Rowan Keller paused.

She hadn’t expected him to know about this.

“So you also know that Mommy and Daddy are getting a divorce.” She had been constantly thinking about how to tell him in a way that would minimize the hurt.Full novel: He Told Me to Accept Another Woman — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Summer nodded his little head.

“Uh-huh!”

Rowan hugged him, feeling a wave of guilt.

“I’m sorry.”

“Mommy, you’re so silly.” A look of concern crossed Summer’s innocent face as he took her hand.

“You shouldn’t have asked for my custody.”

Rowan froze.

‘It was as if her heart had suddenly stopped.’

‘Doesn’t Summer want to go with her?’

“Even if I stay with Daddy, you’ll still be the person I love most.” Summer tilted his head up, thinking for the umpteenth time how silly his mommy was.

“I’ll miss you every day, and I’ll come see you during school breaks.”

Rowan suddenly smiled, her eyes welling with tears before she knew it.

“You should have let Daddy take me, so he’d know that raising a child takes a lot of energy.” Summer’s voice was soft, but his words sounded like they were coming from a little adult.

“I don’t want to.” Rowan felt that the greatest blessings in her life were her loving mother and Summer.

“I can’t bear for you to stay in a home like that.

I want your childhood and your future to be happy and full of love.”

Only then would the child be emotionally healthy.

If he were to live with Mr.

Hawthorne, Mrs.

Hawthorne, and Zion Hawthorne all the time, it might be fine for a short while, but over time, it would be too easy for him to be led astray.

Hawthorne thought cheating was common in their social circle, his son, Zion Hawthorne, also took it for granted that having a wife at home and a mistress on the side was no big deal.

She didn’t want Summer to be corrupted.

Her Summer should be a physically and mentally healthy child.

“Mommy, you’re so silly and foolish.” Summer hugged her tighter again, his big, round eyes full of concern and love for her.

“But you’re also really good.”

Hearing this, Rowan lovingly stroked his head, feeling that everything she had done was worth it.

“Mommy.” The way Summer said her name was adorable.

Rowan: “Hmm?”

A hint of hesitation appeared on his small face.

“Are you and Daddy getting a divorce because of that secretary today?”

Rowan’s gaze faltered.

“I saw that trending topic from a couple of days ago.

Today, Daddy said he was on a business trip, but for the next few hours, his step count just kept going up,” Summer explained in his soft, sweet voice, just like a little adult.

“You…” The words caught in Rowan’s throat, unsure how to respond.

She was afraid he wouldn’t be able to handle it.

It was also in that moment that she realized Summer’s ability to figure things out was even stronger than hers.

How did a child so young know to check his step count to figure out what was going on?

“You don’t have to worry about me being sad.” Summer’s big eyes were filled with concern for her.

He knew that even though his daddy had cheated, his father’s love and attention toward him wouldn’t change.

The only difference was that his daddy wouldn’t love Mommy like he used to anymore. Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.

He was worried that Mommy wouldn’t be able to get through it.

Rowan still didn’t say anything, simply reassuring him, “Even though Daddy and Mommy are getting a divorce, we will both always love you.”

After their talk, Rowan played with Summer for a while to take his mind off things.

Over the next two days, she started looking for a house and a job.

After five whole years without a job, returning to the workforce was incredibly difficult.

Even her excellent academic qualifications were of little use.

After all, so many university students had graduated over the years; there was no shortage of candidates like her.

When Willow Sterling called to check in on her and learned about her situation, she made a suggestion: “Why don’t you come work at my company?

I’ll give you the highest salary.”

“I’ll keep looking for now.” Rowan didn’t want to be a bother.

It would be one thing if she did well, but if she performed poorly, it would be too easy to attract negative attention for Willow.

“If I really can’t find anything, I’ll come to you for help.”

“Let me see your resume.

I’ll edit it for you,” Willow suggested.

Rowan sent it over.

Besides occasionally picking up supporting roles with little screen time but excellent character concepts, Willow Sterling was also the boss of an entertainment company under the Sterling Group.

When it came to resumes, she was very reliable.

“You’re still as painfully earnest as you were right after college.” Willow couldn’t help but roast her when she saw the resume.

“After being married to that damned scumbag for so many years, haven’t you learned anything from him?”
