Antony stared at the combat evaluation.

"High Orange."

Roxanna leaned over.Full novel: Global lords: My wife is an SSS-RANKED Goddess. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

"That sounds about right."

He looked at her.

"You say that like this isn’t strange."

"It isn’t."

"My territory is Red, you know."

"You are not your territory," she calmly said.

"Most Lords are around the same general level as their core," he countered.

"Most Lords aren’t married to me."

Antony stared at her completely dumbfounded.

Roxanna turned one page.

"You’ve been training with me for five years, what did you expect?" she said.

"Training is a generous description of what you did," he jokingly said.

"You survived."

"That’s not how normal teachers measure success."

"It is how I measure success."

Antony shook his head.

Michael shifted on his chest.

Both immediately lowered their voices.

Roxanna continued softly.

"You were already stronger than most Red Lords before we married. I only corrected your mana circulation, strengthened your channels, taught you proper wing combat, fixed your terrible Light Spear technique..."

"My Light Spear was fine."

"It bent."

"Once."

"It bent around the target."

"The wind shifted with it."

"There was no wind, stop making excuses for that every single time."

His narrowed his eyes.

She smiled.

"Sweetheart, you are strong."

He looked back at the screen.

Not powerful by the standards of monsters like Roxanna, not even close, but high Orange combat strength while controlling a Red Core territory meant most neighboring Lords would badly underestimate him.

That was useful.

The synchronization percentage caught his attention.

"What happens at one hundred?" He asked her.

Roxanna shrugged.

"How would I know? Ask your system."

Antony did but nothing happened.

He stared at tve screen for a while before trying again.

Roxanna smiled.

"Don’t waste your time, it likes secrets."

"I’ve noticed."

A new line appeared.

[Lord-Territory Synchronization increases through meaningful territorial development.]

[As the territory grows, the Lord receives proportional physical, magical, perceptive, and authoritative reinforcement.]

[Territory evolution will produce significant synchronization benefits.]

Antony’s eyebrows rose.

"So the larger the territory becomes... You grow with it."

Roxanna nodded.

"Which is normal for Lords."

"Not this directly," he said.

"No."

Antony looked down at Michael.

The child had one tiny hand pressed against his shirt.

"So Family System rewards, normal Lord growth, and whatever you’ve done to me."

Roxanna smiled.

"You’re welcome. This is the advantage of marrying someone as perfect as me."

Antony laughed quietly.

"At this rate people are going to accuse me of cheating because of my perfect and beautiful wife."

"You are cheating."

"I knew it."

Family time became the only part of Antony’s schedule he refused to sacrifice.

No council meetings during breakfast unless someone was dying. No construction reports during dinner.

At least one hour every evening belonged to Roxanna and Michael.

Oren tested this rule once.

He knocked on the private sitting room door shortly after sunset.

Antony opened it halfway.

"What?"

Oren held up a document.

"The western quarry output..."

"Tomorrow."

"It affects construction."

"Tomorrow."

"It’s important."

Michael made a small noise from inside.

Oren looked past Antony.

Roxanna sat on the carpet with Michael lying on a blanket in front of her.

The child was attempting to grab one of his own feet.

Oren looked back at Antony.

"Tomorrow it is."

"Excellent."

Antony closed the door on his face, making sure to be as quiet as possible.

Roxanna laughed.

"Very lordly."

"I am establishing boundaries."

"You hid behind our son."

"I used available resources."

She shook her head.

He returned to the carpet where Michael had succeeded in grabbing his foot and seemed deeply impressed with himself.

Antony sat down.

"Look at that."

Roxanna smiled.

"He’s been trying for five minutes. He takes after you."

"Yeah, and just as handsome. He has your looks though."

"No, unfortunately you won’t with him. But the next one is going to look like me."

He looked up at her.

"You’re already planning for another child. Michael is mire than enough."

She chuckled.

"We’ll see."

Before he could respind, Michael released his foot and immediately reached toward him instead.

He offered one finger.

The baby grabbed it.

The gesture was simple, tiny and meaningless to anyone else but Antony stared at the small hand wrapped around his finger.

All the maps, walls, mines, districts, refugees, soldiers, and Territory Core requirements suddenly felt very distant.

Roxanna leaned against his shoulder.

"Tired?"

"Always."

"Regret it?"

Antony didn’t even need to ask what she meant.

"No. He’s the best thing to ever happen to me. After you of course."

She softly chuckled.

"Even the screaming?" She jokingly asked.

"Ask me at three in the morning."

"Sweetheart."

Antony laughed.

"No." He looked toward Michael. "Not even then."

Roxanna rested her head against him. For several minutes, neither spoke, then Michael made a strange bubbling noise.

Both of them looked down at him.

The baby smiled.

Antony froze.

"Did you see that?"

