is actually just chapter 13, but I labeled it like the British superstition with buildings and addresses.
“And where have you been off to young man?” Leon heard the moment that Birdperson set his feet back onto the astronomy towers landing.
The voice belonged to Professor Sinistra.
Curfew had technically ended already.
But it was also only a few minutes past.
“Birdperson kidnapped me?” Leon tried weakly.
Professor Sinistra looked at the phoenix who landed beside Leon and gave her an innocent stare.
Ruffling his feathers with a pouty look.
“Are you always up this early?” She asked, gesturing to the clock tower whose hands indicated it was only five minutes after curfew ended.
Leon nodded, “I’m usually up early Professor.
I tend to go to bed early to.”
“I’ve got my eyes on you Mr.
McKinnon-Prewett.” Sinistra said before making a shooing motion, “Off you go.
Unless you would like to talk about Astronomy of course.”
Leon smiled, “I would love to… but maybe not this morning?
I have something that I need to do.”
She raised an eyebrow at that, “I’m sure you do.”
Leon sighed as descended the tower.
He was extraordinarily lucky that Professor Sinistra didn’t make a big deal about Birdperson flying him into the tower.
Leon reached over and grabbed hold of Birdperson, “Teleport us to my dorm room.”
He really didn’t want to waste time.
He’d just completed a successful hunt.
He was dying to check out his reward.
Leon was practically giddy as he slipped through the entry into the Hufflepuff common room and sat down in an armchair in a secluded corner.
His mind transferring into Coldharbour with ease as he pulled up the Shop window and scrolled over to the Tasks section.
[Task: Perform a worthy Hunt.
Requirements met: Select your prey, track your prey, kill your prey and claim your trophy.
Reward: The Hunting Grounds.
Collect Reward?
Y/N]
Leon paused as he looked at the requirements that he had fulfilled.
Sitting on his throne in Coldharbour he suddenly started laughing.
There was nothing else he could do but laugh.
Laugh at how stupid he had been.
He had vastly overcomplicated the task.
He could have gone rabbit hunting, fox hunting, or even just shot a stag.
A worthy hunt didn’t mean hunting some apex predator.
It meant demonstrating the basic competencies of a Hunter.
After a few moments of self-reflection Leon accepted the reward.
New strength flooded into him as The Hunting Grounds faded into his awareness.
His awareness spreading across a new dimension that was now a part of him.
It was vast.
Vast beyond measure.
The mines of Coldharbour would go on forever no matter how deeply one mined.
There would always be more.
The Hunting Grounds were an infinite plane.
Mountains, rivers, lakes, oceans, valleys, deserts, planes, weather systems and more spread across infinity.
Leon stood up and transferred his Avatar into the new plane that he called his own.
As he had suspected, The Hunting Grounds lacked any life.
No forests, no grass, no moss or mushrooms, no algae in the waters.
But it wasn’t barren.
Plains of perfectly fertile, loamy soil stretched into the distance.
Ideal soil and temperatures for any plant life he could think of.
It was a blank slate, a field ready for planting.
With all of the research that he had done trying to produce a viable ecosystem in Coldharbour Leon found himself surprisingly prepared for exactly the tasks ahead of him.
And with the Vivarium?
He already had a convenient ecosystem ready for transplantation.
Leon wasted no time.
He pulled the Vivarium into the Hunting Grounds beside him.
Morty-1 and 2 were both inside and observing the security systems and didn’t even notice the transfer.
Leon also grabbed all of the Nuckelavee Dremora and pulled them to his side as well.
The Goblins loved Coldharbour, so he left them be.
They were busy mining and figuring out how to work the infernal forges.
Leon explained the situation to the Nuckelavee Dremora after they calmed down from the sudden shift of their environment.
Which had them all trotting in place.
They were excited by what The Hunting Grounds represented.
An infinite wilderness to help grow and shepherd.
Endless forests to coax into existence.
Endless grassy plains to sow.
It was essentially as close to paradise for them as they could get.
Though at the moment it was bare without a single speck of green to be seen.
Reaching his awareness into the Vivarium, Leon grabbed half-acre plots out of the various biomes within.
Pulling up all the surrounding dirt and soil as well, leaving big cube shaped craters in grasslands, forests, riverbeds, and lakes.
