Ah!

Help!

What should she do?

She, she didn’t mean to.

Xia Qiaoxi climbed off him and sat by the bedside.

She cautiously watched Tang Yushen, whose handsome face twisted momentarily, with what seemed like tears glistening at the corners of his eyes.

“Does it hurt a lot?” she bit her lip.

Was it broken?

Men were so fragile.

“No.” Tang Yushen pulled the thin blanket over himself, casually covering his waist and abdomen. “Be gentler next time. If I’m ruined, what will you do for the rest of your life?”

“You don’t need to worry about me. Even if you’re ruined, I can still be very happy…” Xia Qiaoxi said weakly.

She hadn’t agreed to marry him anyway.

His condition was that she must never attempt suicide again.

“What?” Tang Yushen’s eyes darkened as he pressed her down onto the bed.

What kind of man was he?

Was he trained in martial arts?

Why were his reactions so fast, his movements so swift?

Now they were in a position with him on top and her beneath.

Xia Qiaoxi was too nervous to speak. Don’t move!

She absolutely must not move.

If the enemy doesn’t move, I won’t move.

If the enemy moves, I’ll move chaotically.

Wait and see how things develop.

Tang Yushen simply stared deeply at her without any additional movements.

“Are you… using me as a substitute?” Xia Qiaoxi asked suspiciously. “I always feel like you’re looking at me, yet also looking through me at someone else.”

She wasn’t a substitute for Xier.

She was Xier herself.

Xier reincarnated.

“No.” Tang Yushen denied it. “I have no exes, no ambiguous relationships. You can rest assured about that.”

Xia Qiaoxi couldn’t help but let her imagination run wild. Did he have some hidden condition?

How long was he going to maintain this position?

Xia Qiaoxi glanced sideways. His white shirt was all wrinkled, and he was still lying in bed with her. Did he really need to guard her personally to prevent her from running away?

“What’s… the situation outside?” she found a topic. “Are my parents still looking for me?”

“Possibly.”

Xia Qiaoxi’s expression darkened. She had always been strictly controlled before. This was her first act of rebellion, and it had turned out so serious. Her future days back at the Xia family probably wouldn’t be easy.

Sigh.

Suddenly, the sound of an ambulance came from outside the hotel, its wailing siren particularly conspicuous in the quiet night sky.

“The ambulance stopped…” Xia Qiaoxi excitedly sat up.

“Ah!”

Xia Qiaoxi bumped her forehead against his. “Ouch…”

Couldn’t he see she was trying to get up?

He didn’t even move.

“Let me rub it for you.” Tang Yushen’s gentle palm soothed her forehead. “You rest well. Don’t think about anything else. When dawn comes, everything will change.”

From the moment he met her, her life would be under his control.

It had been a long time since Xia Qiaoxi had received such care, especially from a stranger.

Even hugs – she hadn’t been hugged in so long.

Her biological father and stepmother never hugged her, only strictly demanded what she should do and shouldn’t do, warning her not to upset the He family’s third young master in the future, to behave properly when she married into the He family, and to quickly bear a young heir for them.

Tang Yushen looked down at her teary eyes. His precious Xier was still as delicate and pain-sensitive as before.

Yet this person who feared pain so much had stood in front of him to protect him.

This person who feared pain so much had once braved severe cold alone to search for him when he was trapped, returning home with frostbitten hands and feet.

“It’s so noisy outside, something must have happened.” Xia Qiaoxi whispered softly, “Do you want to go check?”

The ambulance was probably parked at the hotel entrance. Even though they were on a high floor, they could still hear the commotion downstairs.

“No.”

Right after saying that, Tang Yushen added, “You’re not allowed to go either.”

Strange, how could he guess what she was thinking?

“Then I’ll sleep a bit more. You should go back to your room and rest too, no need to watch over me…” Xia Qiaoxi slowly pulled the blanket over herself, “Is that okay?”

Tang Yushen stared at her intensely, and she met his gaze.

