“Shit, shit, shit! How? What are the fucking odds? Maybe she’s a friend of Femicom?” Owen thought that maybe her catchphrase was more well known than he originally thought. In all of his taunting of giddy gooey groove, he had never once thought to look up the phrase. It was possible that it had been in some other media he hadn’t consumed, and it was more well known than he thought. Rushing back to his side of the room, Owen snatched up his phone from where it had slipped from his hands during the night and landed on the floor beneath his bed. With a quick Google search, it was clear that giddy gooey groove was a Femicom original. The only results that came up depicted some kind of off-brand Floam from the early 2000’s, and even that wasn’t a one to one match. “You’ll be giddy with the goo of GOOey!” Read the unappealing advertisement with a tacky early 2000’s website format. It would be more effective as analog horror than a functional website at this point.

To say that Owen was overwhelmed by the realization that he was now roommates with the very Nintendo Femicom that he’d been talking to online for the past month was an understatement. He was pacing around the dorm room with such fervor that he threatened to dig a permanent pattern into the carpeted floor. The first thing that came to mind for Owen was ghosting Femicom altogether. If he broke off the online friendship, then he wouldn’t have to worry about Aoife finding out who he was. But if he did that, he’d lose the friend that he relished playing with each night. He knew Femicom far more than he knew Aoife. Or did he? If they were the same person, then theoretically that made Owen and Aoife friends already, or at least inevitable friends if their chemistry translates into the real world from the game.

But Owen thought that no amount of chemistry would excuse finding out that the pink punk girl in the game is actually a lame, depressed, anti-social college guy. Trust was a fundamental part of every relationship, platonic or not. Which meant he felt he was either due for a quick confession upon Aoife coming back, or he needed to change his name, burn off his fingerprints in a gas station bathroom, and get onto a flight to Tibet to avoid the embarrassment of this situation.Full novel: Gung Ho Girl — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

To Owen’s surprise, he must have spent far too much time worrying about the sudden realization of his doom. A knock at the door made him tentatively answer with the most strained of smiles. He did his absolute best to avoid looking like he had just run around his room freaking out like a bee had gotten stuck inside of his sweatpants.

“I forgot I don’t have a key. They said you had the extra?”

‘Act normal’, Owen thought. If he could behave like he had before making the connection of her identity, then things would be completely fine.

“Yes! Key! I’ve got all the extras you could ever want!” Owen mentally face palmed at his overcompensated answer. The idea of attempting to act “normal” seemed to completely confound him. Like how when you become aware of your own breathing and suddenly can’t do it without consciously thinking of it. Apologies for how you are now aware of your breathing, by the way.

“...just one key is fine. Do you have multiple copies?” Aoife raised a brow at the idea that Owen might have been duplicating multiple keys.

“Uh- no. I was banking on the fact you’d only want the one.” Owen tilted his head to the side before moving towards his bedside table to search the desk for the spare key. It had sat unused for two months now at the bottom of a drawer.

“So what games?” Aoife asked, standing in the center of the dorm room.

“Hm?”

“What games do you play? You mentioned shooters were your thing.”

Owen continued digging through the drawer as he thought of an appropriate response. If he were to say that he played ULTRA MEGA DEATH KILLER, she’d pretty quickly see the username and connect the dots. He couldn’t lie about an alternate account either, because the new profile would show there was no progress on the account and give away the lie. He would just have to lie about some of the older games that he played in hopes that would get him past her question without setting off any alarm bells.

“I move around games a lot. I’ve played a little bit of everything. The Danger Team has taken up most of my time recently.” The last time Owen had even booted up that game was the week before UMDK had launched. But with his obsession with UMDK, it was the next most recent game he’d played, and the best alternative to list.

“Oh shit, you still play The Danger Team? I thought they stopped updating that a year ago.”

“Yeah, they stopped their seasonal content model so it’s just bug fixes now.”

“Most people moved over to ULTRA MEGA DEATH KILLER. I heard the servers are pretty low density right now.”

Owen wanted to launch into a rant about why UMDK stole the playerbase of The Danger Team and how it improved on the existing formula in every way, but his lies prevented him from being able to speak his mind on the subject.