He placed these samples taken from the Vivarium around the Hunting Grounds.
Centered around where he currently stood.
He didn’t take a lot.
But enough that he was confident that the area he was in would start the process of growing.
It would take decades for the plant life and smaller creatures that got transported out to spread over a large enough area to really consider The Hunting Grounds habitable.
“My Lord…” one of the Nuckelavee said, “If you can pull sections of our old world into this one.
Can you not pull the whole world into this one?”
Leon paused at that.
A shift that massive was definitely possible… If he uprooted the entire island in the Vivarium and placed it inside the Hunting Grounds he would just need to be careful spending his weekends ensuring that the Acromantula and other invasive apex predators didn’t cause mass extinctions without the constant influence of the Vivarium’s enchantments keeping them in check.
“I can, however, the ecosystem of your old world is constantly kept in check by the magic of the Vivarium.
Without its influence, the Acromantula will spread.
The Goblins will likely rise to the surface.
And there will be a myriad of other changes in the behaviors of the creatures living there.
To be safe, I would probably need to break it apart and spread it across various areas.
But all of that will require planning.” Leon explained.
“My Lord, we will assist.
None know nature better than us.” One of the Nuckelavee said.
“If you all can come up with a solid plan of action I will be willing to listen.” Leon said with a dismissing wave of his hand.
Leon was actually curious to see what would happen if he pulled the entire Island and its surrounding waters out of the Vivarium.
How would the artifact respond?
Would it recover?
Would it recover quickly?
Could he put it back in its time bubble to speed up its recovery?
Would it repopulate plants and basic organisms or would it need seed populations?
It would be interesting to see.
Also… an empty vivarium ready for a new ecosystem might be useful for other endeavors.
Mind racing with the possibilities.
Leon focused on getting a feel for everything that had changed now that he had The Hunting Grounds.
He had gained a few instinctual abilities.
He was absolutely certain that he could now Bless or Curse people with Lycanthropy.
And not just the standard type either.
But various were-creature types.
And he could determine whether or not they had control of their transformations.
He could also take Lycanthropy away from people should he desire it.
He had also gained the ability to transform his avatars into a Werewolf Sovereign form.
He could already transform into a Vampire Sovereign form.
He never really did it or used the transformation because it was simply not all that useful.
Although he could have used his Vampire Sovereign form while hunting the Acromantula.
Honestly, it probably would have been smart… but he’d forgotten about it.
Leon’s Vampire Sovereign form looked more like a fallen angel than the Vampire Lord transformations.
It was regal and imposing, with crimson red feathered wings, and horns emerging like a crown from his brow.
The transformation left him standing fifteen feet tall with a lean muscular build.
While in that form he gained access to multiple vampire exclusive abilities as well.
The Werewolf Sovereign form was terrifying.
He transformed into a twenty-foot-tall, silvery grey, Lycanthrope.
His form rippled with immense muscles that were harder than iron.
With claws and teeth capable of rending steel.
Hide tough enough to withstand the sharpest of blades and a howl that shook the very souls of those who heard it.
These transformations were mostly useless in Leon’s daily life.
He couldn’t use them under normal circumstances in either the muggle or wizarding world.
So most of the time his ability to transform was forgotten in the background.
Perhaps in a few years once the school started touching on human transfiguration, he could use the transformations.
But for now, they were on the back burner.
Leon needed to test his new control of Lycanthropy though.
If he could affect the Lycanthropy of the Harry Potter world… he could become the man who cured it.
If not, he might be able to bless the werewolves of this world to be able to control their transformations.
Either way, Leon was going to have to experiment.
Anyway, now was the moment of truth.
He pulled up his status screen to see the changes and assess his next task.

[Task: Host a Cheese Eating Chess Tournament.
Reward: The Shivering isles]
Seeing those numbers that had just been 1 for 11 years finally increase to 2 after all this time felt like an enormous triumph.
His OP gain was pitiful though.
Even with all those grand soul conversions he’d barely made back a little over a 1000 points… The point acquisition system seemingly nerfing his gains.
Though he actually kind of understood why he wasn’t getting that much from it.
He wasn’t dominating and conquering to acquire those souls.
