The Marianne Orphanage where Blake lived was located on the outskirts of London.
Yet Dumbledore still chose to take Hermione home first.
Because of this, Blake had originally assumed that Dumbledore must have something else he intended to discuss with him privately.
However, the truth was somewhat different from what he expected.
Throughout the journey, Dumbledore only told them a few amusing stories about the wizarding world and didn’t continue discussing Grindelwald or Blake’s background.
By the time they approached the orphanage, the sky had already begun to darken.
From a distance, Blake could see Mrs.
Marianne standing at the entrance, anxiously talking to a police officer.
“Looks like you’ve come home rather late, and the people who care about you have become very worried.”
Dumbledore spoke softly.
“Oh… Mrs. Marianne is being way too nervous. I’m not a little kid who needs to be looked after every second anymore. Isn’t it normal to come home a little late sometimes?”
Blake helplessly raised a hand to his forehead.
He hadn’t expected that simply being gone for an entire day would cause Mrs.
Marianne to actually call the police.
“You can’t look at it that way, my boy.”
“Having someone in this world who genuinely cares about you and worries about your safety is something worth cherishing in itself.”
“All right, I’ll leave you here.”
“If I go any closer, that Muggle police officer might mistake me for some strange old man who kidnapped you.”
Dumbledore said with a smile.
Blake smiled as well after hearing that.
“Professor, you haven’t forgotten what you promised me just now, have you?”
“When I do, I’ll tell you what I’ve found.”
“Now hurry home. Don’t make that kind woman worry any longer.”
“And there’s one more thing. For now, don’t tell anyone else that your surname is Grindelwald, all right?”
Blake nodded seriously before turning around and walking toward the entrance of the orphanage.
When he turned around again to look, Dumbledore had already disappeared from where he had been standing.
Blake could roughly guess what Dumbledore meant by confirming something.
There was a very high chance that he would go to Nurmengard and personally ask that man for the truth.
After all, if a descendant of Grindelwald had suddenly appeared, it was impossible for Grindelwald himself to know nothing about it.
Blake also very much hoped that Dumbledore would go and meet him.
Because he was equally desperate to discover what secrets were hidden behind his true origins.
“Oh! Blake! Do you know how worried I was just now?!”
Mrs.
Marianne’s anxious and angry voice instantly interrupted Blake’s thoughts.
“Ding! Congratulations, Host. You have obtained a Bronze Chest!”
Even a system reward had appeared directly.
It seemed that Mrs.
Marianne really had been furious this time.
Blake could only walk over with a bitter smile and obediently endure Mrs.
Marianne’s scolding and inspection.
…
Hogwarts.
Inside a tower that few people usually paid attention to.
Dumbledore pushed open a very old door and hurried inside. You are reading on g.com, the official source.
Beyond the door was a small room.
At the center of the room stood a single table.
Resting quietly on the tabletop was a thick book with a pitch-black cover.
Beside the book.
A small silver inkwell sat on the table, with a slender, faded quill inserted diagonally into its opening.
These were the Book of Admittance and the Quill of Acceptance, responsible for selecting new Hogwarts students.
Once these two magical objects made their judgment, no one could alter it.
To this day, there had never been a child whose name wasn’t recorded in the Book of Admittance yet still received an admission letter from Hogwarts.
Because of this, Dumbledore was certain that Blake’s name must be hidden somewhere among those yellowed pages.
The moment he approached the table, the thick Black book rose into the air on its own.
Its cover, made from dragon hide, slowly opened, revealing page after page of yellowed parchment.
Dumbledore was just about to search for Blake’s record when the Quill of Acceptance, which had remained completely still beside the inkwell, suddenly left it and gently floated toward the Book of Admittance.
At the same time, the pages began turning backward on their own, as though responding to some kind of command.
What happened next immediately caused Dumbledore’s expression to become serious.
The Quill of Acceptance stopped on a certain page and added several letters after a name whose ink had already grown old.
When the quill moved away, the completed name was clearly displayed on the parchment.
“Blake Grindelwald!”
Dumbledore’s brows furrowed tightly.
Someone had once used magic to conceal Blake’s true surname, and the spell had been powerful enough to deceive even the Book of Admittance and the Quill of Acceptance.
