The next morning, Eiravyne was taken aback when Martha entered the room, her arms laden with various items.

The maid seemed unusually cheerful, a stark contrast to her typically reserved demeanor.

Martha placed the items on Eiravyne’s bed, then looked at her with a small smile.Full novel: His Crimson Obsession — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“The sorcerer asked me to bring these things,” Martha explained, her tone carrying a hint of excitement.

“I am to join you in the mansion’s tour.”

Eiravyne glanced at the assortment of objects on her bed—clothing, accessories, and what appeared to be make-up tools.

She looked back at Martha, curiosity and a touch of apprehension in her eyes.

“A tour of the mansion?” Eiravyne repeated, trying to make sense of this sudden change.

“Yes, my lady,” Martha confirmed.

“The duke wants you to familiarize yourself with your new home..”

Eiravyne nodded slowly, appreciating the gesture but still wary of the underlying intentions.

She knew the mansion held many secrets, and this tour might reveal some of them—whether she was ready for it or not.

“Very well,” she said, standing up and straightening her dress.

“Let’s begin.”

Martha carefully selected a dress from the items she had brought—a delicate gown in soft shades of blue that complemented Eiravyne’s features.

“Let’s get you ready for the tour,” Martha said warmly, helping Eiravyne into the dress.

Her hands moved deftly, adjusting the fabric and securing the laces with practiced ease.

Eiravyne stood still, feeling a mixture of discomfort and gratitude.

The dress was beautiful, and despite the unusual circumstances, she appreciated Martha’s efforts to make her feel presentable.

Next, Martha brought out a small box containing an array of makeup.

“Hold still,” she instructed gently, applying a light layer of foundation to Eiravyne’s face, followed by a touch of blush to bring out her natural complexion.

She worked quickly but meticulously, enhancing Eiravyne’s features with a subtle touch of eyeliner and a soft shade of lipstick.

Eiravyne watched Martha’s reflection in the mirror, her own face gradually transforming.

For a moment, she felt like a noble lady again, but even with that she couldn’t think of herself as beautiful.

“There,” Martha said, stepping back to admire her handiwork.

“You look beautiful, my lady.”

Eiravyne gave a small, appreciative smile.

“Thank you, Martha.”

Martha nodded, gathering the remaining items and placing them neatly to the side.

Eiravyne took a deep breath, steeling herself for whatever lay ahead.

“Yes, let’s go,” she said, following Martha out of the room.

Eiravyne couldn’t shake the feeling of confusion and unease.

Why had Ilkar suddenly allowed her to leave her confinement?

The question gnawed at her mind, adding a layer of tension to the already surreal morning.

“Martha,” Eiravyne began hesitantly, “why is Ilkar allowing me to leave my room today? It doesn’t make sense.”

Martha paused, looking thoughtful for a moment.

“I’m not entirely sure, my lady,” she admitted, her tone a bit more serious.

“The sorcerer Karl mentioned that it might help you adjust and feel more comfortable here. But as for Ilkar’s exact reasons… he can be unpredictable.”

Eiravyne nodded slowly, absorbing Martha’s words.

It made sense that Karl, with his seemingly genuine concern, might suggest such a thing.

But Ilkar’s motivations remained a mystery, shrouded in his usual aura of menace and control.

As they left the room, Eiravyne couldn’t help but glance at the bracelet on her wrist.

It served as a constant reminder of her monitored existence within the mansion.

The tour might offer her a semblance of freedom, but she knew she was far from being truly free.

Martha led Eiravyne through the grand corridors of the mansion, her steps confident and purposeful.

Eiravyne tried to take in her surroundings, noting the intricate tapestries and ornate furnishings that adorned the halls.

Despite the beauty, a sense of unease lingered in the air, amplified by her unanswered questions.

They passed through several rooms—each more opulent than the last.

The library, filled with ancient tomes and manuscripts; the grand dining hall, with its long table and glittering chandeliers; and the solarium, bathed in natural light from tall windows .

“These are some of the main areas you’ll need to know,” Martha explained as they walked.

“The Duke prefers things to be orderly, and it’s important that you understand the layout of the mansion.”

Eiravyne nodded, trying to focus on the tour and memorize the various locations.

But her mind kept drifting back to the reasons behind this sudden freedom.

Was Ilkar testing her?

Was this a prelude to something more sinister?

As they approached a secluded courtyard, Eiravyne finally gathered the courage to voice her concerns.

Martha paused, looking at Eiravyne with a mixture of empathy and caution.

“Lady Eiravyne, I think you should try to take this opportunity to learn and adapt.”

Eiravyne sighed, she knew that Martha was not going to talk anytime soon.

They continued the tour, moving through the courtyard and into another wing of the mansion.

As they walked, Eiravyne couldn’t help but notice a few servants casting curious glances in her direction.

It was clear that her presence was unusual, and she wondered how much they knew about her and her situation.

Eventually, they reached a small, cozy sitting room.

Martha gestured for Eiravyne to take a seat.

“This is one of the Duke’s favorite spots,” Martha said with a smile.

“It’s a good place to relax and gather your thoughts.”

Eiravyne nodded, her resolve hardening.

“Thank you, Martha. I’ll do my best.”

After a while and as they made their way back to her room, Martha suddenly stopped and turned to Eiravyne, her expression serious.

“Lady Eiravyne,” she began, “there is one place in this mansion that you are not allowed to visit under any circumstances.”

Eiravyne’s curiosity piqued, and she raised an eyebrow.

“And where is that?”

“Ilkar’s room,” Martha replied firmly.

“The Duke’s chambers are strictly off-limits. No one is permitted to enter without his explicit permission. It is for your safety and to avoid any further complications.”

Eiravyne nodded, understanding the gravity of Martha’s warning.

The very thought of Ilkar’s personal space sent a shiver down her spine.

“I understand. I have no intention of going anywhere near his room.”

Martha’s stern expression softened slightly.

“Good. Remember, Lady Eiravyne, your safety is of utmost importance. If you need anything or have any questions, you can always come to me.”

Eiravyne managed a small smile.

“Thank you, Martha. I appreciate your guidance.”

As Martha finished her warning and they reached Eiravyne’s room, a sudden blur of movement caught Eiravyne’s eye.

A child, no more than six or seven years old, darted through the corridor just outside her door, laughing gleefully as he ran past.

Eiravyne blinked in surprise, her curiosity piqued.

“Martha, who was that?” she asked, stepping slightly out of her room to get a better look.

Martha’s eyes widened momentarily in shock.
