Ragnok did not look up when Barchoke entered his office.

The Director of Gringotts sat behind a slab of black stone that passed for a desk in the deepest level of the bank.

The walls were carved with old goblin runes that pulsed faintly in rhythm with the vaults above—like a heartbeat buried beneath the earth.Full novel: Harry Potter: Prince Of Stone. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

A dozen enchanted quills hovered in the air, writing without pause.

“Speak,” Ragnok said.

Barchoke did not waste time with pleasantries.

“We have confirmed it.”

That alone made one of the quills snap in half mid-air.

Ragnok slowly set down the document he was reading.

“Confirmed what.”

Barchoke stepped forward and placed a sealed report on the desk.

The seal broke on its own the moment it touched stone, as if eager to be released.

“A parasitic soul fragment.

Anchored to Harry Potter.

Embedded in the scar.

Actively feeding.”

Silence followed.

Not the comfortable kind.

The kind that made the air feel heavier.

Ragnok read.

Once.

Then again, slower.

When he finished, he leaned back slightly, claws tapping against the arm of his chair.

“Who authorized leaving it untreated?”

Barchoke’s jaw tightened.

“We do not yet know.

But it was not ignorance.

The binding structure is deliberate.

Whoever placed the child on that doorstep knew exactly what they were doing.”

One quill shattered.

Ragnok’s eyes lifted.

“Then the question is not who left it there.”

His voice dropped.

“It is why they allowed it to remain.”

In the upper world, something ancient and carefully maintained finally cracked.

Albus Dumbledore paused mid-step in the corridor of Hogwarts Castle.

The air shifted.

It was subtle at first—like a note played slightly out of tune in a familiar melody.

The wards of Britain were not something one simply felt unless one knew them intimately.

Dumbledore knew them like breathing.

And suddenly, one of them stopped breathing.

He turned his head slightly, blue eyes narrowing behind half-moon glasses.

“No,” he murmured.

A second ward collapsed.

Then a third.

Not destruction.

Not attack.

Removal.

As if something had been… signed away.

Dumbledore moved faster.

Back in Surrey, Vernon Dursley slept poorly for the first time in days.

The house felt wrong.

Not haunted.

Not magical.

Just… unfinished, like a machine that had suddenly lost a critical piece and continued running anyway.

Petunia lay awake beside him, staring at the ceiling.

“He’s gone,” she whispered.

Vernon grunted.

“Good.”

But even he didn’t sound convinced anymore.

Downstairs, Dudley cried once in his sleep and then stopped abruptly, as if something had cut the sound off mid-breath.

Neither of them moved to check.

Deep beneath Gringotts, the examination chamber had been transformed.

The sleeping child was no longer on a simple stone table.

Now he rested within a circle of etched silver and iron, runes glowing faintly like embers under ash.

Protective wards layered over protective wards.

Not to contain him—but to contain what was inside him.

Three healers stood at the edge of the circle.

And in the center, hovering above Harry Potter’s chest, was a glass vessel shaped like an egg.

Inside it, something moved.

Not alive.

Not dead.

Something in between.

The pig lay unconscious on a separate slab nearby, already bound in runes that dulled its awareness.

It was not cruelty.

It was containment.

Goblins did not waste life unnecessarily—but they wasted nothing when it came to dark magic.

Barchoke stood beside Ragnok as the Director observed the containment field.

“Stability?” Ragnok asked.

“Fifteen minutes before full extraction can begin,” one healer replied.

“And the child?”

“Will not survive conscious memory of it,” another said bluntly.

“We will suppress recall.

But the body will know.

Pain response unavoidable.”

Ragnok’s claws tightened slightly.

“That is acceptable,” he said at last.

Barchoke glanced at him.

“Director—”

Ragnok cut him off with a look.

“This is not a negotiation, Barchoke.

This is a containment failure that should have ended in extinction.

The fact that it did not is already mercy.”

A pause.

Then softer:

“Begin.”

Above them, the wards of Britain continued to unravel.

At the Ministry of Magic, a crystal embedded deep in the floor of the Auror Command Center cracked clean in half without warning.

Several witches staggered as protective enchantments failed across entire departments.

Someone shouted for damage reports.

No one understood what had happened.

Not yet.

In Hogwarts, Dumbledore reached the Headmaster’s office and shut the door behind him.

Phineas Nigellus Black’s portrait stirred immediately.

“What have you done this time, Albus?” the former Headmaster muttered.

“Another crisis?

Another prophecy?”

Dumbledore did not answer.

He raised his wand and traced a slow pattern in the air.

The room responded instantly—walls shimmering as he tapped into the core lattice of Britain’s magical protection network.

His expression hardened.

“They’re gone,” he said quietly.

Phineas blinked.

“What’s gone?”

Dumbledore’s voice lowered further.

“The blood wards on the Dursley residence.”

The portrait froze.

“That’s impossible,” Phineas said after a beat.

“You anchored them yourself.

They were tied to sacrifice, binding, deep magic—”

“They are not broken,” Dumbledore interrupted.

His eyes sharpened.

“They are revoked.”

A pause.

Then, almost reluctantly:

“As if the contract was… annulled.”

Back at Gringotts, the final preparation was complete.

The glass vessel above Harry’s chest began to hum.

The pig’s breathing slowed.

The runes around the chamber brightened in sequence, like a countdown no one needed to speak aloud.

Barchoke watched the child carefully.

For a moment, he thought he saw the baby’s fingers twitch.

Not waking.

Responding.

Ragnok raised a single hand.

“Extraction.”

The world inside the chamber shifted.

Magic tightened.

Focused.

And then—

The scar on Harry Potter’s forehead pulsed once.

Black.

Sharp.

Alive.

Something inside it noticed what was about to happen.

And for the first time since it had been placed there, it resisted.
