[61 AC, WIDOW’S TOWER]
As the hour of the wolf closes in, Rhaena Targaryen, the oldest living child of the late King Aenys Targaryen and the older sister to the current King Jaehaerys Targaryen, is currently in the grueling throes of labor.
She is being carefully attended by the resident maester under the employ of House Towers.
This impoverished noble house in
Westeros is standing on the brink of complete extinction, its survival now hanging entirely upon the unborn heir that Rhaena has been carrying in her womb.
Rhaena’s current predicament is the blooming fruit of a singular night of passion that she and young Lord Maegor Towers had shared during the final days of his tragic life.
He had been extraordinarily sickly ever since the very moment he was born, bearing a fragile constitution that only worsened when he became the final surviving member of House Towers.
For a long while, Rhaena and Maegor had only been quiet friends residing in the sprawling ruins of the castle.
They were both profoundly alone in the world, sharing the exact same flavor of predicament and quiet misery.
Maegor was quite young, born just two years after her own twin daughters.
But then, merely a week before the untimely passing of Maegor, a sudden and compelling thought came rushing towards Rhaena.
“Do you want your noble line to continue?” Rhaena asked the innocent Maegor.
He was someone who never expected such a profound question, much less to hear it coming from a royal princess who was widely known as the fearsome rider of a great dragon.
“Of course I do. I do not want the precious memories of my family to disappear completely from the pages of our history books. I want my house to continue to thrive and, perhaps down the line, elevate our own status once again,” Maegor replied earnestly.
He then started venting his deepest frustrations about their house.
House Towers had been entrusted with the largest castle in the entire realm.
Along with it, the surrounding lands were extremely rich and fertile, but the gigantic castle itself was an undeniable curse.
It was simply too large and expensive for any house other than the Royal Family to properly hold and maintain.
Following that conversation, Rhaena and Maegor began sharing something far deeper than just a simple friendship.
They eventually developed a profound fondness for one another.
Rhaena willingly did all of the exhausting physical work during their intimate moments for Maegor, who had always been thoroughly depleted of energy by his illness.
Rhaena genuinely did not know what came over her at that specific time.
She had previously become furiously angry at her sister Alysanne on the mere premise of her remarrying and having another child, yet there she was, practically starving for affection and acting purely on her own desires.
Now, exactly nine moons later, which also marked exactly nine moons since Maegor had passed away from his illness, Rhaena is in agonizing labor with a child who is destined to become the true heir to the largest castle in the realm.
Reflecting upon the entire sequence of bizarre events that had just happened, Rhaena could not help but feel that some unseen force had been actively orchestrating her life.
It felt as though someone was writing a fictional story about events that were never truly supposed to happen in reality.
“I see the head, Princess. Please push for one last time!” Rhaena’s swirling thoughts were abruptly interrupted by the hurried and anxious voice of the attending maester.
Rhaena then suddenly felt the immense physical pain, which she had been too distracted by her own racing thoughts to fully register, come crashing down heavily upon her frail body.
When she pushed with all her remaining strength for the final time, she immediately felt a serene wave of relief wash completely over her exhausted body.
She slowly opened her heavy eyes and saw clearly that the maester was securely holding her newborn child in his hands.
“You have a son, Your Grace. You have a beautiful son,” the maester said with vibrant excitement echoing clearly in his voice.
Rhaena could not help but feel utterly ecstatic at this grand revelation.
She felt as though she had been truly blessed by the Mother Above.
The divine gods, who had seemed so remarkably cruel towards her when her beloved daughter Aerea had tragically died, had finally given her another golden chance to prove herself as a worthy mother.
‘I will do everything exactly right this time around.
I will make absolutely sure you grow up into the very best version of yourself.
Aelor.
That is going to be your name, my sweet Aelor Towers.’ These were the final hopeful thoughts of Princess Rhaena before she peacefully passed out from sheer exhaustion.
Meanwhile, the diligent maester and his loyal helpers were thoroughly cleaning the fresh blood from the birthing bed, while also gently washing the crying babe they were proudly holding.
[AELOR’S POV]
‘I cannot truly believe that I actually got reincarnated into the harsh world of A Song of Ice and Fire.
