“What?!”
Professor McGonagall stood up in a daze, as though she simply could not believe what she had just heard.
This black-haired, black-eyed Asian boy was actually Merlin!
It had to be known that Merlin was the supreme master of all mages.
Although he existed only in the proverbs of wizards and in the tales of Beedle the Bard, no wizard had ever seen him in person.
There was not even a portrait of him.
Such explosive news threw the entire teaching staff into chaos.
Professor Snape shifted his gaze away from Harry’s green eyes and onto Anton.
Merlin’s Aura.
That was the kind of evaluation this master of the Dark Arts had dreamed of receiving.
How could it possibly appear on a boy?
A silent spell to test magical power was quietly cast.
But before the spell could even approach the air surrounding the boy, it instantly dissipated into nothingness.
Snape’s face turned ashen.
How could this be?
He prided himself on his astonishing magical power, while his Legilimency was at a master level.
Apart from a handful of people, there was practically no one capable of evading his spells.
Yet now, his spell seemed to have simply lost all its power and had been effortlessly blocked by this boy.
The boy had not even noticed it!
Snape raised his wand, intending to personally question the boy.
But a large hand pressed it back down.
“Severus, some tests only need to be performed once.”
Snape hurriedly said, “But, Headmaster, this child’s magical power…”
McGonagall quickly asked Dumbledore, “Headmaster? What… exactly is going on?”
Dumbledore adjusted his glasses, his mind surging with thoughts.
If Harry’s enrollment today was a surprise he had arranged long ago, then the new student Anton from abroad was another great gift bestowed by fate.
Without making a move or showing any trace of a spell being cast, he had effortlessly blocked Snape’s Legilimency.
Even if he was not Merlin reincarnated, he was still a once-in-a-millennium genius!
And geniuses had to be treated with even greater caution.
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Dumbledore walked up to Anton.
He carefully examined this extraordinary young man.
The boy had black hair and black eyes, handsome features, and a distinctly mysterious air about him.
He looked nothing like the Merlin from history.
Yet that absolute confidence, the feeling that he could grasp everything in his hands, was exactly the same as that of the great wizards Dumbledore had encountered.
He did not use Legilimency.
Instead, he bent down and spoke in the gentlest voice he could muster.
“Child, are you willing to tell me everything in detail?”
Before Anton could say anything, the Sorting Hat once again began shouting.
“Apologies, apologies. Even an old hat can have a moment of poor judgment.”
“This boy is not Merlin, but his magical power is truly extraordinary!”
Hearing this, everyone at Hogwarts breathed a huge sigh of relief.
If this boy really were Merlin, forget about enrolling at Hogwarts.
They might even have to replace the Minister of Magic.
Although they now knew Anton was not Merlin, everyone’s curiosity did not diminish in the slightest.
After all, no one in hundreds of centuries had ever received such an evaluation from the Sorting Hat.
Where had this boy learned such powerful magic?
The Sorting Hat continued to shout:
“You must understand, I have seen many extraordinary wizards. Many, many of them.”
“Men and women.”
“Some went on to have names that became forbidden to speak.”
“Others left their names forever in textbooks.”
“But I have never seen a genius like you.”
“Anton, your magical talent is enough to make Salazar Slytherin pale in comparison!”
“Just what happened in your past?”
Seeing the Sorting Hat ask this question, Anton shook his head.
To be honest, apart from most of his magical knowledge, he knew practically nothing about his own past.
Other than that little bit of information, he knew nothing else.
“I don’t know.”
The Sorting Hat let out a sigh.
Just then, the air began to ripple slightly, like splashing water.
It was as though something was crossing over from another world.
Such a sudden change caused all the mages to rise to their feet.
The teachers of the various houses quickly drew their wands.
They aimed them at the object in the air.
Snape asked in surprise, “What kind of spell is this?”
“Strange. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
“Did the goblins come up with some new invention?”
Dumbledore stepped forward and shielded Anton behind him.
“Minerva, Severus, protect the students of our respective houses.”
“There have been far too many strange occurrences today.”
Within the enormous void, the ripples continued to surge.
A black object resembling a screen emerged from the void.
Several lines of text appeared on the screen.
[The subject for exposure has been successfully selected!]
[Target selected: Anton!]
[Revealing Previous-Life Identity: Phase One]
[Decoding the world in which the target resides. Understanding the exposed subject. Unknown error detected…]
[Attempting analysis. Unable to analyze…]
The enormous screen appeared in the sky above the magical world, and wizards throughout the entire magical world erupted in an uproar.
While no one was watching.
The Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Quirrell, hurriedly fled the hall.
