Remember, someone had once offered ten million for this Thousand-Year-Old Ginseng.

But even for such a tempting price, Boss Su hadn’t sold it.

Zheng Yan ignored the shocked shop assistant and followed Su Han into the back of the shop.Full novel: Heaven-Defying Divine Doctor — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She took an exquisite wooden box out of a safe, placed it on the table, and opened it.

“Mr.

Zheng, take a look.

This is the Thousand-Year-Old Ginseng.”

Zheng Yan walked over to take a look and was inwardly astonished.

He could see Spiritual Power coalescing on the ginseng.

This thousand-year-old specimen was truly extraordinary.

Using it to refine medicinal pills would be incredibly effective.

“Are you sure you want to give this Thousand-Year-Old Ginseng to me?” Zheng Yan asked, looking at Su Han.

An item like this was a once-in-a-lifetime find, priceless and impossible to buy on the open market.

Even if you had all the money in the world, you might not be able to buy it.

Su Han was indeed reluctant to part with it.

This ginseng was the crown jewel of Huichun Hall.

‘But it’s worth it to save a life.’

“Mr.

Zheng, please, just take it.

Otherwise, my conscience won’t be clear.”

Zheng Yan stopped declining and put the ginseng away.

“By the way, I just realized I still don’t know your name.”

“You can just call me Su Han, Mr.

Zheng.”

“Su Han, if I wanted to buy the herbs from that list I showed you, where might I be able to find them?”

Su Han thought for a moment before replying, “Those ingredients are uncommon, but they can be found.

I’d suggest you try the Chinese Herbal Medicine Association.”

“Its members are all influential figures in Nanjiang City.

They have profound expertise in traditional Chinese medicine, so they should have what you need.”

‘The Chinese Herbal Medicine Association?’

Zheng Yan recalled Professor Tang asking him to attend one of the association’s seminars, but he had refused.

‘If I’d known I could buy herbs there, I would’ve agreed at the time.’

‘But it’s no use thinking about that now.

I don’t have Professor Tang’s contact information anyway.’

After thanking Su Han, Zheng Yan left the herb shop.

As he was walking down the street, Zheng Yan suddenly spotted a familiar figure.

A muscular young man in a designer t-shirt was walking down the street with his arms around two beautiful women.

Seeing the man, it looked as if flames would shoot from Zheng Yan’s eyes, and his hands clenched into fists without him realizing it.

This was the Jing Family’s youngest son, Jingpo Hai.

He was arrogant, domineering—a typical rich, spoiled heir.

Judging by his physique, he clearly worked out a lot.

Zheng Yan walked right past him, but Jingpo Hai didn’t even notice.

‘In truth, even if he had noticed me, he wouldn’t have recognized me.’

‘To someone like him, I’m just an insignificant pest.

How could he possibly remember me?’

“Darling, where are you taking us?” one of the beautiful women cooed.

“Somewhere fun, of course.”

“You’re so naughty.

You think we don’t know what you’re planning?”

“Sweetheart, I saw a handbag I liked…

It’s only a hundred thousand.

Isn’t that a bargain?”

“Whether it’s a ‘bargain’ or not depends on your performance later.”

Jingpo Hai said with a grin, pinching both of the women’s behinds.

They were firm and bouncy—a perfect handful.

The woman let out a soft gasp and playfully pounded Jingpo Hai’s chest with her delicate fists.

“You’re so mean, always bullying us.”

Zheng Yan glanced back at the trio, the corners of his lips twitching upward.

‘Killing Jingpo Hai right now would be easy, but I don’t want to do that just yet.’

‘I want the Jing Family to watch their own business empire crumble before their eyes.

But before that, there’s no harm in collecting a little interest.’

At that thought, he gave his wrist a slight flick, and two silver needles disappeared into Jingpo Hai’s body.

‘Consider it a gift.

I hope he and the two ladies have a wonderful time later.’

…

When Zheng Yan got home, he put the Thousand-Year-Old Ginseng away safely.

‘Now I just need to figure out how to get the other herbs.’

Just then, his phone began to ring.

Zheng Yan took it out and saw it was Lu Yan, the woman he’d met at the hill.

They had exchanged numbers so he could send a prescription to Fang Guosheng.

“Hello?”

“It’s me, Lu Yan.”

“I know.

What’s up?”

“Remember those herbs you asked us to prepare?

We’ve got them all ready.

When can you come over?”

Zheng Yan had originally scheduled it for three days from now.

By that timeline, he wasn’t supposed to go until tomorrow.

But since Zheng Yan didn’t have anything else to do, he said, “I’m free right now.”

Upon hearing that Zheng Yan was free, Lu Yan said excitedly, “Great!

Give me an address and I’ll come pick you up right now.”

Zheng Yan thought for a moment.

“Okay.

Come to the bus stop on Binhai Road.

I’ll wait for you there.”

“Okay, I’ll be there soon.”

With that, Lu Yan hastily hung up.

Zheng Yan shook his head with a wry smile.

‘That girl is so impatient.’

Zheng Yan got up and headed toward the bus stop.

The rush hour had long since passed, so the streets were nearly empty.

Zheng Yan sat on the bench, bored, playing on his phone while he waited.

Just then, a black BMW sports car sped past the bus stop.

It drove past, then suddenly reversed and came back.

Zheng Yan frowned as several people got out of the car.

Leading them were the last two people Zheng Yan wanted to see: Wang Jiaxin and Wu Fa.

Seeing them approach, Zheng Yan shook his head in resignation.

The few elderly people sitting next to him quickly got up and moved to sit elsewhere.

‘Looks like that young man is in for some trouble.’

The newcomers were clearly looking for trouble.

“Well, well, if it isn’t the Bai Family’s honored guest, Zheng Yan?

Have you fallen so low you have to take the bus now?” Wang Jiaxin said haughtily, clearly looking down on him.

Zheng Yan shot them a dismissive glance.

“What I ride is none of your business.

But let me remind you, your three-day deadline is almost up.

You only have one day left.

I wonder how that compensation money is coming along?”

Wu Fa sneered and pointed a finger in Zheng Yan’s face.

“Still trying to act tough?

Don’t think I don’t know about your so-called ‘relationship’ with the Bai Family.

I’ve had it all checked out.”

“Oh?

Then by all means, tell me.”

“You just got ridiculously lucky and happened to cure the Bai Family’s young lady.

You don’t actually think you can use them to climb the social ladder, do you?”

Wang Jiaxin looked down her nose at Zheng Yan and said snidely, “Someone like him?

What kind of connection could he have to the Bai Family?

If he really had connections, would he be stuck here waiting for a bus?”

“At the very least, he’d be able to afford a simple car for a hundred grand or so, wouldn’t he?”

“Exactly.

If saving someone’s life was enough to get in with the Bai Family, then wouldn’t every doctor in the hospital be set for life?”

The pair continued to bombard Zheng Yan with mockery and sarcasm.

“I never said I had any connection to the Bai Family.

I do wonder, though, who it was that was so scared they nearly pissed their pants last time, rushing to apologize to Bai Zhi,” Zheng Yan said, looking at Wu Fa with a smirk.

Wu Fa’s face turned livid.

Zheng Yan’s words had struck a nerve.