“I was meaning to try it. Just never got around to it.” Owen shrugged, hoping that it would convey a level of uninterest that would strengthen his story. Aoife, on the other hand, looked like an oyster had just cracked open before her to reveal the most beautiful pearl. She let out an excited gasp, which was by far the most animated that she had been in the entire time that Owen had been around her. It was almost like a switch had been flipped between the interested and reserved Aoife into the starry-eyed giddiness of gamer Aoife. It felt more like he was in the presence of Femicom at that moment, and although it was strange to see how different she acted when the discussion focused on her favorite game, Owen couldn’t blame her at all. If someone had talked to Owen irl and compared that to the persona of Witchofthew3st they would seem like two entirely different people. In a sense, they were, Witchofthew3st was an unconstrained distillation of what Owen wished he was in real life. Charismatic, that is. He didn’t need to look like a pink punk girl if he was likeable enough to have friends. At least, that was what he told himself.

“Oh my god then set it to download! It’ll be installed by the time we’re done with classes and I can show you the ropes!”

With a wide grin, Aoife moved over to Owen’s side of the room. The two halves of the room were connected by a large wooden conjoined desk that was essentially two capital L’s connected back to back with the longer side of the L protruding from the center of the wall and a third of the way across the room. They were standard among all of the dorm rooms at the college, and were designed with a center wooden wall in the desk to allow privacy between the two sides of the room. Though most people chose to decorate their side of the desk-wall with stickers and little prints. In the case of Owen, he had small stickers of different characters from UMDK plastered across the wooden desk-wall that sat behind his monitor.

Realizing the incriminating evidence, Owen sprung forwards to place himself between Aoife and his side of the desk. He had managed to scrounge up the extra key in the drawer just before Aoife started to move.

“I GOT IT!” He pushed the spare key towards Aoife and leaned awkwardly along the partition of the desk. “The key. Uh, the download too. I downloaded the game a few days ago, I just didn’t get around to playing it.” The woman seemed initially startled at Owen’s movements, but eventually plucked the key from his outstretched hand and smiled.

“Oh. Okay! Then it’s settled! I’m gonna put your ass through the ringer later and show you the ropes! Oh! I’ll try to see if one of my friends wants to join, if she’s not busy with comp games tonight.”

Owen let out a nervous laugh. He couldn’t know for certain, but he had a pretty good feeling that the “friend” she mentioned was him. He’d have to find a way to give Witchofthew3st an excuse to not be online tonight. It wasn’t often that he didn’t hop online. In fact, in the month the two had been playing together, they had played together nearly every single night, only missing one or two days when one of them had a project they put off to finish.

“Oh, yeah. We’ll see if she can join.” Owen felt it strange to be referring to himself as “she” with his very own words, but for some reason it seemed like it was more than just strange. Comforting, perhaps? Owen thought it was due to being referred to primarily as Femicom’s friend that made him so happy. Affirmations like that were bound to make someone smile, right?

“Well, I gotta get goin’ Owen. Ooo, that’s kind of fun to say! Goin’ Owen, goin’ owen. I’ll find a way to use that in something.”

“Not to crush your discovery but I’ve heard that quite a few times throughout my life.”

“Well I’m sure the others didn’t say it with as much panache as me, so I win.”

“You… win? When did it become a competition?”

“I don’t know. But it is now and I win.” She smiled, and suddenly Owen felt like he had a visual for what Femicom must have looked like every single time that the two of them had engaged in jestering hijinks over the text chat. It was somewhat gratifying to realize that she was every bit as sarcastic and playful as he imagined while reading the words that she typed. Her smile lit up her face like a monitor at 3:00am in a dark room, a glowing kind of mirth that reminded Owen of exactly why he dreaded the thought of losing Femicom as a friend.

“Good luck with your classes, Aoife.”

“Thanks, Owen.”

Aoife was out for her first class, which unfortunately seemed to be at the exact same as his own first class of the day. Noon. With how much he needed to change about the decoration of his side of the dorm room, Owen emailed the professor for his first class to tell him that he wasn’t feeling great this morning. It wasn’t a particularly good excuse, but it would get him out of the class with only minor penalties. The class was an hour and a half long, which gave him plenty of time to get done what he needed to accomplish if he could focus. If, was the problem. The stress of needing to consider every detail of his own room as a possible indicator of his online identity was overwhelming.

“Deep breaths, Owen. Like Mom taught you.”

Owen had always had issues remaining on task when met with the crunch of last minute work, or tasks with a short time limit. His Mom had done her best to help him by teaching him a relatively simple concept. Whatever was too overwhelming to consider at once, would be broken down into manageable parts.