He was only corrupting them.
And even then, as far as the goblins were concerned, they were being pulled into heaven.
The corruption wasn’t very deep when it already aligned with what the souls wanted.
And on top of that, it seemed like white souls were simply not as valuable in the points system as Black souls were.
Even though a Grand Soul and a Black Soul were equal in terms of power and complexity.
Something about that difference in color made the Black Souls vastly more profitable for conversion.
Leon also suspected that a mortal population within his own realms would give less than acquiring mortals from Earthly realms.
Leon wasn’t about to complain though.
And now he had a new task.
This time, the task actually gave his some rules that weren’t written.
They simply popped into his head like he had always known them.
The specific rules of Cheese Eating Chess.
The game was weird.
Basically, it was normal chess, but the timer was tiny rounds of cheese.
After a move one had to start eating cheese until it was their move again.
To win, one had to have eaten the most cheese and have placed their opponent in checkmate.
There also had to be a panel of three judges, one of them had to be chicken in a tux with a mini top hat.
The other one had to be a crab with a bowler hat and a monocle.
And the third judge had to be Leon.
There was no point to the judges.
They were just there to be there.
The winner of the tournament was to be given a block of cheese, the chickens top hat, and the crabs monocle along with a two-pronged fork.
All Leon had to do was host the tournament.
That is what the task said.
And he was pretty sure that he could set it up and have it finished by next weekend.
He was also pretty sure that there didn’t even need to be real participants.
He just needed to host the tournament and be a judge that didn’t judge anything.
With all that taken care of, and his next task set to start, Leon turned his attention to the sea of souls that he now had access to.
Petty, Lesser and Common souls by the bucket.
But by far he had more of those miniscule little shards that came from insects and other little critters.
He had never figured out what to do with them.
At first he thought that he could combine them into full souls.
But now that he had an unending supply of what he was now calling Soul Dust.
He really should dedicate some time to seeing if the stuff had any use.
His collection of Greater and Grand Souls was still growing.
But Leon figured that he had best wait on the mass conversions until Morty-1 and 2 figured out their translation ritual.
That way he could automate the experience and nip the problem in the bud.
Speaking of the Translator ritual.
Morty-2 was actually the one to suggest a really great idea in the development.
One that would take a little time but wasn’t difficult.
By including samples of every known language in the ritual, they were hoping to create an effect that would be able to adapt to new languages on the fly.
Permanently removing the need for updating the ritual as time went on.
After the discussions with both Mortys, Leon reluctantly pulled himself back to his Earthly Avatar.
There was so much calling for his attention.
So many things to do.
But right now Hogwarts curriculum was the most time sensitive.
So, no matter how much he wanted to hole up in Coldharbour and run experiments, manage the establishment of a new ecosystem in The Hunting Grounds, play with soul stuff, and even delve into the history and lore of the Goblins in the Vivarium, he needed to focus on the here and now.
Assessing the things that he actually had to do at Hogwarts was pretty easy.
But it didn’t mean that it wasn’t a lot.
Coursework was fairly straightforward.
Essays were fun to write, but took time and thought, and then there was the optional essay that McGonagall had challenged Leon to write.
Which meant a lot of reading.
Then there was the fact that he needed to test out his Earthly Avatar’s physical, magical and mental capabilities… but of course, he’d forgotten to take baseline measurements.
On top of that he really needed to start dedicating some time to working out.
Which led him down another train of thought about magical supplements.
“Gah!” Leon jerked to the side as Birdperson pecked him in the ribs.
“You know.
You haven’t even done that a single time while I’m talking to people since I asked.
But you keep doing it while I’m thinking about stuff.” Leon huffed.
He didn’t order the Phoenix to stop; he was aware that he had a tendency to overthink/brood.
And this was actually something that could help him.
“Ok, I’ll just write out a to-do list.” Leon said, pulling out a fresh sheet of parchment and setting up his inkpot and quill.
He pondered for a few moments before writing down a few bullet points.
Homework/Coursework Physical Assessment Magical Assessment Memory and Memorization Tests Mental Agility Tests Develop a Physical Training Regime and Stick To It Investigate Magical Supplements Extra Credit Optional Assignment Research Arrange Cheese Eating Chess Tournament Pain Tolerance Training
Leon looked at the list.
