Seeing Zheng Yiming, Song Ya couldn’t help but feel a little guilty. Back then, her lightning-type ability had been a copy of his. Even if she had only copied a third of it, the inherited lightning ability was still quite powerful—proof of how formidable his original powers must have been.

However, abilities only started awakening two years later after the volcanic eruption. For now, the ability she had copied was more than enough for self-defense.

Shaking herself from her thoughts, Song Ya forced a smile that wasn’t overly flattering. “I’m Song Ya, your roommate.”Full novel: Heavenly Calamity: I Hoarded Tens of Billions in Supplies for the Apocalypse — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“I know. I asked when I rented the place before,” Zheng Yiming said, studying her with a peculiar expression.

Song Ya scratched her head awkwardly. In Zheng Yiming’s memory, they might have only been apart for a few months, but from her perspective, eight whole years had passed since they last met.

“Uh… my memory isn’t that great,” she explained embarrassedly.

Fortunately, Zheng Yiming didn’t dwell on it and nodded calmly without saying more.

Perhaps because she had already paid, the workers moved swiftly. By the afternoon, they brought the security door and windows over.

After a whole afternoon of work, it was past 7 p.m. before they finished. Two master installers had done the work, while the rest, likely just laborers, left after moving everything.

Seeing the installation complete, Song Ya handed each installer 1,000 yuan with a friendly smile. “Thank you! The typhoon is coming soon, and I was mainly worried the windows wouldn’t hold.”

The typhoon had been reported online, and the masters had heard a bit about it. They reassured her, “Don’t worry, miss. This glass is so strong that even bullets couldn’t break it. But the typhoon is indeed coming, and it’s supposed to be quite strong.”

“Exactly, that’s why I was so eager to have you replace the windows,” Song Ya said, smiling, making all her actions appear perfectly normal.

The masters didn’t suspect anything. After all, the company had received many requests recently to replace windows in preparation for typhoons.

That evening, when Lin Nan Nan returned and saw their newly fortified apartment, she couldn’t help but laugh. “Song Ya, our place is basically a fortress now!”

“Yes, at least we won’t have trouble from the neighbors across the hall. Nan Nan, all the renovation noise today… why don’t we buy some things to send to the upstairs and downstairs neighbors as a little apology?” Song Ya suggested.

“Good idea. It’s the weekend; most people are probably home. We should make up for the disturbance,” Lin Nan Nan agreed.

The two went to a nearby supermarket, bought some eggs and fruit, bagged them, and delivered them to the neighbors as an apology. Most of the residents were polite and understanding, accepting the gifts and thanking them.

Song Ya went to a knife store. There were many knives, mostly kitchen knives. On the right side of the store, however, was a row of long swords, their blades still unsharpened, clearly decorative.

The shop owner greeted her enthusiastically. “Miss, are you looking for kitchen knives? Ours are forged from steel, handcrafted at high heat, and will last a lifetime…”

Song Ya cut him off, pointing at the long swords. “Do you sell these?”

The owner paused, following her gesture. “Ah, the long swords? They are a bit pricey.”

“No problem. I like this kind of thing. It caught my eye. Just give me a price,” Song Ya said straightforwardly.

The black blades, even unsharpened, gleamed ominously. Perfect… for cutting.

“The material cost is high. I only made two swords because of a personal fancy. If you really want it, I can let you have it for 100,000 yuan,” the owner said cautiously.

Song Ya nodded immediately. “Good. Please sharpen it for me. I’ll take it.”

The owner was speechless—he had underquoted—but the deal was made. Tearfully, he began sharpening the sword.

Because Song Ya was so decisive, the owner even included a sheath with a strap for slinging across her body—very dramatic but also practical for carrying.

After buying the sword, Song Ya went to a skate shop and picked up four skateboards. Then she drove back to pack all the prepared cooked meals into her storage space.

Song Ya visited her warehouse, moved all the cold-storage items into her space, and continued transferring goods batch by batch, leaving some outside temporarily.

Trucks delivered goods one after another. By tomorrow, all previously purchased items should be in the warehouse.

After finishing, she went straight to the electronics store, requesting all the phones and tablets. The owner thought she was joking.

Song Ya immediately transferred 1,000,000 yuan. The owner’s face lit up. “Alright! I’ll start installing them right away.”

Song Ya waved him off. “Please download all TV shows, movies, and novels onto these devices. I’ll pick them up tomorrow night.”

The owner asked curiously, “Miss, why so many shows and movies? There’s a typhoon coming, but this isn’t that extreme, is it?”

Song Ya smiled innocently. “It’s not for the typhoon. I made plans with friends to climb the Himalayas. I’m preparing early. Signal there is poor, so I’m bringing tablets and phones to keep occupied.”

If not for seeing her buy so many items, the owner would have thought she was crazy. She was going on an adventure and taking all these electronics with her instead of food and water.

“Alright, I’ll get everything downloaded. Come by tomorrow afternoon to pick it up,” the owner said politely, facing a big spender.

Song Ya agreed, then went upstairs to buy ten drones, twenty walkie-talkies, and twenty satellite phones.

When she returned home, Lin Nan Nan and Liu Haowen were already back, lounging on the sofa in a suggestive manner.

Seeing Song Ya, Lin Nan Nan sat up and held her phone. “Song Ya, the gym sent a notice. Vacation starts on 9.29. Earlier, I saw a message saying the typhoon would arrive on the 30th, in the early hours of National Day. They said it’s quite big.”

Song Ya nodded. “The wind should pick up tomorrow. Once vacation starts, we should buy supplies. Otherwise, we might go hungry when the typhoon hits.”

Lin Nan Nan didn’t worry much, pointing at the deliveries on the floor. “I stocked up on snacks during the National Day sale. Should be enough for a few days.”

Seems like everyone liked taking advantage of discounts to stock up. “Mine will probably arrive tomorrow,” Song Ya added.