First on the list: Get rid of the stickers!

Owen sat down at his desk, sliding away his monitor to the side of his desk to allow him to reach the full array of stickers that had been plastered onto the thin wooden partition between the two sides of the desk. They had come as part of the founder’s edition of UMDK. The game itself was free, but for those that had pitched into the game during its early access phase, they were sent a sort of collectors edition with a figurine and a sticker pack. It wasn’t much, but Owen hadn’t been expecting the figure or stickers when he joined the early access, so it was a pleasant surprise. It made him sad to have to remove all of the different stickers, but realistically, the designs were probably sold somewhere online for only a couple of dollars. He could always buy them again at a later date, as long as it became reasonable for him to do so around Aoife. Maybe she would believe it if they played enough of the game together, Owen thought.

Second on the list: Excuse for Witchofthew3st!

Owen thought it was much more believable of an excuse if he were to send a message to Femicom’s account earlier in the day saying that tonight he had to finish a school project and wouldn’t be able to hop on. If he preempted the offer to join, it would probably seem a lot more authentic. Logging onto his standard account, Owen began drafting a message towards Nintendo Femicom. ULTRA MEGA DEATH KILLER operated on its own 3rd party launcher, which allowed people to message each other through the launcher itself without having to have the game open.

[Witchofthew3st: Yo Femi, I’m not gonna be on tonight. I got a huge project that I put off and it’s due tomorrow for class. Don’t rank up without me! I wanna rub it in your face when I place higher than u!]

Before Owen hit send, he scrolled up to look at the last message that Femicom had sent.

[Nintendo Femicom: anyway, ttyl. Goodnight cutie]

“You wouldn’t say it if you knew, Aoife.” He suddenly felt very strange about sharing a room with someone that might have been crushing on him online without them knowing. Owen didn’t want to be some kind of creep on the internet, but creeping was the last thing on his mind, he was just incredibly happy to have a friend like Femicom. With a drawn out sigh, Owen slapped his index across the enter key and leaned back in his chair.

[Message Sent]

Third on the list: Go to class you bum!

Owen began his morning routine later than usual, but in the same exact motions as always. Owen’s dorm, Freidrich Hall, was by far the oldest of the dorms in the college. When he started his education, it was the only dorm that was open, and it felt like far more effort to move out of the dorm than it was worth. It might not have been as updated as the other dorms, but because of its older construction, the walls were made thick like a prison in the classic method of 19th century buildings that were only lightly updated since then. It might have been dragging behind in the times like a drooping car bumper, but it was perfect for a guy who stayed up until 4:00am gaming. He would have been expelled from noise complaints if he was living in any of the other dorms, clicking, typing, and gaming away while others tried to sleep.

The biggest downside of Freidrich Hall was that the dorm rooms were bigger as a trade off of not having bathrooms in each of the rooms. Instead, there were communal bathrooms for men and women at the center of each of the floors of the dorm. Freidrich Hall was, in many ways, a demonstration of how Evrett University used to be. It was the historic building that had yet to be retired or renovated in order to preserve the “legacy” of Evrett back when it was just an old boarding school in the 19th century. As such, Freidrich Hall operated under older, more outdated rules that the unlucky students who couldn’t get into any other dorms needed to abide by. The only rule that had been thrown out the window for the sake of the university, was cohabitation between genders. It was a recent change, within the past five years, and it was done so because of the trouble Evrett was having filling the rooms of Freidrich Hall once all the other dorms had been filled. It was the very definition of leftovers, as far as the college students were concerned, and for the college itself, filling each and every room meant more income. What was a university if not a business first, and a place of education second.

With his usual shower bag in hand, he stumbled down the hallway into the bathroom. Not many had such a late start to their day, which blissfully left him undisturbed by students as most were already in classes for the day. The showers themselves were thankfully secluded, Owen had never been one to welcome the observation of his naked, or even half-naked body. He had always opted out of swimming for that very same reason. Owen had always found it odd that others weren’t self conscious about their own bodies. He took a warm shower without interruption and quickly waddled back into his room with his towel wrapped around his body and the loose hoodie thrown over top to hide his chest.

That was essentially the extent of his morning routine. In the comfort of his own dorm room, Owen reached into his drawers and blindly pulled out some kind of variation of pants and a long sleeve shirt that he only paid attention to as he pulled it over his body and glanced in the mirror that sat against one of the walls. Sure enough, the face of Owen stared back at him.