He was certain that there was more that he should be doing.
But he was already looking at far more actual work than the list implied.
The last item on that list, the one he had crossed out… He knew that it was necessary.
He didn’t deal with pain very well.
“First up, homework.” Leon muttered to himself ignoring his own failings.
Fortunately, he had kept on top of everything to do with homework over the week.
The only thing that he needed to do was write that Broom description paper for Madam Hooch.
Leon managed to finish the paper for Madam Hooch before the Breakfast rush started.
He joined his classmates in ascending to the Great Hall for breakfast.
The girls chatted about all kinds of inane things that Leon really didn’t care about.
But he forced himself to listen well enough that he could nod or laugh at the right moments.
And so began Leon’s second week at Hogwarts.
The week flew by quite rapidly from Leon’s perspective.
The overall mood of the castle didn’t change much over the course of the week.
The Gossip Mill was still going strong about Peter Pettigrew’s grand confession.
Over the course of the week multiple reports from the Daily Prophet showed a lot happening in the outside world.
And the students, at least the older students, were talking about it nonstop.
A little over a dozen arrests of low-profile former Death Eaters.
Barty Crouch Sr.
getting raked over the coals in the public opinion courts.
Sirius Black was expeditiously removed from Azkaban and was apparently recovering quite well in St.
Mungo’s.
And Peter Pettigrew was put on public trial over the course of the week.
Leon wasn’t all that concerned about the political happenings.
He had set them in motion himself after all.
His plans for the weekend were coming together quite smoothly though.
With Gasket’s help, Leon managed to acquire a chicken and all the accoutrements it needed.
The crab had been an ordeal for the House-Elf.
But now Leon had both his fellow judges for the Cheese Eating Chess tournament.
He also had, quite surprisingly, about a dozen contestants lined up and a time slot in the Great Hall to conduct the little tournament.
One thing that Leon did not do, was show his new broom to Madam Hooch.
He simply turned in his paper to her and wrote another for the next week.
Leon wasn’t about to make it seem like he could mysteriously get an unknown broom maker to create his ominous Daedric Broom over the course of a week.
In fact, Leon wasn’t planning to show her the Broom until after Christmas Break was over.
Soon enough, Leon found himself in the Great Hall, overseeing the placement of a dozen individual tables for his Chess Tournament just after Saturday’s breakfast hours.
He had acquired his own wizards chess sets and he had set them up already.
These Wizard’s Chess boards were special.
They were special because he had imbued all of the pieces with Dremora.
Only Scamp souls for the pawns.
He used Lesser souls for the Knights, Rooks, and Bishops.
Then he used Common Souls of Atronachs to imbue the King and Queen pieces.
(A/N: I forgot about Clannfear and other intermediate level Dremora that should be between scamps and Atronachs.
I’m just gonna roll with it and adjust now instead of going back to rewrite stuff and adjust from here on out.)
Why did Leon imbue the Dremora souls?
For one, it was practice.
Wizard’s Chess sets were fairly cheap, and they had quite the sophisticated little enchantments on them.
Which made them ideal for practicing Binding Dremora souls to artifacts.
The practice was hardly necessary as the process was practically seamless when Leon did it.
The second reason was that Leon wanted the Chess sets to be a gift to the players who took part in this madness.
And the resulting pieces and boards were badass as hell.
One thing that Leon had observed about the Bound Chess sets were that they would actually play all by themselves.
If the player was indecisive, the pieces would move on their own.
They attempted to win, so it wasn’t like they were deliberately sabotaging the players.
And in the three days that he had left the sets alone in the palace in Coldharbour, all twelve boards had been playing against each other constantly.
The King and Queen pieces learning and strategizing.
Though they were not very good players.
If Leon had splurged on a Greater or Grand Soul for the King and Queen pieces, they might actually get really good.
But with intelligence threshold of the Atronach souls he’d used… Not so much.
Leon waited at a table that was set beside the venue in the Great Hall. This story is hosted at g.com.
Beside him, a chicken in a refined outfit with a top hat sat in an ornate cage.
On his other side was an aquarium with a Crab in a Bowler Hat and a Monocle fixed to one of its eyestalks magically.
