To prevent any future retaliation from his opponent.
Blast Vision had to die!
Even though he had never killed anyone before this, he’d read plenty of novels.
When you cut the weeds, you must pull out the roots—otherwise you’d be failing both yourself and the people around you.
And the instant Alex finished speaking.
Two blinding crimson lasers erupted from his eyes, striking straight into Blast Vision’s chest!
“Aaaaagh!!!!”
The moment the lasers landed, they suddenly exploded.
The finger-thick beams abruptly spread wide!
They transformed into terrifying pillars of light as thick as fists, engulfing Blast Vision’s entire chest!
Faced with such terrifying power, Blast Vision had no way out.
His whole body was locked down tightly by Alex—he couldn’t break free at all, and could only endure, head-on, this full-power laser blast enhanced by the original compound!
The clothes on Blast Vision’s body turned to ash the instant they touched the lasers.
Then the lasers fell upon his bare chest!
His powerful physique allowed Blast Vision to fear no impact, to fear no firearm.
Against physical attacks, his defenses were maxed out.
But this time.
In Alex’s eyes, his defense seemed incomparably fragile.
So fragile, in fact, that it couldn’t withstand a single blow!
In just a short moment, the flesh of his chest swiftly turned charred black, then carbonized, until it finally tore through the flesh and blood, penetrating deep into the interior of his chest, ultimately punching clean through and shooting out the other side, blasting off into the boundless sky.
“Wooom!!!!”
The crimson lasers pierced through the heavens.
Before this power, Blast Vision was like a tender child, without the slightest strength to resist.
No one knew how much time had passed.
The crimson lasers gradually faded, and Alex’s eyes returned to their former clarity.
As for Blast Vision, still clutched tightly in his grip, half of his body had now turned into charcoal.
He had long been dead—as dead as could be.
Looking at the charred black corpse before him, Alex didn’t feel the kind of nausea he had imagined.
Perhaps it was because of the lasers.
There was no blood, no gory scene.
Blast Vision, reduced to charcoal, instead looked just like a prop used in a movie shoot—nothing all that frightening.
“Sleep well.”
As Alex said this, he casually tossed Blast Vision’s body into the sea below his feet.
Having done all this, Alex gazed at the boundless sky overhead, his heart filled with deep exhilaration and freedom.
A thought stirred in his mind, and his figure abruptly vanished into the sky.
Immediately after, rings upon rings of white ripples burst rapidly across the sky, rolling sound waves spreading out like thunder.
A long while passed.
Alex’s figure appeared once again in the skies above these waters.
He looked down at his own palm, clenched his fist hard, and then burst into laughter.
“Hahahahahaha!”
“I knew it—the plot of Season Five was a total piece of crap!”
Before obtaining the original compound, Alex had still been wondering just how much of a boost this enhancement would actually give.
After all, the showing in the original work had been a little too pathetic.
Before taking the original compound, Homelander hadn’t even been able to pin him down in a three-on-one, letting him fire off a chest-cannon blast.
Yet in Season Five, Butcher and Ryan alone had pinned him down so he couldn’t move, and in the end his power was erased by Kimiko’s chest-cannon.
So at the very beginning, what Alex was mainly after was immortality and immunity to the threat of the virus.
As for boosting his strength and the like, that was purely a bonus—take it or leave it.
But now, after carefully experiencing it for himself, all Alex could say was that the production team was a bunch of idiots.
According to the testing he’d just done.
Whether it was the lasers or his flight speed and so on.
Everything had received an enormous boost—compared to yesterday’s tests, it was nearly a tenfold increase.
Back when he’d watched The Boys, Alex had been curious about how Homelander’s strength compared to Superman’s, and had even gone out of his way to look up the data.
Without injecting the original compound, Homelander’s normal strength was around eighty tons, with his peak strength somewhere between a hundred and twenty and a hundred and fifty tons.
The explosive force of his punches was in the range of three hundred to four hundred tons.
His speed was Mach three to five.
And now.
All of that was completely different—a tenfold boost was enough to make him the Superman among superheroes.
Even facing his former self, Alex had full confidence and certainty that he could easily settle the matter in an extremely short time.
After all, in terms of speed alone, the two sides were already on entirely different levels.
As long as Alex was willing, he could make his former self unable to so much as touch him.
The strength brought by a tenfold increase was absolutely far beyond imagination.
“From now on, I finally have the right to truly stop eating beef.”
“There’s no longer anyone in this world who can restrain me!”
Alex was filled with joy.
The way he was now, even Soldier Boy’s chest-cannon was no threat.
After all, even to erase a superpower, you first have to land a hit, don’t you?
In the time it took Soldier Boy to charge up, he’d already have had enough chances to get behind him and kill him countless times over.
And even if he wanted to flee—with a starting speed of Mach thirty, how could Soldier Boy, who couldn’t even outrun a bicycle, possibly keep up with him?
“Next, it’s time to head back and have a proper showdown with the Vought Corporation.”
The Vought Corporation used heroes as tools to rake in money, and he was going to change all of that.
He would make superheroes into true heroes, striking down all crime, earning him vast amounts of Hero Points, and then advancing his strength a step further!
“How about—I’ll just call it the Hero Association.”
An idea had already taken shape in Alex’s mind.
Having dealt with Blast Vision, Alex was in no rush to return to the company.
Instead, he pulled out his phone and called Queen Maeve.
“Where are you right now?”
“At the hotel.”
“You’ve already achieved your goal?”
Queen Maeve, watching the report that had already begun airing in the room—stating that during the time the signal was lost, Homelander had already dealt with the criminal and rescued the trapped hero Golden Geisha—asked with a frown.
“Yes.”
“I’ll arrange for someone else to take her back—although, if you don’t mind, we could go and do it ourselves right now.”
“Besides, there are some important matters I’d like to talk to you about.”
“I already told you.”
Queen Maeve drew a deep breath, her tone a little impatient.
“I don’t want to help you with anything anymore…”
“You know that you have no way to refuse me, if I insist on it.”
“But I don’t intend to do that—doesn’t that already demonstrate my sincerity?”
“At the very least, compared to before, I think you should understand quite clearly.”
Alex said this lightly, but those few short sentences left Queen Maeve at a loss for words.
Because as Homelander’s ex-girlfriend, she understood very well that there was nothing wrong with what he’d said.
