The schedules for Ravenclaw and Gryffindor were slightly different.
Mord’s first class of the day was Charms, while Hermione headed to Professor McGonagall’s Transfiguration lesson.
After leaving the Great Hall, the two went their separate ways.
Hermione made her way to the first-floor Transfiguration classroom, while Mord headed toward the fourth-floor Charms classroom.
The moving staircases of Hogwarts were every bit as troublesome as the stories claimed.
After climbing only one flight, the staircase suddenly shifted to another destination.
Fortunately, Mord had left early.
Even after wasting more than ten minutes navigating the castle, he still arrived before class began.
The moment he opened the classroom door, he noticed dark clouds rolling across the ceiling.
Several students had already arrived and were staring upward in fascination.
Snowflakes and light raindrops drifted gently through the room, disappearing the instant they touched the students.
When a few flakes landed on Mord, he felt only a slight chill.
His robes remained perfectly dry.
“Welcome, Mr. Black. Please find a seat.”
A cheerful, high-pitched voice came from the front of the classroom.
Professor Flitwick smiled warmly.
The Head of Ravenclaw House was a half-goblin and stood only about as tall as Mord’s waist.
To reach the top of his desk, he sat on an enormous stack of books placed on a sturdy wooden chair.
Mord respectfully inclined his head.
“Good morning, Professor Flitwick.”
“If I’m not mistaken, that’s an Atmospheric Charm, isn’t it? It’s truly remarkable magic.”
Despite his small stature, Flitwick was one of the greatest Charms Masters in Britain.
The Atmospheric Charm wasn’t a simple spell.
It could recreate weather phenomena such as rain, snow, and even thunderstorms within a limited area.
It was highly advanced magic that ordinary witches and wizards could only dream of mastering.
Mord immediately understood why Flitwick had prepared it.
Just as Professor McGonagall had transformed into a cat during the welcoming ceremony, Flitwick wanted to impress his new students from the very beginning.
Professor Flitwick’s eyes brightened.
“Oh!”
“Mr. Black, it seems you’ve studied quite diligently before coming to Hogwarts.”
“For your excellent observation…”
“Ravenclaw earns ten points!”
Nothing was more disappointing than demonstrating something extraordinary only for no one to recognize it.
Flitwick had arrived early specifically to prepare the Atmospheric Charm.
Fortunately, someone had noticed.
The rest of the class immediately sat up straighter.
Clearly, there was far more to the floating weather than they had first assumed.
Just then, the bell rang.
Charms class officially began.
Professor Flitwick raised his wand.
“Charms is one of the most important subjects a witch or wizard can study.”
“While it may not rival Transfiguration in complexity, many students still find it surprisingly difficult.”
“If you cannot master Charms, you cannot truly call yourself a competent wizard.”
Mord listened attentively.
He completely agreed.
After explaining the importance of Charms, Professor Flitwick smiled.
“We’ll save the advanced spells for later.”
“Today…”
“Lumos.”
Mord had already mastered the spell long ago.
Still, he listened just as carefully as everyone else.
This was Professor Flitwick.
One of the greatest Charms experts alive.
Ignoring his lessons simply because Mord already knew the spell would have been foolish.
Sure enough, Flitwick explained Lumos in far greater depth than any textbook.
He discussed magical flow, wand control, pronunciation, and several common mistakes made by beginners.
Whenever Mord heard something new, he carefully wrote it into his notebook.
By the end of the explanation, he felt that his understanding of Lumos had improved considerably.
Perhaps the spell itself had already advanced another level.
The Sorting Hat had not made a mistake.
Although Mord had insisted on joining Ravenclaw, he truly did possess Ravenclaw’s greatest quality—
A genuine respect for knowledge.
Professor Flitwick clapped his hands.
“Very well.”
“Now it’s your turn.”
“Begin practicing.”
Students throughout the classroom immediately drew their wands.
Nearby, Terry Boot scratched his head helplessly, clearly unsure where to begin.
A boy sitting beside Mord smiled confidently.
“I don’t think this spell is difficult at all.”
Mord turned toward him.
It was another Ravenclaw first-year.
Michael Corner.
If Mord remembered correctly, Michael would eventually date both Ginny Weasley and Cho Chang.
He was reasonably handsome, though his shoulder-length black hair gave him an overly dramatic appearance.
Mord smiled politely.
“It’s a fairly straightforward beginner’s spell.”
Michael looked at him with a hint of challenge.
“Oh?”
“So you’ve already learned it?”
Apparently, he hadn’t noticed Mord using Lumos on the first night.
Mord calmly replied,
“Maybe.”
“What about you?”
Michael smiled proudly.
“I practiced before enrolling.”
“Of course I know it.”
He drew his wand confidently.
“Lumos!”
A faint white glow appeared at the tip of his wand.
It flickered weakly before disappearing a moment later.
Professor Flitwick noticed from the front of the classroom.
He nodded slightly.
Although the spell wasn’t yet stable, it was still respectable for a first attempt.
“If you want, I could teach you.”
He deliberately glanced sideways at Mord.
Mord almost laughed.
So that’s what this was about.
Apparently Michael had developed a crush on Cho Chang after the welcome feast.
Seeing Cho pay so much attention to Mord had made him feel competitive.
Mord calmly drew his distinctive yew wand.
Several nearby students immediately turned to look at it with curiosity.
“Lumos.”
Brilliant white light burst from the tip of his wand.
The classroom seemed to brighten instantly.
Even in broad daylight, the spell shone with astonishing brilliance.
Professor Flitwick nearly jumped with excitement.
Standing atop his stack of books, he exclaimed,
“Excellent!”
“A flawless Lumos!”
“Ravenclaw earns another ten points!”
The classroom erupted into astonished murmurs.
The system chimed repeatedly.

Mord stood and gave Professor Flitwick a polite bow.
“Thank you, Professor.”
After sitting back down, he turned toward Michael with a faint smile.
“Would you like me to teach you?”
Michael’s face immediately turned bright red.
He forced an awkward smile.
“N-No thanks.”
Mord simply nodded and turned away.
He had no idea why Michael had tried to challenge him on the very first day of class.
But if someone insisted on showing off in front of him…
He had no intention of waiting until tomorrow to respond.
The system chimed again.
[Ding!]
The future Demon King has thoroughly humbled a challenger, establishing his authority.

Terry Boot stared at Mord with shining eyes.
“Merlin’s beard, Mord!”
“That was incredible!”
“Please teach me!”
Mord smiled warmly.
“Of course.”
He had just opened his mouth to begin explaining when a lively girl’s voice spoke from behind him.
“Um…”
“Would you mind teaching us too?”
