“Why are you two up so early today?” Scott looked at Fred and George suspiciously.
“Unless you didn’t sleep last night?”
“We slept enough during the summer holiday!
A great adventure is calling us!” Fred gave a strange bow.
George raised his head “proudly.” “Mr Trollope, you have been absent from our adventures for an entire year and would not understand such a principle.”
“But I did provide you with support, didn’t I?” Scott pointed at the brass monocular telescope in Fred’s hand.
“This was only your Christmas present from last year!” Fred shortened the extendable telescope and put it into the pocket of his robe.
“It cannot help us see the annoying old Filch in advance while we wander through the winding castle at night.” George also took an identical telescope from his pocket and waved it.
“We can only use it to observe what Percy is doing so furtively.”
“Perhaps he wants to lie in ambush beneath Ravenclaw Tower and unexpectedly kill several rivals,” Fred guessed.
George widened his eyes in horror.
“That way, he can make sure he becomes Head Boy in his seventh year!”
Scott could not help laughing.
“Perhaps he will choose to kill you two annoying brothers first,” he said.
“Oh, Percy has definitely thought about doing that more than once.” George blinked.
Fred continued, “He wants to become Minister for Magic, and perhaps we will become stains on his future reputation.”
“He thinks that as long as he removes those stains…”
“…he will become a spotless and pure Minister for Magic!”
The two spoke in their strange way, then burst into laughter again.
After they finished laughing, Fred suddenly put on a serious expression.
“We want to tell you something, Scott.”
“Welcome back to join us again in the new school year.” George also adopted a solemn expression.
Scott was somewhat surprised.
He had only run into the twins during several of his nighttime excursions in his first and second years, and they had avoided the pursuit of the caretaker, Filch, together.
During the previous school year, he had become absorbed in his research and stopped wandering the castle at night.
He had not expected the twins to regard him as one of their nighttime companions.
“Perhaps?” Scott smiled and answered uncertainly.
“Then it is settled.
If you find anything new, you must tell us.”
“Goodbye!”
The twins decided on their own that he had already agreed, then ran away like a gust of wind while laughing.
Scott shook his head, crossed the entrance hall, and entered the Great Hall.
After he sat beside the long table and read for a while, food appeared on the table.
Breakfast had begun.
He placed the book to one side, took a glass of milk, some sausages and bacon, a sunny-side-up egg, and a serving of soda bread, then began slowly enjoying his breakfast.
When Scott was almost finished eating, his three roommates finally appeared beside the long table.
“Scott, why did you get up so early?” Roger sat beside Scott while yawning.
“I followed my parents’ daily routine during the summer.”
“You know, Scott, something major happened last night without us knowing.” As Eddie tore the bread into pieces and put them into his mouth, he lowered his voice and spoke indistinctly.
“What happened?”
Scott finished the milk in his glass in one breath and put the glass down.
“You know that when school begins, the first-years always return later than we do because they have to learn the way, so we missed what happened last night!”
Eddie was clearly deeply regretful that he had failed to obtain the news firsthand, but he still told Scott with great enthusiasm, “Last night, while Cooper and Taylor were leading the first-years up the spiral staircase of Ravenclaw Tower, one of the boys among the first-years pushed a girl down the stairs.”
Hearing this, Scott immediately thought of something and asked, “Was the girl all right?”
“She was fine.
Cooper used the Levitation Charm on her in time.” Eddie said with a grin, “In any case, the boy who pushed her aroused everyone’s anger.
His roommates threw him out of the dormitory, so he slept in the common room for the night and was only sent back by Penelope this morning.”
So that was what had happened.
Scott understood that the boy was Jacob Kent.
But he always felt that the boy did not seem like someone who would have the courage to push a classmate down the stairs.
Still, Penelope had already dealt with the matter, and Scott believed she would handle it somewhat better than Cooper and Taylor.
So he quickly put the matter aside.
“I need to speak with Professor Flitwick, so I’ll go to the Charms classroom first.” Scott directly picked up the books on the table and stood.
“See you guys in class later.”
“I’ll go with you, Scott!”
Roger stood at that moment with his books in his arms and a sandwich still in one hand.
“I need to ask the professor to remove Divination from my schedule.”
“Then let’s go together.” Scott had no objection.
The two moved against the flow of students gradually entering the Great Hall and travelled all the way to the Charms classroom on the fourth floor of the main castle.
Scott pushed open the classroom door, and as expected, Professor Flitwick was already standing on a pile of books beside the lectern.
Professor Flitwick always had the habit of arriving in the classroom early and watching each student come in.
“Good morning, Professor Flitwick.”
Scott and Roger greeted him respectfully.
“Good morning, Scott, Roger!” Professor Flitwick replied warmly.
He had some goblin ancestry, which made him short and gave him a high-pitched voice.
“Professor…”
Roger stepped forward first and explained his request to Professor Flitwick.
After listening to Roger, Professor Flitwick did not object.
He smiled and said, “This is quite normal, Roger.
I believe that a student’s ability to arrange his time reasonably and rationally abandon a subject destined to produce no results is also a display of wisdom.”
“Thank you, Professor!”
Roger was pleased to have received Professor Flitwick’s approval.
“Then your Divination lessons will be cancelled for this school year.
I will explain the matter to Professor Trelawney.” Read this novel at novelping.com for the best experience.
Professor Flitwick nodded, then looked towards Scott.
“Do you also have something to tell me, Scott?”
“Of course.” Scott stepped forward and smiled confidently.
“I could not wait to show you the results of my work, so I came to the classroom early.
This is also an early birthday present for you.”
“A birthday present?”
Professor Flitwick let out an excited squeal.
Although his birthday, October 17, was still more than a month away, who cared?
“Oh!
I like birthday presents!
What are you still waiting for, Mr Trollope?” He could not help showing an expectant expression.
“I’ll show you right now!”
Scott reached into the Mokeskin pouch at his waist and took out an oil painting almost as tall as he was.
Professor Flitwick smiled.
He could see that Scott’s Mokeskin pouch was only a disguise and that the inside had clearly been enchanted with an Undetectable Extension Charm to hold something so large, but he did not expose him.
He only looked expectantly at the oil painting before him, which was covered with a white cloth.
“Could it be that you taught yourself how to make magical paintings, Mr Trollope?” Professor Flitwick rubbed his hands together.
“It is not a magical painting.”
Scott reached out and grasped the white cloth.
“Although I only used Muggle painting techniques, I think this painting displays the results of my work better than a magical painting would.”
After saying this, he pulled the white cloth away in one motion.
“Oh!”
Looking at the oil painting suddenly revealed before him, Professor Flitwick’s eyes widened instantly.
He suddenly let out a high-pitched scream and fell from the pile of books.
Roger hurried forward to support him, but Professor Flitwick paid no attention to that.
He scrambled up from the floor by himself, quickly walked closer to the painting, and raised his head to stare at it in fascination.
“Oh…
this is real…
too incredible…”
He continued uttering exclamations.
Looking at Professor Flitwick’s reaction, Scott could not help smiling with pride.
“Professor, are you satisfied with this birthday present?”
“Of course, I’m satisfied… no, more than satisfied!”
Professor Flitwick nodded repeatedly, his face blooming with a smile.
