The Great Hall had never felt so alive with unease.

Candlelight flickered against stone walls as though the castle itself were holding its breath.

Students leaned forward at every table, the usual excited chatter of the Sorting reduced to urgent whispers.Full novel: Harry Potter: Prince Of Stone. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

All of it centered on the dark-haired boy who had just shattered the carefully scripted beginning of term.

Albus Dumbledore stood rigid at the staff table, blue eyes sharp behind half-moon spectacles.

The evening had already slipped from his grasp.

A first-year had struck a Malfoy, forced the Potions master to deduct points from his own house, and now stood unbowed before the entire school.

“I am the Hogwarts Headmaster,” Dumbledore said, voice carrying with the weight of decades.

The ancient Sorting Hat, resting on its stool, answered before the echo faded.

“…Only as long as the castle allows!”

A single, resonant clang rang through the hall — a bell no living witch or wizard had heard inside these walls.

The sound vibrated up through the flagstones and into every ribcage.

Several students gasped.

Even the ghosts stilled.

“Headmasters come and go,” the Hat continued, its voice dry and ancient, “but Hogwarts prevails.

This school was built by the four founders to teach magic to all who can wield it — not so that some imagined elite might lord over the rest.

Hogwarts must unite against the darkness that gathers, or all will be lost.

Come, Harry Crow.

Let me sort you.”

Harry turned his head.

Hermione Granger stood a few paces away, brown eyes steady despite the storm around them.

He raised an eyebrow in silent question.

She answered without hesitation.

“We’re already here.

And you can still take us home if we decide we hate it.” Her gaze flicked meaningfully toward the Hat.

“I’ll save you a seat at the Ravenclaw table.”

Harry’s mouth curved in the smallest of smiles.

He crossed to the stool, sat, and let the tattered fabric settle over his eyes.

Behind him, Dumbledore’s jaw tightened.

Without the castle’s cooperation, even his own office could become unreachable.

The boy was here, though.

That was something.

Influence could still be exerted — given time.

Inside the Hat, ancient magic sifted through Harry’s mind: goblin-forged steel, disciplined training, a father’s careful plans, and the bright thread of a girl’s friendship.

“Oh, you qualify easily for Rowena’s house,” the Hat murmured.

“You will need Miss Granger’s friendship and Master Flitwick’s leadership here.

Therefore… RAVENCLAW!”

The shout cracked across the hall like a whip.

Ravenclaw table exploded into cheers.

Hermione was already on her feet, clapping hard enough to bruise her palms, the rest of her new house quickly joining her.

The Boy Who Lived — in Ravenclaw?

It was unthinkable.

It was brilliant.

At the Gryffindor table the applause was thin and uncertain.

Two red-headed twins voiced what the entire house was thinking.

“We didn’t get Potter?”

Harry stood.

A sudden, solid weight pressed against the top of his head.

He reached up, fingers sliding into the Hat’s folds, and closed around a hilt that felt like it had been waiting for him.

He drew the sword free.

Light caught along the blade — goblin-forged, perfectly balanced, runes and the name Godric Gryffindor etched into the steel.

Jewels in the crossguard flashed like captured fire.

The hall went utterly silent.

The Hat spoke again, voice carrying to every corner.

“Your heritage lets you draw that sword.

Your training lets you wield it.

The sword itself acknowledges you as Hogwarts champion.”

A shimmer of magic, and a scabbard appeared on the stool.

Harry buckled it on with the easy competence of someone who had worn steel before.

A deep-blue sash materialised across his chest, bronze lettering bold: RAVENCLAW.

He sheathed the blade with a clean, final sound, then handed the Hat back to a stunned Professor McGonagall.

“Mr Crow,” Dumbledore said tightly, “I shall expect you in my office directly after the feast.”

Harry turned, bowing once — polite, but not deferential.

“I must disappoint you, Headmaster.

The law does not permit it.

Since you are barred from Gringotts, you cannot be alone with a goblin minor.

My father must be present for any discussion.”

He pivoted to the Charms professor.

“Professor Flitwick, this is a copy of the instructions the headmaster intended to ignore.” He passed over a rolled parchment.

“May I ask who Professor Snape is?”

Every eye in the hall swung toward the greasy-haired man at the staff table.

Harry offered Snape the same precise, short bow.

“No offence to your person or professionalism, sir, but you fall under the same laws of distrust as the headmaster.

It was only Dumbledore’s word that kept you from Azkaban as a Death Eater.

Goblins place little faith in that word.

Therefore I will not attend your classes.

I — and any friends I choose to bring — will receive private potions tuition instead.”

The silence that followed was thick enough to choke on.

Filius Flitwick recovered first, voice high but steady.

“You appear well acquainted with a blade, Mr Crow.

May I assume you have received proper training?”

Harry’s eyes glinted.

“Master Sharpshard asked me to pass on his regards, sir.

He spoke highly of you.”

Flitwick’s mouth opened and closed.

“You trained under Master Sharpshard?”

“I was honoured to call him one of my mentors.”

Harry walked to the Ravenclaw table without looking back.

Hermione had kept the seat beside her.

The sword at his hip moved with him like it had always belonged there.

At the staff table, Dumbledore finally waved a distracted hand.

Platters of food appeared, but few reached for them.

Secrets that had been carefully buried for years now lay exposed under floating candles.

Minerva McGonagall dropped into the chair beside the headmaster, tartan robes snapping like a battle standard.

Her whisper was ice.

“Staff meeting.

Tonight.

You will have answers, Albus.

I do not enjoy being made a fool of by a first-year in front of the entire school.

That acceptance letter should have come to me.

And it seems to have slipped your mind that Harry has not lived at Privet Drive for some time — despite my repeated inquiries.”

Dumbledore’s appetite died completely.

Further along the table, Severus Snape’s black eyes promised murder.

Flitwick leaned toward him anyway.

“That was a wise decision earlier, Severus.

Mr Malfoy’s tongue rather invited the trouble it received.

Knowing one of Mr Crow’s trainers, I suspect the boy could have done far worse.”

Snape’s voice was low venom.

“I will confiscate those weapons the moment this farce ends.

First-years carrying swords.

This school is descending into chaos.”

“You cannot,” Flitwick replied quietly.

“Hogwarts has accepted Mr Crow as a goblin student.

He may not carry a wand, but he is permitted a blade.

Demanding a goblin surrender his steel is a greater insult than asking a wizard to hand over his wand.”

Snape’s lip curled.

“An arrogant little toerag, exactly like his father.

Not even sorted and already issuing demands.

He should have been permitted to leave the castle.”

At the Ravenclaw table, Harry settled beside Hermione.

She gave him a small, satisfied nod, though her eyes kept returning to the sword now resting against his chair.

The feast had begun, but the air remained charged.

Students kept stealing glances toward the boy in blue and bronze who wore Gryffindor’s blade and had just declared open independence from two of the most powerful men in the castle.

Harry Crow had arrived at Hogwarts.

And Hogwarts had answered.