For the longest time, I simply thought that this entire experience was an elaborate prank or a lingering hallucination,’ I thought silently to myself as I stared intently at the peacefully sleeping figure of my new mother in this strange new world.
I was just a completely normal corporate worker in my past life.
Perhaps I was a little too much of an obsessive fan regarding the
A Song of Ice and Fire book series, but other than that specific hobby, I lived a rather peaceful and altogether boring life in the modern world.
Then, on one fateful day, I got hit directly by a speeding bus while I was casually walking home from work.
It is a rather gruesome detail of my past that I would much rather not relive or dwell upon.
But much to my genuine surprise, after my untimely demise, I did not see any pearly gates of heaven or a grand stairway leading to the afterlife.
Instead, I met a rather dark and empty environment, illuminated only by a glowing, ethereal presence that possessed a general human shape but lacked any discernible human facial features.
He called himself R.O.B., and he generously gave me a choice for a second chance at life.
When I politely asked for the exact specifics of this deal, I got the standard fantasy treatment of having to spin a massive roulette wheel to determine my would be world, as well as being fully allowed to customize my very own backstory.
When the ticking wheel finally landed on A Song of Ice and Fire, I became incredibly excited for a brief moment, right before I suddenly remembered the notoriously treacherous and deadly nature of this specific world.
I was then gently reminded by R.O.B.
that I would be allowed to manually create my own background, as well as having to spin the cosmic roulette wheel for another time to receive his own special cheat ability.
When I remembered this crucial detail, I began to pray fervently towards R.O.B.
to grant me great luck as I stepped up to spin the roulette wheel for my ultimate cheat.
The glowing wheel then showed me countless different kinds of phenomenal powers and abilities, like absolute immortality, accelerated healing, powerful telekinesis, and far more.
Then, it also showed me various essences that were available to take.
When the spin gradually slowed down, I saw that there were a lot of spectacular cheats that would be absolutely great for my would be new world.
I specifically kept my eye on the Mera Mera no Mi, as it would allow me to become completely in control over the element of fire.
But then, the needle slipped past it and landed squarely on the Essence of the Healer, a power which I was not entirely familiar with at the time.
“Woah, you landed on one of the grand essences. Congratulations for your outstanding luck. It seems that praying towards me actually gave you a great deal of fortune. If you are not familiar with it, do not worry at all. Once you drink this concoction, your mind will immediately integrate the full knowledge of this specific Essence,” R.O.B.
then said calmly.
A glowing glass vial suddenly appeared right in his hands, which thoroughly surprised me as he was clearly not holding anything just a moment earlier.
Not caring too much about the mysterious logistics of it, I eagerly drank the swirling contents of the vial.
The very first thing that popped into my head was that the strange liquid had the exact same chalky taste as Pepto Bismol.
But then, all the complex information regarding the Essence of the Healer was rapidly uploaded directly into my brain, which immediately allowed me to become infinitely happier and utterly content with my newly acquired cheat.
The sheer scope of its restorative powers was staggering.
After briefly thinking about my would be situation in Westeros, I cleverly created an original character background.
I decided that I would be born from Princess Rhaena Targaryen and Lord Maegor Towers.
This specific parentage would allow me to rightfully inherit Harrenhal.
Even if there is a notorious curse placed upon the ruined castle, with the immense passive help of my healing cheat, I would not be scared about it too much.
Additionally, it would allow me to possess the magical blood of dragon riders without technically being one of the core royal family members.
Since I genuinely do not really want to sit on the uncomfortable Iron Throne, having the vast lands of Harrenhal is already more than enough wealth and power for me.
After all of those decisions were finalized, R.O.B.
simply waved his glowing hands.
My vision then rapidly shifted from the cosmic wheel and the dark void directly into my current physical body of being a helpless newborn baby.
I became incredibly excited for the brand new life I was given.
Meanwhile, my healing cheat had already been slowly doing its wondrous work in the background, as it actively began to purify the massive territory of Harrenhal from its dark historical curse.
‘This is going to be incredibly fun,’ I thought cheerfully, as I clearly heard a massive dragon roar from a short distance away.
I could only assume the mighty beast to be Dreamfyre, my new mother’s bonded dragon, welcoming me into the world.
