Chapter 22: Jet Vs Vorpal Bunny [ 3 ]

Global Awakening: Starting With Ten SSS-Rank Talents

SHUCK! BOOM!

The bunny executed a wide, sweeping horizontal slash that Jet managed to avoid by dropping into a low crouch.

The long bone blade didn’t hit Jet, but the sheer momentum carried the steel-like edge straight into a young, solid pine tree standing nearby.

The thick trunk was severed completely in a single, smooth diagonal cut. The small tree violently exploded upon contact with the Vorpal Bunny’s blade, its top half crashing loudly into the brush and kicking up a massive cloud of pine needles and loose dust.

Jet surged upward from his crouch like a coiled spring, driving his shoulder straight into the bunny’s midsection as it landed from the swing. The impact frame was massive.

The sheer weight distribution of his larger frame drove the creature backward, its paws skidding frantically through the mud. A small, deep ditch appeared here and there across the clearing as their heavy boots and paws continuously tore into the earth, transforming the green mossy oasis into a ruined, brown battlefield of churned soil and shattered branches.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The rhythm of the battle reached an insane, high-frequency pace. The bunny was a pure speed-type hunter, its footwork light, evasive, and entirely non-linear. It constantly used the environment, bouncing off the thick trunks of the ancient trees to launch multi-directional aerial ambushes from Jet’s blind spots.

But Jet’s Asura Physique was adapting to the frantic speed with visible efficiency. The deep, burning pulse on his back was no longer just a warmth; it felt like a roaring furnace of pure combat instinct that was actively rewriting his reflexes in real-time.

His line of sight was completely locked onto the creature’s center of mass. He stopped trying to track the individual flashes of the blades; instead, his brain began to naturally calculate the spatial positions of where the bunny had to land after every leap.

The bunny bounced off a high root, descending from the upper left quadrant with both blades crossed in a lethal downward execution piercer.Jet stood his ground, his eyes wide and burning with a crazed fervor.

He didn’t step back. He didn’t roll. He calculated the weight and physics of the descent down to the millisecond. The exact moment the dual blades reached his line of sight, Jet threw his left arm straightupward into the trajectory of the right weapon, intentionally sacrificing his flesh to create a terminal bottleneck.

SHUCK!

The cold single-edged blade pierced completely through the meat of his left forearm, the steel-like tip protruding out from the opposite side of his wrist. Crimson blood erupted from the puncture, soaking the bunny’s paw.

The intense, blinding pain hit Jet’s cerebral cortex like an electric shock, but his facial expression didn’t even flinch. His jaw was locked in a manic, cold determination.

By allowing his left arm to be skewered, he had successfully locked the bunny’s position in mid-air. The creature was trapped, its light body hanging from his forearm, unable to utilize its high-frequency footwork to dodge the counter.

"My turn," Jet snarled, his voice a low, gravelly roar.

With his right hand completely free, he raised the jagged, heavy ironwood stake. He didn’t aim for a shallow slash; he put the entire physical strength he can currently muster behind a single, brutal downward plunge.

He targeted the base of the bunny’s right front limb, the shoulder joint holding the secondary weapon.

CRUNCH!

The jagged splintered tip of the ironwood stake drove straight through the thick muscle layers and slammed directly into the bone socket of the creature’s right paw. The raw, blunt force distribution shattered the interior bone structure to splinters.

The single-edged blade attached to the limb violently warped out of alignment, its internal nerve strands severed completely. Jet twisted the stake with a cold, ruthless rotation, completely crippling the paw.

The Vorpal Bunny let out an unhinged, agonizing shriek of pure torment, its ruby eyes widening to their absolute limits as blood sprayed from its ruined shoulder.

But Jet had paid a massive, severe price to land that decisive, crippling blow. The exact millisecond the stake shattered its right joint, the bunny’s remaining left paw blade moved in a desperate, high-velocity survival reflex. It executed a vicious upward diagonal rip across Jet’s front torso.

SPLAT!

The sharp steel edge sliced cleanly from Jet’s left hip all the way up to his right collarbone. A massive, deep cut opened across his chest, splitting his tattered black shirt completely in two. Blood shot out from the wide laceration in a thick spray, staining the front of his body in a horrific sheet of deep red.

The physical trauma was so severe that Jet’s rooted stance finally buckled, his grip on the stake loosening as the sheer recoil of the mutual injuries forced both combatants apart.

The bunny violently wrenched its left blade out of Jet’s punctured forearm, using its remaining functional hind legs to propel its body backward across the mud.Jet stumbled backward five full steps, his combat boots skidding through a fresh, small ditch before his heels hit the solid base of a massive ironwood root.

He leaned heavily against the bark, his chest heaving in short, ragged, and wet gasps as the blood from his chest wound rapidly poured down his stomach, dripping onto his boots. His face was entirely translucent white from the sudden, massive blood loss, his left arm hangingloosely at his side, blood continuously leaking from the puncture hole in his wrist.

Ten meters across the ruined clearing, the Vorpal Bunny landed heavily on its side before scrambling back onto its remaining three paws.

The creature was an absolute mess. Its pristine white fur was completely ruined, clotted with thick black mud, green insect fluid, and dark crimson human blood. Its right front limb hung completely limp and broken, the bone-blade dragging uselessly through the dirt like a dead weight.

It was now only left with its single left paw blade to defend its life. Its chest was heaving with an identical, frantic rhythm to Jet’s, its breathing rattling through its fractured ribs as a thick mix of blood and saliva dripped from its front incisors.

The clearing fell back into that suffocating, heavy vacuum of absolute silence. The wind died down entirely, and the dust from the exploded pine tree slowly settled over the blood-stained moss.

The two figures stood perfectly separated across the brown, torn earth. Neither moved a single muscle.

Their bloodshot eyesremained unblinkingly locked onto each other across the distance, their gazes filled with a cold, unyielding, and absolute killing intent that burned through the shadows of the forest canopy.

They both knew the next exchange would be the final one.