* * * * *

Classes were as dull as ever. The only thing that set them apart from every other day was the tense, ever marching thought that when classes ceased for the day, he would need to play UMDK with Aoife. “Need” made it sound like he was being forced, which for all intents he was not. But realistically, it was going to be a “need” if he wanted to be able to play his favorite game for the rest of the semester without drawing the attention of the woman hidden on the other side of the partition.

When Owen made the walk up the thin stairs of his dorm, yet another indication of the era in which the hall was made, he prepared himself for the play he was set to perform. All he had to do was pretend to be a noob on his favorite game. Simple. With rehearsed movements that were practically etched into his muscle memory, he slipped the key into the knob and opened the door.

“Changing!!!”

Owen heard a fumble, a crash, and a yelp in quick succession. Upon hearing his roommates words, he quickly whirled around to face the dormitory door that he had just shut, slamming his face into the wood in his desperation to look away. Privacy was one of Owen’s most treasured things, and the preservation of other’s privacy was just as important in his mind. Was it worth slamming his face into his dormitory door? Sure, but it didn’t hurt any less.

“Fuck!”

“What?”

“Door!”

“What about it?”

“Hurts!”

Moments passed of quiet shuffling. Aoife finished pulling a hoodie over her head while Owen, still pressed up against the door like a child enacting the rule of “if I can’t see them then they can’t see me”, held his nose with both hands. A gentle tap on his shoulder caused him to flinch and turn once more to face away from Aoife.

“I’m dressed, dork. I wouldn’t be over here if I wasn’t. Show me your nose.” She said, waiting patiently for Owen to turn to face her. He did so, although with his eyes still closed, something which made Aoife snort. As if facing the door was not enough, he had been squeezing his eyes shut like he was in a horror movie. When he opened them, he was surprised to see Aoife already leaning in towards his face to examine the still throbbing appendage. The woman used her index finger to delicately prod at his nose. “That hurt?”

“Not any more than before, no.” He replied, much more focused on the fact that Aoife was only a few inches from his face. He thought that the redness on his cheeks could easily be written off by his face-to-door exploration moments prior. In reality, it was brought on by the significant lack of close contact with anyone recently. At the risk of sounding like a terminally online incel, Owen thought this was probably the closest he had gotten to a woman in years. Not counting his recent dream about Nintendo Femicom, which despite how touched starved Owen was, he would not count as valid.

“Not broken then, you’re good.”

“Are you a med student?”

“Just a frequent flier on Broken Nose Airlines. Their rewards program is snot worth it by the way.”

The silence that followed caused Aoife to let out an awkward chuff as she stood in wait. The reason that Owen hadn’t laughed was not as she expected. He found the joke itself to be charming, but it was like he was sitting in the lobby waiting for their next comp match, it felt familiar in a way that only reminded him this woman was not a complete stranger. They’d met only this morning in person, but she was the same snarky girl that he’d been pub stomping with for a month.

“Sheesh, tough crowd.”

“No, it was a good joke! I-I just… how come you’ve broken your nose so many times?” Owen asked the question against his better judgement. Curiosity seemed to utterly trump his politeness. But repeat nose breakage implies something beyond a childhood mistake. Was she an athlete perhaps? Owen found it somewhat hard to believe based on what he knew of Femicom, but with the clothing Aoife had worn thus far, he had no way of knowing if she had the body of an athlete. Though martial arts or sports was certainly a preferable answer to the one that Owen thought of next, that it could be the result of some intense bullying.

“Occupational hazard. Gorilla wrangling is a tough job.”

“Gorilla wrangling? That’s not even a job!”

“Are you an expert on gorillas?”

“You sure as hell aren’t!”

Aoife rolled her eyes and took a few steps back from Owen. The wry smile across face never once slipped as she did so. Owen felt like he could finally return to breathing at a normal pace now that Aoife wasn’t firmly inside of his personal bubble performing her amateur medical examination. “You don’t have to tell me, I was just curious, that’s all.” Owen huffed. Aoife shrugged as she turned away from Owen, but he could clearly see the melancholic expression across her face as she did so. “Another time, Owen. We’ve got a newbie to train.” She waddled to her desk with her hands tucked deep into the central pocket of her hoodie. All she wore now that she was back from classes was an oversized hoodie with gym shorts underneath. A look which made Owen still feel like he was intruding, but with a childhood surrounded by other brothers, he thought perhaps this was just a normal around the house outfit that girls wore. It’s not like he’d know, he’d never lived with another woman.

