She stood near the small table, her eyes searching his face.
“Sheng,” she began, her voice low and steady.
“I keep saying it, but I’ll say it again. I made a promise to you when we started this journey together. I told you I would be your medicine, I will be here whenever the world become too much.”
“I’m going now to get some rest, but please, if you need anything, I am just call away. I will be here for you always.”
Lin Sheng looked at her, his expression softening as he hard defensive melted away.
Habiba, sensing his need, shift in the mood, leaned in with a mischievous glint in her eye.
“You really look like you need to rest, Lao ban,” she teased.
Lin Sheng groaned, through a faint, reluctant smile touched his lips.
“Habiba, please. Stop calling me that, just call me Sheng, i like that.”
Habiba laughed, a low, melodic sound.
She stepped closer, her voice dropping into a teasing, sultry register, as she whispered, “Okay, okey, Sheng.”
The way she said his name—the softness, the deliberate sexy inflection—hit Lin Sheng like a physical touch.
He felt a jolt of warmth rush through him, a genuine happiness that touched his very soul.
Outside, pressed against cold aluminum of the trailer, Chen Kai stood in the shadows.
He heard every word his heart tightening.
He waited until Habiba exited and disappeared toward her own trailer before he stepped inside.
“Bro, are you in love with her?” Chen Kai asked, his voice raw.
Lin Sheng’s smile faltered, replaced by a defensive wall.
“Why are you asking me such a thing?”
Chen Kai stepped forward, his eyes earnest.
“I’m asking because I adore you lin… you’re my idol, my friend. But I’ve seen the way you kiss her—the desperation, the agony. I think, Seeing us hug outside is what triggered that state. It was painful to watch, man. If you love her, tell me. Can See Habiba is suffering in this process; it pains her to see you in that State.”
“I love her immensely, but I will step back—not because I don’t love her as much, as you but because I don’t want her or you in pain. I care too much for you both”
Lin Sheng stared at him, stunned by the sincerity.
The Silence stretched, heavy with the weight of Chen Kai’s words.
Then Lin sheng let out a low weary laugh.”Come on, Chen.
If you love her, don’t come and ask me those questions here. The source of this chapter is g.com.
Oh!
I’m hungry.
I’m going to grab something to eat.”
He turned and walked out.
Chen Kai didn’t let him escape.
He jogged to catch up, wrapping his arm firmly around Lin Sheng’s shoulder a neck, shaking him playfully.
“Lin, are you in love with her? Tell me! Tell me!”
Lin Sheng pushed him away, a genuine smile breaking across his face.
“Get off me!” He started to run, laughing, and Chen Kai chased after him, the two of them sprinting across the lot like children, their shadows stretching long across the ground as they headed toward the mess tent.
The heavy tension had vanished, replaced by a fleeting, beautiful moment of pure, brotherly connection.