And Leon himself was wearing a perfectly tailored suit and tie.
But on his head he wore a cross between a jesters hat and a crown.
The Shivering Isles represented two domains.
Madness and Order.
The Cheese Eating Chess Tournament was kind of symbolic in the rigid structure of chess, and the madness that was the rest of the rules.
Leon actually felt that it all fit together quite nicely.
Fairly soon there were enough contestants gathered to play that Leon decided that he wanted to get everything started.
“Hello everyone!” Leon said loudly to get everyone’s attention, “Thank you all for coming.
Those of you who decided to show up will get to keep the Chess sets that are laid out.
Now, let me go over the full ruleset so were all on the same page.”
Leon then described the rules.
For his little tournament.
The older students who had deigned to join them looked slightly put off.
Ron Weasley looked excited.
And his brothers Fred and George had their eyes on the free Chess sets.
Fortunately, only 11 people had actually shown up.
So, Leon had plenty of boards for everyone to participate and get a set themselves.
“Mind if I join in?
Or is this a student only thing?” A very unexpected voice sounded out as the players drew lots to see who would play against who.
“Professor McGonagall?” Leon gasped and whipped around to find the woman standing there with her usual severe expression.
Leon quickly composed himself, “Of course you can participate.” Leon said with a smile, “We were uneven and kind of needed another person.”
“Quite fortuitous that I possess quite the interest in Wizard’s Chess then.” She said as she approached the table with a lone contestant.
Leon took a moment to ensure that everyone was ready.
Then he blew a whistle to signal the start of the games.
Professor McGonagall turned out to be both a talented chess player and surprisingly quite the consumer of cheese.
In a matter of minutes, McGonagall was the first to win in the first round.
Followed shortly by Roland Weasley defeated his opponent, Aline Hawthorne, who was a seventh year Ravenclaw and leader of the Hogwarts Wizard’s Chess club.
She looked like she’d just been trampled over by a deer after Ron soundly defeated her.
Soon enough, the first round ended.
Leon gave the losers their Chess sets and gave everyone a few minutes break before the second round.
That was when Leon realized that he’d not accounted for the fact that there would be three people after this round… Whatever, he would just play with the third and most likely lose.
Leon ended up playing against Professor McGonagall.
He gave it his all, but he couldn’t beat the woman.
Neither in consumption of the cheese, nor in pure chess strategy.
Leon found that he was actually much than he’d been before.
The additional stats helped tremendously.
But he was not a match for the experienced and well practiced witch.
Leon bowed out and then the Tournament was down to just Ron and McGonagall.
The match was pretty epic.
Wizards Chess had one thing that common chess did not.
The actual battle between chess pieces.
And Leon’s Bound Chess pieces were kind of showboaty.
The Pawns had rune engraved swords and shields.
They charged and gave guttural multi-tonal battle cries as they ‘slew’ the opposing pieces.
The King and Queen pieces would relay the orders from the player, adding flavor text like “The Lord/Lady commands that we seize C-3.
Go forth!
In the name of Father of Coldharbour!” and stuff like that.
Leon could only chuckle and shrug his shoulders at the questions that the participants had asked about their dialogues.
All at once the game came to a conclusion when Ron suddenly smirked after moving his Knight, “Checkmate in five.” He said in full confidence.
Professor McGonagall looked over the board with a raised brow.
Running through the possibilities in her mind for a few moments while Ron gorged himself on cheese.
She didn’t say anything, she just ordered a piece to take one of Ron’s pawns.
Ron didn’t give her even a moment before he had already called his next move.
Barely looking at the board as he continued stuffing his face.
The pattern repeated twice more before Professor McGonagall sat back with a look of confusion, “I concede defeat young man.” She said her usual stern expression replaced with a contemplative one.
“10 points to Gryffindor for one of the finest games of Wizard’s Chess I have ever seen.”
Leon distributed the Chess sets to the remaining individuals who had not gotten their yet before handing Ron the Chicken’s top hat, and the Crab’s Monocle.
He smiled as he thanked everyone for participating and spun on his heels to leave.
“Mister MicKinnon-Prewett.” Professor McGonagall’s voice sounded out before he even took a step, “Will you be making this a weekly event?”