“Knock next time, by the way. No one ever told you it’s rude to walk in on a girl while she’s changing?” Owen’s face flushed as he moved to sit down at his own desk. It was a clear rule, but one that he had no intentions of breaking when he did so. “I didn’t know!” Owen exclaimed as he pulled up the launcher for ULTRA MEGA DEATH KILLER. There was a rich vein of embarrassment throbbing through him as he hunched into his chair.

“I’m just messing with you, Owen. But seriously do knock next time. Privacy is important to me.” Aoife was understandably worried about her own privacy, which made perfect sense to Owen even without any knowledge of how she had been moved between dorms in the past. “Yeah, snot gonna happen again.” The callback to her prior pun seemed to do exactly what he hoped, bringing a brief giggle across the wooden partition of their conjoined desk. Owen smiled. While he couldn’t see her expression from where they sat, she seemed to get a kick out of his humor, which reinforced his initial idea that as long as he acted like himself, the two of them would get along just as easily as Witchofthew3st and Nintendo Femicom got along.

Speaking of the relationship between the two, Owen saw a message in his inbox as he pulled up the launcher. He was still logged in on his account, having yet to switch to the brand new account that he’d have to make.

[Nintendo Femicom: aww, bummer. I was hoping to have my fav girl help me out with training a newbie today. Good luck with your project tho, we can always give the lobbies a taste of feminine rage tomorrow, right?]

It was sent thirty minutes ago, which meant it was likely sent by Aoife once she had gotten back from classes. The emotions that stirred within Owen were hard to swallow. “Fav girl”? On the one hand, it brought unconscionable amounts of joy to flood his brain at the idea that she thought of him so highly. On the other, it felt like he was being dragged deeper into a facade that only benefited himself. Was it okay to embellish this relationship that was predicated on such flimsy ground? Owen wasn’t sure, but he was sure that for however long it lasted, it felt good to be Femicom’s favorite girl.

[Witchofthew3st: wouldn’t miss it for the world, femi. Good luck training him]

Owen pulled up a new browser tab and navigated to the website for UMDK. Making a new account felt odd, but it was logistically easy to circumnavigate. He already had multiple emails that he would use in order to deal with spam and sketchy sign ups for wi-fi in cafes. When it came time for the username, Owen was upset that he couldn’t use the name he always defaulted to for anything online. This was just a trash account he’d use to play with Aoife, so it could have a boring name.

[The username “Owen” has already been taken]

[Nintendo Femicom: him?]

Owen’s heart dropped as the notification for the message cropped up on the side of his monitor. He quickly scrolled up to her previous message, and sure enough, she had never mentioned the new player’s pronouns. His fingers fidgeted over the keys as he struggled to come up with a response. He thought that he could surely brush it off as some mistaken assumption. Before he could draft a message, Femicom had already sent another message in their chat.

[Nintendo Femicom: Are you so certain I’m not training another girl to take your spot as my favorite?]

[Witchofthew3st: no shot. You love me too much to replace me]

[Nintendo Femicom: caught me red handed witch I could never replace my one and only]

What Owen had sent in sardonic reverie had seemingly immediately come back to bite him. At this point, he was even more convinced that Aoife was hitting on him, or Witchofthew3st rather, which made his stomach feel like it was doing aerobic exercises within his body. It felt downright euphoric to Owen when Femicom flirted with him, a kind of affection that no one had shown to him for long enough he would never admit it out of embarrassment. But the frantic jittering of joy that danced through his body was addled by a growing guilt. This was wrong. She thought that she was hitting on a girl online, not that she was flirting with a lonely shut-in of a man that sat on the other side of a wooden partition no more than five feet away from her. Owen felt it cruel to string along her expectations when in all likelihood she would display none of the same affections if she truly knew who he was.

Owen’s eyes remained latched to the glowing text on his monitor. “One and only”, she had said. That was nice. People were allowed to feel nice. Owen thought another day of feeling nice couldn’t hurt. He’d soak it in today, and break her heart tomorrow. 24 more hours of being her favorite would give him some pleasant memories to hold onto long after she stops being his friend.