"I saw it."

"That was at me."

"It could have been gas."

Antony looked horrified.

"Don’t ruin this."

Roxanna laughed.

"It was definitely at you."

Antony looked ridiculously pleased at the admission.

The next morning, he returned to work. Months of steady development had transformed the territory.

New residential roads stretched outward from the old settlement. The beginnings of a craftsmen’s district smoked in the east.

Three new warehouses operated near separate gates. The first permanent school building had foundations.

Additional farms covered newly cleared southern fields. The border Mist Towers had increased from two to seven. Merchant traffic was growing. The population continued climbing.

And beneath the manor, the Territory Core had changed.

It was still Red, but orange light now occasionally flickered deep within its center.

Antony stood before it with Oren, Alric, Seris, and several department heads.

The system displayed the updated evaluation.

[Urelias Territory]

[Territory Core: RED - Peak Stage]

[Population: 5,347]

[Territory Stability: 91%]

[Territory Prosperity: 78%]

[Military Readiness: 51%]

[Resource Sustainability: 81%]

[Infrastructure Development: 74%]

[Administrative Efficiency: 63%]

[Core Energy Saturation: 92%]

[Orange Core Evolution Conditions: 7/9 fulfilled.]

Alric leaned closer to look at it.

"Two."

Antony nodded.

"Two conditions left."

Seris folded her arms.

"Do we know which?"

"No," Antony responded.

Oren frowned.

"I hate hidden conditions."

"So do I," he said.

One of the administrators spoke.

"Could population be one?"

"Maybe," Oren said.

"Military?"

"We passed fifty," Alric said.

"Trade?"

"Possibly." Oren looked toward Antony. "Or something more abstract."

He sighed.

"That’s reassuring."

The Red Core pulsed, a thin streak of orange passing through it.

Everyone saw it.

Silence followed as they marveled at it. It was a colour non of them had ever thought they would reach.

Seris smiled.

"Well."

Alric’s grin widened.

"Looks like it wants to evolve."

Antony stared at the light.

Months ago, he’d failed the three-week challenge. At the time, he’d been irritated, now he understood why.

A territory wasn’t a building, a barracks upgrade, or simply a core filled with enough mana.

It was thousands of lives functioning together. A city couldn’t be rushed into existence because a system offered a reward.

Antony looked toward his officers.

"No forcing it."

Alric glanced at him.

"You think we would?" He said. "I’ve seen what happens when Lords get greedy."

Everyone understood the reference.

Antony continued in a firm voice.

"We grow properly."

Oren smiled.

"That almost sounded wise."

"Almost?"

"You still approved three separate expansion projects yesterday."

"They were necessary."

"One was a public bathhouse."

"Have you smelled the construction district?"

Seris burst out laughing.

Antony ignored her.

Another prompt suddenly appeared. This one wasn’t from the normal Territory Interface.

Antony recognized the golden edge immediately.

Family System.

He didn’t react outwardly.

[Family Development Update.]

[Your family’s home is expanding.]

[Michael Urelias has resided safely within Urelias Territory for three consecutive months.]

[No direct threats have reached your immediate family.]

[Family Safety rating increased.]

[Family Prosperity +25.]

Then another message followed.

[New Family Quest generated.]

[Growing Up Safe.]

[Your firstborn has survived his earliest months and has begun developing awareness of the world around him.]

[Prepare Urelias Territory for the childhood of your heir.]

[Objectives:]

[Establish one functioning school.]

[Establish one permanent healer’s hall.]

[Create one protected family garden or recreational area.]

[Increase territory food reserves to support six months of emergency consumption.]

[Reach Orange Territory Core.]

[Reward: Heir Nurturing Function unlocked.]

[Additional Family Prosperity rewards available.]

Antony stared for a moment, then almost laughed.

Alric looked over.

"What?"

"Nothing."

"You have that expression."

"What expression?"

"The one you get when you’re about to add more construction."

Oren’s face immediately fell.

"My Lord."

Antony smiled.

"We’re building a school."

Oren stared.

"We are already building a school."

"Good." Antony turned toward the core. "And apparently we’re finishing it sooner."

Seris sighed dramatically.

"There goes everyone’s sleep."

Antony smiled.

His gaze remained fixed on the orange light moving inside the Red Core.

He had failed to reach Orange in three weeks, that no longer bothered him.l, because the territory standing above them was not the same place it had been when the challenge began.

More than a thousand new people called it home.

Plus with every meaningful improvement on the territory and family it strengthened Antony in return.

The system had originally told him to build a home worthy of his family. Antony was finally starting to understand what that actually meant.

He placed one hand against the Territory Core.

Orange light flickered beneath his palm.

"Take your time."

Oren raised an eyebrow.

Antony smiled faintly.

"We’ll get there properly."