Leon spun back around, “No Professor, but I may come up with a few other activities.
They may not involve Chess though.”
“Well, it was a good bit of proper fun.
I do hope that you continue in this direction and don’t find your being kidnapped by your phoenix friend again this weekend.” She stated before she shifted into her cat form and padded off.
“Dang, message received.” Leon thought to himself as he almost giddily headed for his Dorm room.
He wasn’t planning on leaving the castle any time soon anyway.
Once he was safely within the confines of his Dorm room.
Leon laid down and moved his mind into Coldharbour.
And accepted the prompt in the [shop] to claim his reward.
Instantly, Leon felt his awareness spread to new realm.
He leaned into that sensation and observed his new realm.
And this was the first time a Realm that he knew about defied his expectations.
He had expected something resembling the chaotic landscapes from the Oblivion games.
What he got was another plane similar to the Hunting Grounds.
Except that this one was designed very differently.
This plain was mostly ocean, surrounding very large islands that were chaotically sprinkled throughout the infinite ocean.
Some of the Islands were so close together that a person could jump across the gaps easily.
Others separated from any other visible land by hundreds or thousands of miles.
The islands were all individually quite large.
Around two to five hundred miles long and wide at their longest crossings.
Every single one of these thousands of islands followed the exact same layout.
Looking at them from above, they appeared to be giant triangles where two sides decided that they wanted to get a little creative with their shorelines and one side being geometrically perfect.
In the center of each of the islands was a large Tetrahedron shaped mountain from which radiated three distinct territories on the islands.
The first territory to really catch Leons attention was because of how artificial it looked.
Its borders were perfectly straight.
Its side of the Tetrahedron mountain looked like a staircase of silver-white with perfectly symmetrical crystal growths that formed canals that allowed water to flow down into the silver-white landscape that contained exacting geometric perfection.
Rivers that flowed absolutely in a perfectly level manner taking 90 degree turns and filling the territory with a perfect grid.
There were silvery crystals that grew in perfect formations, defining roads, and creating bridges across the rivers that flowed unnaturally flat.
“Obviously the territories of Order…” Leon muttered to himself as he examined their layouts.
All of the territories like it across all of the islands followed exactly the same layout.
The next territory was obviously Mania inspired.
The soils were a kaleidoscope of over saturated colors.
The territory seemingly random, with deep gorges and high plateaus in a riotous design that refused to be the same anywhere.
And the third was mostly dark.
A suffocating, dense expanse of black muck, peat, and grey silt.
The earth was cold, deeply waterlogged, and spongy.
The ground littered with cracks into deep fissures that slowly oozed thick, mineral-heavy mud.
After taking it all in Leon pulled up his interface.
Growth was getting exciting and happening so much faster now.
He could already feel the effects of the extra stat points.

[Task: Retrieve Hidden or Forbidden or Forgotten knowledge from a book in a guarded/secure/hidden location and memorize the contents.
Reward: Apocrypha]
Leon had only just gotten used to his stats being at 2.
And now they were at 3.
Again, it felt like a triumph.
Though a little less so than that first time.
His points total had barely climbed at all, but that was ok.
The new task was interesting though.
Leon’s first instinct was that he should sneak into the Restricted Section of the Library.
But then he shook his head at that.
Why go to the library and risk getting caught.
The Room of Hidden things had lots of forbidden texts and artifacts.
All he’d need to do is grab a couple out of there and memorize the contents of a book.
Which his new stat point in mind would help with.
Over the week, Leon had noticed that even with only a single point added to his stats he retained significantly more information from the things he read.
Previously he had retained somewhere around 70 to 80 percent of everything that he read.
With 2 points that had increased average around a solid 80 percent.
It was hard to measure, but it had significantly improved his retention rate while also increasing the speed at which he could take in information.
Now with his stats at 3, he might be able to memorize a book with only five or six read throughs.
How his stats affected his Earthly Avatar was still difficult to quantify.
Leon had done tests over the course of the week.
But natural improvements from practice alongside adding more points to the stats was going to make tracking the exact improvements difficult.
The Basics had covered that they were additive and percentile based, but it didn’t say what that percentage was…
Leon shook off the contemplation and shrugged.
He’d figure it out eventually.