[Witchofthew3st: gotta work on my project now byeeee <3]

“A username cannot be that hard to think of, dude. I don’t wanna be staring at the main menu all night.” Aoife’s voice lilted over the top of the desk and sent Owen ardently clicking back onto his browser page to continue the new account sign up process. The last attempted username, “Owen”, had not worked. Owen felt utterly stupid as he looked at the screen. On what world would the basic username of “Owen” not already be taken.

[The username “Owen1286” has already been taken]

“What? Who the fuck-” Owen muttered as he looked at his screen in confusion. With the wide player base of UMDK, I suppose it wasn’t entirely impossible someone had claimed such a specific username. “Sorry, Aoife, I’m trying to find a username that isn’t already in use.”

[The username “heyimowen” has already been taken]

[The username “heyimseriouslyowen” has already been taken]

[The username “helloiamtherealowen” has already been taken]

“Are you fucking kidding me?! How many guys with the name Owen play this game?” Owen resisted the urge to slap his hands down on his desk, the frustration of each failed attempt building the pressure inside him. “It’s just a game”, he mentally chided himself as he once more deleted the attempted username.

“I’ve never seen someone lose to the new account screen before. You’re a goddamn pioneer, Owen.” Owen could hear just how much of a kick she was getting from his frustration. He couldn’t deny that the quiet laughter from her side of the room was adorable, but it didn’t make him feel any less humiliated for getting stuck making a username. “Just type something silly like the old generated Xbox Live usernames. PertinentHorse or something like that.” Owen could tell by the way her voice had raised that she was grinning as she spoke. As such, he responded in the only way he had learned how to when someone poked fun at him. Lean into it with full force.

[Congrats “PertinentHorse”! Verify your email address and join the fight!]

“...I am so fucking stupid” Owen grumbled under his breath as he pulled up his email inbox and verified his account. Without further ado, he moved back to the game launcher to sign out of Witchofthew3st and into PertinentHorse. Before he clicked the sign out button, a final message from Femicom popped up in their direct messages.

[Nintendo Femicom: Good luck, girl! Talk to you later <3]

A tender smile crept across his lips as he switched accounts and launched the game. “I’m in, Aoife. No sign up screen is gonna hold me back.” Owen said as he pulled up the friends tab in the game to start typing in Aoife’s username. The realization that it would make no sense to send a request to a username he shouldn’t have any knowledge of stopped him.

“Congrats, Owen. You really showed that website who’s boss, huh?” Her words dripped in sarcasm as she spoke, but a genuine smile still found its way onto her face as she spoke. “What’s your username by the way, I’ll send a friend request over.” She said, already on the friend tab prepared to type in the username.

“PertinentHorse, capital P, capital H, no spaces.”

“Ha ha.” Aoife droned in a monotone voice before letting out a small breathy laugh and continuing. “Seriously though, lemme send a friend request.”

“I am serious.”

Five seconds of complete silence seemed to suggest to Aoife that Owen was, in fact, serious.

“...holy shit did you actually use that?”

Owen laughed at her befuddled reaction and waited for her to send over the invite. “You said it. You have no one to blame but yourself, Aoife.” As if he had won a high contest competitive match, he leaned back in his chair with immense satisfaction. Aoife rolled her eyes and typed in the username that was only ever supposed to be a prodding jest rather than his now-permanent username. UMDK didn’t allow users to change their name for the first three months after they were activated, something which ensured she’d be teaching “PertinentHorse” the basics of the game. The friend request was sent over, and Owen smiled at the familiar username of Nintendo Femicom showing up on his screen.

“Okay, Mr. Horse, make your guy so that we can hop into a match.”

Owen looked at the character creator that sat before him. “Make your guy”, Aoife had said. He supposed that it made some semblance of sense for a guy to make a male character when given the choice. It’s not like Owen ever had, when given the choice, but that was just due to extenuating circumstances. Most games forced you to play a male character, so when a game with a character creator came along, it only made sense for Owen to try something new. He thought plenty of people must have had the same thought process as him. When the rest of the market was oversaturated with gruff military operatives and buff impractically large sword wielding men, anyone would like to switch it up by making a fierce gun toting woman.

Owen looked at the very first screen of the character creation, the gender selection, and sighed. Aoife knew Owen in real life. Despite what he may have wanted to make, it would be weird to select anything other than a male character when she could see clear as day that he was a guy.

With an indeterminable amount of sluggish hesitation, he moved the cursor to the left side of the screen and clicked.

[Male body type selected]
