To be honest, Selena Sinclair didn’t know Leo Aldridge all that well.

She only knew that he had starred in a few low-budget films and done some commercials.

As far as male celebrities in the country went, his looks were certainly striking.Full novel: He Made Me a Joke, I Made Him a Stranger — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

‘She probably only deigned to show up because of Leo Aldridge.’

Once the printer spat out the final page, she organized the documents, rose from her desk, and headed out with the materials in hand.

After passing through several departments, she arrived at the bustling film set downstairs.

Claire Cameron was in the middle of a heated phone conversation.

As Selena Sinclair approached, Zoe Zane smoothly took the revised script from her.

Claire Cameron gave her a quick greeting, then promptly hung up.

Selena Sinclair managed a faint smile and walked over.

Lucas Hawthorne was standing behind the crowd, dressed in a silver-gray suit with his arms crossed over his chest.

He looked every bit the perfect gentleman.

The moment he saw Selena Sinclair, Lucas Hawthorne’s gaze instinctively shifted to her, and he offered a faint smile.

That smile, however, drew disgruntled looks from several of the actresses nearby.

“Mr.

Hawthorne,” Selena Sinclair greeted him.

For some reason, Selena Sinclair always felt that the way Lucas Hawthorne looked at her was a little different.

From the very first time they met up until now, the feeling he gave her was always…

off.

‘I can’t put my finger on it, but something just feels wrong.’

“I’ve been incredibly busy lately, so I haven’t had a chance to come by for a proper chat.

Are you settling in all right here?”

Lucas Hawthorne asked, a broad smile on his face.

His arms remained crossed, his gaze fixed straight ahead.

His radiant smile always had a way of putting people at ease.

It was like a ray of winter sun piercing through the clouds, instantly warming one’s heart.

But to Selena Sinclair, a charming exterior often hid the greatest dangers.

“It’s been alright,” Selena Sinclair replied coolly, gently brushing her hair back.

‘I don’t get why, out of everyone here, he only seems to care if *I’m* settling in.’

Meanwhile, just outside the film set, a man in a black bodyguard uniform was on his phone.

CLICK.

He snapped a photo with his phone, capturing her radiant smile.

He even managed to get Lucas Hawthorne, who was standing beside her, in the frame.

「The Vaughn Apex Conglomerate Headquarters.」

Sylas Vaughn had just emerged from a lengthy video conference.

He looked utterly exhausted after two back-to-back international conferences.

He strode into his office, yanked at his tie, and collapsed onto the black leather sofa.

An assistant hurried to his side.

“Sir, are you all right?”

Sylas Vaughn shot a look at the assistant.

The sheer force of his cold, powerful presence made the young man hold his breath.

‘I just sat through hours of back-to-back meetings, and he has the nerve to ask if I’m all right?

Is he trying to be annoying?’

Sylas Vaughn ignored him.

He stretched his limbs, leaned his whole body back into the sofa, and closed his eyes to recuperate.

‘If it weren’t for that damn woman, Selena Sinclair, messing with his head, he wouldn’t have to work himself to the point of exhaustion.’

‘He had to run his empire and, on top of that, figure out how to find her.’

He hadn’t intended to look for her at first.

He was simply furious that Selena Sinclair had schemed against him.

However, he never expected the woman to vanish into thin air.

Over the past several days, he had mobilized all of his resources to find her.

He had even dispatched his trusted confidant, Julian Ford, to the handful of places Selena Sinclair might have gone.
