3 Change of plans

Hollywood 1994

The film he had chosen was called "The Election Night". It was a Norwegian film that won the Oscars. It was a 10-minute short film that had a lot of reputation in the industry. His original intention was to use this film to make a name for himself and get into the film circle, but it looked like no one was going to hold his hand and walk him inside.

In that case, he had no choice but to force his way in.

Ajay got on the bus and began to think about what the film would need.

He didn't know much about the equipment, but in terms of actors, it would only need around ten people. They didn't need to have amazing acting skills either. They just needed to know how to deliver their lines naturally with expressionless faces. If they showed emotions, that would be a plus, but it wasn't a big deal. The entire film was actually based on the setting and the environment surrounding it.

He would need a single actor who could act well, and for this, he thought of setting up an audition.

"If there is a screen actors' guild or an actors' guild, I can post an audition notice," he thought to himself and felt it was feasible.

Apart from the actors, there wasn't really anything else. He needed a few cars, which he could probably rent, and a bar.

He had worked in a bar once. If he pleaded with the boss, he could probably get him to lend him the bar when it was free.

Everything was adding up in his mind, but the most important thing left him stumped: the money.

Make no mistake, he had saved up some money himself, around $2,000 to $2,500, but this was for his living. He couldn't use this to invest in a film. Even if he wanted to use the money, it was not enough.

He did not know how much renting camera equipment and the other things would cost, but he was definitely sure that it was well over $30,000. He definitely didn't have that sort of money, even if he included the compensation he got on behalf of his mother.

"Damn it, what do I do?"

He thought to himself and cursed.

"If there was YouTube, I could have sung a song from the future and made some money off of that," he muttered regretfully, but then an idea suddenly hit him.

"Should I try selling a song?"

He felt like it was more feasible because the singers were more approachable, because singers usually perform in various high-end clubs, all he had to do was to be on the lookout for a club that was inviting a singer to perform.

The first thing he did after getting home was to select a song that did quite well in the pop scene in his mind and write it down on a piece of paper along with the musical notation.

Various churches in the area, or maybe in America as a whole, he wasn't completely sure, had a weird fetish for making orphan kids sing in the choir, so since he was treated as a mascot for the orphanage, he was grouped together with the choir guys. After some years of listening to the choir again and again, it somehow got embedded into his mind. And in the last two years, he did say "what the heck" one day and started learning sheet music and mastered it by the time he was 18.

Picking up the sheet music, he checked out the magazines and other newspapers to see if a club was advertising about inviting a singer or something.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

Luckily, he found one in the close vicinity called the Orange Town Club, and coincidentally, the singer was quite compatible with the song he had written as well.

Wearing his best suit, he immediately set off to the club. But just when he was about to enter, he was pushed away by the bouncer. "Registered personnel only. Have you registered?"

Ajay's heart sank. He did suspect that something like this would happen because the advertisement did mention a cost, but with a fluke mentality, he came anyway. 'Should I look for some other club?' he thought to himself, but unwilling to give up, he decided to wait and see.

Several hours passed, and he noticed a luxuriously dressed young man get down from a limousine, wearing a rich fur coat, as he stepped into the club with a couple of men.

He immediately wanted to rush forward and tell him what he wanted to say, but he stopped himself and waited. Maybe he would get a chance when the guy was done performing.

However, just then he noticed something. The car was not parked in the usual place where all the other cars were parked, but was taken to the back of the club.

Ajay understood that the guy would not be coming through the front door again.

He got up and immediately ran into the alleyway to see if there was a way to the back of the club. Unfortunately, he realised that it was walled off. He saw through the gaps in the wall that the cars were right there.

He bit his nails and walked around anxiously because people were already screaming within the club. That means the guy started performing, and since this guy only had a few songs, he wouldn't perform for long. That also means he didn't have a lot of time to catch him either.

He looked around and noticed that a car was parked very close to the wall. His heart began to beat loudly, but hearing the sound of the people cheering and then looking at the car, he chose to take the risk.

He ran forward at full speed and immediately jumped onto the car's trunk, subsequently running to its roof, carefully avoiding the windshield, and jumped onto the wall that was maybe twelve feet tall.

"Guh!"

He could not hold on to the wall properly, and his stomach ended up hitting the top part of the wall, knocking the air out of his lungs.

He groaned in pain, but fortunately, he did not hit his chest, or else he was sure that a few ribs would have been broken.

Managing the pain, he pulled himself up and dropped down.

"bam"

A loud sound was produced when his feet hit the ground, but the voice of the speakers had already drowned out the sound he made.

He was lucky because a few minutes later, the bodyguard started to clear out the way from within the club, and the guy with the fur coat emerged from within.

Ajay knew that this was his chance, so without hesitation, while gritting his teeth, he ran forward.

The bodyguards were startled and immediately pulled out their guns.

Ajay's face turned white, and he immediately screamed, "No, I'm unarmed. I'm a songwriter. I just want to hand over a song to Lil Tjay."

Lil Tjay was also startled, but after hearing him scream, his expression turned into one of fury.

"Mother fucker, you son of a bitch."

Ajay was hit right in the head by the bodyguard, and he was almost knocked unconscious. The only reason he was not was that another bodyguard came forward and kicked him in the thigh, sending him stumbling backwards, which woke him up.

Lil Tjay came forward and looked at him with disgust.

"Don't you ever do that again, or else you'll be dead."

Ajay breathed heavily and pushed himself up with great difficulty.

"Tjay, I wrote a song especially for you. It's a very good song. You'll like it. Would you please take a look?"

Tjay seemed to have calmed down and looked at the kid before him with a hint of surprise. "Yo, this mother fucker is crazy."

"Are you for real, motherfucker?"

"Ah, yes."

"Yo, yo, yo." Tjay couldn't really believe that someone would go to such lengths to actually show him the song he had written.

"You hear this shit, Bryce?"

"Should I throw him out?" Bryce, the bodyguard, asked.

"Nah, man! I ain't never seen shit like this in all my life. Besides, you're a brother, ain't ya?" Ajay nodded. "Then let's see what you're up to."

Ajay was overjoyed, but when he reached his hand into his pocket to take out the lyrics, they were nowhere to be seen. He was immediately flustered. 'Damn it! It should have fallen on the other side of the wall when I jumped,' he cursed at himself, but he got his chance. He could not miss it.

Lil Tjay was looking at Ajay, wondering why the guy had not taken out the lyrics yet, but to his surprise, the motherfucker began to sing.

"Hey Juice, can we go to the thrift shop?"

"What? What? What? What?"

"What? What? What? What?"

"What? What? What? What?"

"Oh!"

"Oh."

"Ow."

"I'm gonna pop some tags, only got $20 in my pocket, and I'm hungry, looking for a come up. This is fucking awesome."