“Fine.”

He got out of bed and left her room.

Why did Tang Yushen’s back look so melancholy?

Never mind, sleep first.

There would likely be a tough battle tomorrow. Whether she could gain her freedom in the future depended on tomorrow.

Would Tang Yushen really help her?

The next day.

Xia Qiaoxi woke up groggily, having dreamed constantly and slept restlessly.

She struggled awake from a nightmare of Zombie Siege, “Mmm…”

Lazily turning her head, a figure appeared in her blurry vision.

Rubbing her eyes, she clearly saw Tang Yushen by her bedside and immediately sat up.

Tang Yushen had changed clothes and somehow brought in a sofa. He sat by her bed with his long legs crossed, his deep, unfathomable dark eyes fixed intently on her. The red veins in his eyes were more prominent than last night, and stubble had begun to shadow his handsome face.

Had he left last night only to come back?

And stayed up all night watching over her?

He must be Bewitched!

How terrifying.

This possessiveness…

“Mr. Tang, if you’re really afraid I’ll run away, why not just tie me up? Watching over me like this seems quite exhausting for you too…” Xia Qiaoxi spoke slowly, “Right?”

“I just want to look at you.” Tang Yushen wasn’t afraid she would run away.

He was afraid that meeting her last night had been an illusion.

Only by staying by Xia Qiaoxi’s side, only by watching her, could he feel she was real.

“How about… I take a photo for you to use as your phone wallpaper? Then you wouldn’t have to stare at me constantly…” Xia Qiaoxi found Tang Yushen somewhat frightening.

Did he have some psychological issue?

Had her words from last night come true?

Out of the wolf’s den and into the tiger’s lair.

“We’ll take photos another time.” Tang Yushen leaned forward, “Have you forgotten what day it is today?”

“My wedding?” Xia Qiaoxi tilted her head, “Mr. Tang, you promised you’d handle it.”

“He Luyi was sent to the hospital last night for a heart attack and still hasn’t left the operating room, so the wedding is canceled.” Tang Yushen said calmly, “Let’s have breakfast, then go to the hospital to see him.”

The heart attack was fake, of course. To cancel the wedding, a suitable excuse was necessary.

But he couldn’t let Xia Qiaoxi’s reputation suffer.

The story couldn’t be that Xia Qiaoxi had run away from the wedding.

He Luyi had accepted land worth 1.7 billion from him—this was just a small favor in return.

“Is he okay?” Xia Qiaoxi asked instinctively.

“You care about him?” Tang Yushen gripped her chin, “Xier, since the wedding is canceled, there’s no connection between you two anymore. I’m very possessive. My woman isn’t allowed to care about other men, least of all an ex-fiancé.”

The consequences of his jealousy were terrifying.

“I don’t care about him, I was just asking…” Xia Qiaoxi’s eyes darkened.

Did He Luyi have a heart attack because she ran away last night?

Now it’s done. The Xia family won’t let her off, and the He family certainly won’t either.

She’s doomed!

Xia Qiaoxi stared at Tang Yushen. “We’re going to the hospital to see He Luyi, and then what…”

“You’ll know when we get there.” Tang Yushen gently stroked her cheek. “Xier, I’ll handle everything.”

Though she had only met him last night, Xia Qiaoxi felt an inexplicable sense of reassurance at his words.

It seemed she could trust him.

“Alright.”

An hour later, the two went together to Yakang Hospital in Beijing.

He Luyi had already been moved out of the operating room and was lying in a VIP ward.

From a distance, Xia Qiaoxi saw Xia’s father standing in the corridor with a livid expression. She shrank back in fear, moving closer to Tang Yushen’s side.

“Don’t be afraid,” Tang Yushen whispered softly.

Even if she was afraid, she had to face it.

Xia Qiaoxi gave a slight nod.

As they reached the entrance of the ward, before Xia Qiaoxi could finish speaking, a fierce and forceful slap came crashing toward her.

Smack!
