Ten days.
That was how long it took to go from one hundred and two across the board to the edge of everything E-rank could hold.
Ten days of creation cycles that started before sunrise and ended when his Mana ran dry. Ten days of dungeon runs — D-rank gate, every morning, the Fracture Sovereigns becoming less of a fight and more of a resource collection as his stats climbed past the range where they posed genuine resistance. Ten days of meditation sessions with the Sovereign Foundation Essence running, his dantian compressing what it held into something that the System had stopped describing in standard terms three days ago.
He didn't count the days while they were happening. He was too busy moving.
But looking back from where he now sat — cross-legged in the back room, the morning quiet around him, the panel open — ten days was what it had been.

He looked at the MAN line for a long moment.
One hundred and ninety-three.
Three weeks ago his Mana cap had been eighteen. He'd nearly blacked out creating a basic Conductivity Enhancer. The distance between that version of himself and the one sitting in this room wasn't measurable in simple numbers — it was the difference between a candle and a furnace.
What one hundred and ninety-three Mana actually *felt* like from the inside was difficult to describe. The reservoir wasn't just large — it was *present* in a way it hadn't been at lower levels. He was aware of it constantly. A deep, steady pressure sitting behind everything he did, like a river that had forgotten what a drought was. When he created now the draw barely registered until he was working on something genuinely complex. The Rank Framework Override Pill had cost him fifty-eight Mana at a cap of eighty-nine — more than half his reserve, nearly flooring him. He'd made three of them yesterday for a fresh supply and felt approximately nothing.
The creations had changed with it.
Not just cheaper. *Different.* When the Mana reservoir reached a certain depth the Creation System began accessing things it hadn't accessed before — complexity that simply hadn't been achievable at lower caps, the way a painter with three colors and a painter with thirty colors were doing categorically different work even if they were both painting. He'd created a spatial storage artifact last week — small, only half a cubic meter of interior space — and it had taken sixty Mana and felt routine. That same creation at his original cap would have been impossible. Not difficult. Categorically impossible.
He stretched his hands out in front of him and looked at them properly.
They didn't look like his hands anymore. Not in a disturbing way — in the way that anything looks different when it has been fundamentally restructured. The density of his STR stat had been rewriting his body's baseline for ten days. His knuckles were harder than the blade he carried. When he'd accidentally put his palm through the training bag two days ago — not a strike, just a stumble during a footwork drill — the bag had torn. His hand had been fine. He'd stared at the tear for a moment and then hung a new bag.
AGI at one hundred and ninety-one meant the world had developed a slight lag. Not always — he could dial it back, let his perception run at normal speed — but when he let the stat express itself fully, other things moved slowly. The guard at the D-rank gate had dropped his registration clipboard three days ago and Kai had caught it, handed it back, and been standing in his original position before the man registered the clipboard was no longer falling. The guard hadn't said anything. His face had done something complicated.
END at one hundred and eighty-five meant the dungeon runs that had left him tired after nine minutes three weeks ago now left him approximately as tired as walking to the kitchen. He'd run four consecutive floor boss encounters in yesterday's run without a meaningful recovery break between them. His body processed sustained peak output the way a healthy person processed a brisk walk — present, engaged, but nowhere near a limit.
And the VIT — the raw life force the stat represented — he'd tested that one accidentally too. A Fracture Hound had gotten a clean hit on his forearm three days ago. D-rank beast, full strike force, the kind of impact that should have broken the bone of an E-rank Awakened.
He'd felt a sting. The skin had split slightly and sealed itself within ninety seconds.
He'd looked at it the way he'd looked at the training bag tear. Filed it. Moved on.
*This is what the stats mean,* he thought. *Not numbers on a panel. This.*
Now he looked at the panel again.
Everything was close. Everything approaching two hundred — the D-rank ceiling for a stat system that had never been designed to accommodate an E-rank who'd dissolved his own cap. STR and END a few cycles from the top. AGI already at one hundred and ninety-one. MAN climbing but needing a few more expansion cores to reach its peak.
The cultivation base was the part he sat with longest.
*Transcendent.* The System had stopped using standard descriptors five days ago and started producing notations it apparently had to generate fresh because no existing benchmark applied. His Layer 2 dantian had been refined by ten days of Sovereign Foundation Essence — each dose making the existing energy denser, better organized, the internal structure of his cultivation base developing complexity that standard Layer 2 practitioners didn't achieve in years.
He could feel it when he breathed. The dantian wasn't a container anymore. It was something that had opinions about the Mana moving through it — that selected and organized and refined automatically, the way a master craftsman's hands knew what they were doing without the craftsman having to think about each movement.
*When this breaks through to Layer 3,* he thought, *it doesn't break through the same way a standard Layer 2 breaks through.*
At D-rank the reward was different.
He'd felt it approaching the way you felt weather changing. Not through any direct notification. Through what the System wasn't saying — the particular quality of potential that sat behind a wall when the wall was load-bearing and everything behind it was pressurized.
Two more days of creation cycles pushed MAN to one hundred and ninety-six. Then one hundred and ninety-eight.
Then — on the morning of the twelfth day — one final expansion core, the cleanest lattice he'd ever produced, absorbed and converted.
**MAN: 200/200**
He looked at the full panel.
**STR: 198 | AGI: 199 | END: 196 | MAN: 200/200 | VIT: 197 | INT: 189 | PER: 198 | LUK: 9**
**[Assignable Points: 0]**
**[All stats at D-rank peak parameters]**
**[Dantian Accumulation: 100% | Foundation Quality: Transcendent]**
**[Simultaneous Breakthrough Condition Available: Talent Rank + Cultivation Realm]**
**[System Note: Conditions exceed all recorded pre-breakthrough benchmarks. Breakthrough outcome cannot be projected from existing data.]**
That last line.
*Cannot be projected from existing data.*
He sat with that for a moment. The System — which had catalogued everything since the moment it synchronized with him, which had provided clean structural notation for every creation and every stat change and every cultivation milestone — was telling him it didn't know what was about to happen.
Because nothing like this had happened before.
He wasn't a peak E-rank breaking through to D-rank. He was an E-rank who had shattered his own ceiling and pushed his stats to D-rank maximums while still classified E-rank, on top of a cultivation foundation the System had run out of comparison data for, with a Talent ability that had been evolved once already and was sitting at E-rank potential waiting to be evolved again the moment D-rank tier creation became available to him.
He was going to break through as something the world's power framework had no notation for.
