“You lost.”
Aurelian looked at Joyce, who no longer had the strength to continue, and spoke calmly.
Outside the barrier, Fleur and Catherine both let out relieved breaths.
“Well, well.
House Lancelot actually lost.”
“And in that way, no less.
They have been utterly humiliated.”
“With an heir like that, House Pendragon has nothing to worry about for the next few decades.”
The other family heads began discussing the outcome after seeing Aurelian defeat Joyce so easily.
Hall had just reached his son and helped him up.
Hearing those words made his already dark expression even worse.
“Hall, do you have anything else to say?”
Unlike Hall, Miles was in an excellent mood.
He could barely contain his smile.
“Hmph.”
“Mr.
Joyce Lancelot,” Aurelian said as he followed Miles over, “I hope you remember this lesson.
Not everyone is someone you may insult.
Mr.
Lancelot, I also hope you keep your family in hand.
Next time, you may not be this lucky.”
“Are you threatening me?”
Hall narrowed his eyes and looked at Aurelian with undisguised killing intent.
“Hall, this is House Pendragon’s territory,” Miles said, stepping in front of Aurelian at once.
“If you would like to taste the flyswatter as well, I can satisfy you.”
Miles had naturally seen the murderous look Hall directed at his son.
He stared back with equal threat.
“Hmph.”
Hall finally regained enough reason to understand that House Lancelot had lost tonight no matter what.
With a cold sound, he took Joyce and left.
“My apologies, everyone.
I am sorry you had to witness that.
Please, let us return to the banquet.”
Once Hall and Joyce had gone, Miles turned to the other guests with an apology, and the dinner resumed.
“Aurelian, are you hurt?”
After the guests dispersed, Fleur hurried to Aurelian’s side and asked about his condition.
Catherine stood behind him with the same concern on her face.
“I am fine.
I am sorry for worrying you.”
“You little brat.
You hid that rather well, even from us.”
Elaine lowered her voice and spoke fiercely as soon as she reached him, but the curve of her mouth betrayed how happy she was.
Aurelian knew she meant his ability to use magic.
“You never asked.
How is that my fault?”
He spread his hands and looked entirely too smug.
He was not worried that Elaine would retaliate right now.
The banquet was still underway, and the guests had not yet left.
“You little scoundrel.
Just wait.”
Elaine gritted her teeth at his fearless expression.
Aurelian answered her with a provoking smile.
“Enough, Elaine.
You are a grown woman.
Are you really going to argue with a child?”
Madame Delacour did not know whether to laugh or sigh as she pulled Elaine aside.
“Aurelian, well done.”
Miles was far more direct.
He praised his son without hesitation.
Seeing Hall, his rival of so many years, suffer a defeat at his son’s hands had nearly made him grin until his jaw hurt.
“However, Aurelian,” Mr.
Delacour said solemnly, “you should understand that the difference between you and Joyce Lancelot was not as wide as the duel made it appear.
You defeated him so easily because he underestimated you.
He did not expect your body or your magic to be that strong.”
“And the Lancelots are not generous people.
They repay grudges.
I saw Hall’s killing intent toward you just now.
You must be careful from now on.”
Aurelian nodded seriously.
Anyone could have seen Hall’s murderous look.
“Do not worry,” Miles said.
“Aurelian is the heir of House Pendragon.
Unless House Lancelot wants a war to the death with us, they will not touch him lightly.”
Miles was not especially concerned.
House Pendragon was no soft target.
If the family’s heir could be killed so easily by House Lancelot, House Pendragon would have vanished from history long ago.
“Aurelian, you just finished fighting Joyce Lancelot.
Take Fleur and go rest.
We will handle the guests.”
After that, Miles and Mr.
Delacour returned to the banquet hall, while Aurelian and Fleur left under Catherine’s guidance.
“Aurelian, thank you.” Visit g.com for the full chapter.
The Delacours were not planning to return to France immediately, so Elaine had already prepared rooms for them.
When Fleur reached the door of her room, she suddenly thanked Aurelian in a soft voice.
“It was nothing.
I only did what I should.
Get some rest.”
Aurelian paused, waved it off, and continued toward his own room with Catherine.
Fleur stood where she was, staring at his disappearing back.
No one knew what she was thinking.
Only after a long while did she come back to herself.
“It seems this fiance of mine is not bad at all.”
She murmured the words, laughed softly, and went into her room.
“Master Aurelian, it seems you have accepted the engagement.”
On the other side, as they walked back, Catherine asked with a little jealousy hidden in her voice.
“Oh?
Do I smell something sour?
Is our Catherine jealous?”
Aurelian caught the jealousy at once and teased her with a smile.
“Master Aurelian!”
Catherine’s face turned scarlet, and Aurelian could almost imagine steam rising from the top of her head.
“Ha!”
Seeing her reaction, he laughed twice, then began to explain.
“Honestly, I do not know.
Our first conversation was not pleasant.
But later I discovered that she is not a bad person.
Because of her Veela blood, the people around her treated her like something strange, and no one was willing to be her friend.
That is why she seems so proud.”
Aurelian told Catherine what had happened during his conversation with Fleur.
After hearing it, Catherine’s expression softened with sympathy.
“As for what happened at the banquet, so many people were watching.
I could not pretend I had not seen it, and I would not have wanted to.
For now, at least, she is my fiancee.
If I had stayed silent, it would have damaged House Pendragon’s name and badly affected our relationship with House Delacour.”
“As for whether I have accepted her as my fiancee, I do not know yet.
No one dislikes a pretty girl.
And even if I accept her, whether she accepts me is another matter.”
Aurelian shrugged as they stopped outside his room.
“Enough thinking for tonight.
Time to rest.”
He stepped inside and closed the door.
“Master Aurelian, you really can be dense.”
Catherine looked at the closed door, muttered a complaint under her breath, and entered the room beside his.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
