give her a good vigorous snuggle.
He didn’t want to be taken for a pervert, hey!
Wouldn’t ruthlessly sniffing his own landlady get him hauled off for “three square meals a day on a regulated diet”…?
It definitely would, right!
Just as Su Yu set the little black cat on the sofa and prepared to properly keep company with the somewhat neglected Furina, a knock came at the door.
Su Yu, somewhat helpless, went to answer it.
It seemed he’d have to wait a bit later to have a good talk with Furina.
The visitor was, as expected, Lumine…
his own?
Where was Aether?
That guy treasured his little sister so much.
How could he let her come find me alone?
“Hi, Su Yu, tomorrow’s Monday, and Study Week is about to start.
Do you still have time today?
How about we go out for a stroll together?”
Say what you will.
When she wasn’t being shameless, Lumine was truly a gentle, quiet, beautiful girl, a pair of eyes that could drip water seeming able to speak.
“Cut the small talk.
Do I not know you?
Go on, what is it you want to ask of me?”
Su Yu pressed down the hand Lumine had twined around his arm and said with a helpless tone.
He was of course no master of feigned ignorance.
It was simply that he knew Lumine all too well.
In his previous life, he’d followed at Lumine’s heels every day in the game, and now the two were neighbors.
Whether it was pure clinginess or asking for a favor, Su Yu could tell at a glance.
“Huh?
How did you see through it?
Even Aether can’t see through my disguise…”
Lumine’s affectionate gestures didn’t stop, but she still lightly pursed her lips when Su Yu wasn’t looking.
“Tone of voice, tone of voice.
When you’ve got something to ask of someone, your pitch is higher and your voice is more coy.
Normally, your voice is dull with a touch of shamelessness.
It’s easy to tell.”
Su Yu lightly rapped two fingers on Lumine’s head, drawing a mournful cry from the girl.
“Ugh, fine.
I heard you’ve opened a company now, right, Su Yu!
Are you still short on people?”
