As night approached, Aine planned to explore the school castle.

After all, this was the first time he had seen such a magical castle.

Unlike his family’s ancestral castle, the school castle was filled with all kinds of wondrous magic.Full novel: Harry Potter: The Retired Archmage — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

For example, there were classrooms that could disappear.

The Charms classroom had vanished after class, and no matter how many times Aine searched, he could not find it.

Moreover, the classroom used by each year group was different.

The Charms classroom only appeared during lessons, and as soon as class ended, it would disappear as though the classroom had never existed in the first place.

His family’s ancestral castle did not seem to have this function, or perhaps Aine simply had not discovered it yet.

According to his own reasoning, the latter possibility was more likely.

There were several places in the castle that Aine had never discovered, such as the three unknown family trees and the true family library.

After dinner, Aine found a secluded place and cast the Disillusionment Charm on himself.

This spell was very useful for students trying to evade Argus Filch while he patrolled the school.

However, some essence extracted from camphor leaves was also necessary, since Filch had a cat.

After spraying the essence extracted from camphor leaves onto his shoes and casting the Disillusionment Charm, Aine began his nighttime exploration.

No student had ever dared to wander the school on the first night of classes.

After all, students who had not even finished their homework would hardly risk being punished by a professor just to carry out some private activities.

Aine, however, had nothing to fear.

The homework assigned that day was extremely easy for him.

Besides the Disillusionment Charm and camphor essence, Aine also cast a Quietening Charm on himself.

As he wandered around the first floor, his mental perception detected quite a few couples hidden away together.

Aine smiled.

It seemed Hogwarts Castle at night was livelier than he had imagined.

After encountering yet another couple, Aine arrived on the second floor. You are reading on g.com, the official source.

This was where the classrooms were concentrated, with most lessons taking place in classrooms on this floor.

Aine hoped to satisfy his curiosity tonight.

There were no knight golems in the second-floor corridors.

Apart from the floor-to-ceiling windows along the edges, there were doors that looked as though they had been carved directly from stone walls.

Aine touched one of the stone wall doors with his left hand and sensed the magic flowing within it.

After looking around and making sure nobody was nearby, Aine lightly tapped several magical nodes with his wand.

As expected, the stone wall door transformed into an ordinary wooden door.

Aine stepped inside.

He discovered that it was an abandoned Potions classroom.

The clear moonlight shone through the windows and fell across the floor.

Aine saw the teacher’s desk and the potion-brewing tables used by the students.

There was also a small bookshelf at the back of the classroom.

Aine walked over to inspect it and discovered that it actually contained some old Potions textbooks.

Among the pile of textbooks, Aine found one with the crest of the Ambrosius family emblazoned on its cover.

He picked it up and turned to the second page, where the owner’s name was written.

The golden name surprised him.

The book read: Task Apollo Ambrosius.

After the golden name disappeared, another name appeared: Task T.

Ambrosius.

This strange phenomenon caught Aine’s attention.

After all, his own name also contained the middle initial “T,” yet his parents had never told him what this letter represented.

They had only said that it was a gift from a friend of his grandfather.

Thinking of his mysterious godfather whose name he did not know, the strange phenomenon surrounding this name, and a piece of common knowledge that had long circulated in the magical world, that a wizard’s name possessed magical power, especially certain special names that could possess extraordinary properties, Aine’s curiosity deepened. With these questions in mind, Aine turned to the third page of the book, and his doubts were immediately resolved.

It read:

To whoever opens this book, I hope you will not be surprised.

I am an Ambrosius clan member with a Seer bloodline.

On a whim, I performed a divination and learned that you would come to this classroom and open this book at some point in the future.

My name will surely leave you with some questions, but I am here to give you the answers.

Every member of our clan is blessed by a special creature at birth, and our middle names are the names of these special creatures in mythology.

The first trial every clan member faces while growing up is discovering the true nature of the being represented by their middle name.

Only after passing the first trial can you obtain the key to the path ahead.

Every generation of clan members receives the blessing of a different special creature, and these blessings influence that clan member’s magical attributes.

As for this trial, I will give you a little hint: Ancient Runes.

After Aine finished reading the passage, the writing disappeared, and the original table of contents of the textbook appeared.

Only then did Aine realize that the Ambrosius family’s trials were everywhere.

From his own name to the history of the family, almost everything seemed to be shrouded in mystery.

It seemed there was a reason his family had been able to survive for so long.

His ancestors were truly clever.

Rather than deliberately explaining these hidden secrets, they left their descendants to discover them on their own.

What mattered was not the truth itself, but the process of pursuing the truth.

That process gradually made each generation of the family stronger.

After understanding the purpose of these trials, Aine began to love his family.

Blood ties might gradually grow distant through differences in language and behavior, but once you came to understand the greatness of those who came before you, you would develop a sense of belonging.

It was a special kind of emotion, much like how studying history could make you feel sorrow, joy, or admiration for the figures within it.

Aine then opened this unusual Potions textbook and discovered notes that were just as unusual.
