“Hahahahaha!
Hahahahaha!”
“I can’t…
Old Yang is seriously gonna kill me with laughter!
This is way too hilarious!”
Seated upon her majestic throne, Sirin practically doubled over laughing after hearing the dialogue between Welt and Cecilia.
How in the world could this Welt guy be so delusional?
While Sirin was laughing her head off, the Queen’s Imperial Guard standing by her side were filled with indignation.
How dare that mortal slander their glorious Queen like that!
“Theresa, change of plans.
Since Welt is such a master of headcanons, we might as well use it to our advantage!” Sirin contacted Theresa and her group.
“Understood, my Queen!”
Originally, Sirin’s plan was to wait for Bella to hatch, then use Theresa as bait to lure Cecilia into rescuing the rest of the Snow Wolf Squad, effectively separating Welt and Cecilia so they could be defeated one by one.
However, the main flaw in that plan was whether Theresa could successfully fool Cecilia.
If she couldn’t, Theresa and the others would have no choice but to engage Cecilia directly, while Bella handled Welt.
But Sirin never expected Welt to lay out such an elaborate theory all on his own.
Now, catching Cecilia would be infinitely easier.
Before long, Welt and Cecilia reached the main entrance of Babylon Labs.
“The doors haven’t been opened in a long time.”
Welt inspected the entrance.
The main gates of Babylon Labs showed no signs of recent use.
“Where did the researchers here go?
Were they killed by the Second Herrscher’s Herrscher persona?”
Stepping into the main lobby of Babylon Labs, Cecilia scanned her surroundings.
There were no traces left behind, just a thin layer of dust covering everything, proving no one had left through the front doors for quite some time.
“That’s definitely a possibility.” Welt nodded.
He didn’t expect the Second Herrscher to be completely innocent of bloodshed; ordinary humans were fragile, after all.
Even if her human persona wanted to save them, it wouldn’t have been easy.
“Let’s keep moving up…
Hm?”
Before Welt could finish his sentence, he suddenly sensed a powerful flare of Honkai energy appear out of nowhere, only to vanish just as abruptly a second later.
He glanced at Cecilia, exchanging a knowing look.
“That must be the Second Herrscher!”
“Yeah, let’s check it out!”
The two quickly rushed to the central elevator hub in the lobby.
As the elevator descended, they noticed bloodstains on the floor inside, along with a pushcart used for transporting cargo.
“Could it be Theresa and the others?” Cecilia wondered aloud.
“It’s a shame their comms equipment was left out in the Siberian snowfields, leaving us with no way to contact them.”
Saying this, Cecilia couldn’t help but worry about their injuries, especially the members of the Snow Wolf Squad.
“It should be Theresa,” Welt remarked after inspecting the marks inside the elevator, pointing out a set of tiny footprints.
“Let’s head to the central control room first. Find the original chapter at g.com.
We might be able to pinpoint their location using the main computer.”
“Got it.”
The two immediately activated the elevator, ascending toward the upper levels of Babylon Labs.
While inside, they felt the flickers of that Herrscher-like Honkai energy signature appear and disappear several more times.
Moments later, Welt and Cecilia stepped out into the central control center.
Exiting the elevator, they found the room in disarray, though there were no corpses or bloodstains in sight.
The fate of the facility’s researchers remained a complete mystery.
“It’s Theresa and the team!”
Spotting the surveillance feed on the main terminal from afar, Cecilia rushed over with a surge of relief.
“Theresa’s team is on the 20th floor.
Looks like she’s taking care of the others.” Through the monitor, Cecilia could see Theresa walking with unsteady, shaky steps, clearly not yet recovered from her severe injuries.
However, Theresa was the only one capable of standing on her feet.
In the video feed, the members of the Snow Wolf Squad lay on hospital beds, talking to Theresa with expressions full of guilt while Theresa personally fed them.
“Let’s go find them—” Before Cecilia could finish, a tremendous surge of Honkai energy suddenly detonated in the air around them!
A silver-haired, crimson-eyed girl materialized out of thin air, shouting frantically at Welt and Cecilia:
“Get out of here!
Quick!”
Immediately after, the girl twisted in apparent agony, vanishing into thin air the very next second.
“That was the Second Herrscher!” Welt declared with absolute certainty.
He had clearly felt the intense Honkai energy surging from that silver-haired, crimson-eyed girl!
Without a shadow of a doubt, that was the Second Herrscher!
“Cecilia, go heal Theresa and the others first!”
Welt knew that with the 6th Divine Key, Abyss Flower, Cecilia could heal Theresa and the squad in the blink of an eye.
“I’ll go after the Second Herrscher!”
With that, Welt constructed a heavy weapon, blasting right through the reinforced window glass.
Without missing a beat, he constructed an aircraft, taking to the skies to pursue the Second Herrscher toward the upper levels of Babylon Labs.
Although Cecilia felt a pang of concern about Welt facing the Second Herrscher alone, she trusted his formidable strength.
With the Second Herrscher’s human persona assisting him, he should be safe—he might even help the human persona overcome the Herrscher persona once and for all!
At that thought, Cecilia felt a wave of relief.
She immediately turned and hurried toward the 20th floor to reunite with Theresa and her team.
“Theresa!”
Stepping out of the elevator, Cecilia caught sight of Theresa’s somewhat staggering back.
Theresa was the only one on this floor.
Right now, she was pushing a handcart stacked with all kinds of medical supplies and food.
“Cecilia?!”
Theresa paused in her tracks and turned around blankly.
A look of pure delight flushed over her face as she watched Cecilia jog over.
“Cecilia, you’re finally here!” she exclaimed, genuinely happy.
“Theresa, your body…”
“Hold still, let me heal you right away!”
Seeing that Theresa’s body hadn’t recovered yet, Cecilia felt a pang of heartache and spoke up immediately.
They’re way more injured than I am.” Theresa shook her head.
“I can still recover on my own.
Sure it hurts a bit, but it’s nothing serious anymore.
Lixue and the girls took far heavier damage!
Cecilia, go save them first!”
Theresa grabbed Cecilia’s hand, ignoring her own pain as she dragged her forward briskly.
Cecilia looked ahead toward the brightly lit medical wing.
The members of the Snow Wolf Squad were all critically injured right now, confined to hospital beds in the intensive care unit.
She watched the beaming smile on Theresa’s face—it was as if Theresa was overflowing with relief at finally being able to save the rest of the squad.
Theresa didn’t seem to notice Cecilia staring at her, her eyes completely locked on the ward just up ahead.
[Maybe I’m just overthinking things.]
Ever since stepping inside Babylon Laboratory, Cecilia had felt a subtle, creeping unease in her heart, though she couldn’t pinpoint its source.
Seeing Theresa had only made that unease grow stronger, but…
that didn’t make any sense, did it?
Still, Cecilia was worried about her comrades’ injuries.
As the captain of the Snow Wolf Squad, Cecilia had long formed deep bonds of friendship with every single member.
“Captain!”
Theresa led Cecilia to the doorway of the ward.
Hearing the commotion, the severely wounded members of the Snow Wolf Squad turned their heads toward the door.
Instant joy lit up their eyes as they shouted in unison.
“Don’t worry, I’m here.” Cecilia stepped into the room.
Seeing them alive, she finally let out a sigh of relief.
She raised a hand to sweep her long silver hair behind her back, letting out a gentle, comforting smile.
“Huh?
Wait, how come I don’t see Patrick…”
And then—
Pfft!
A golden short spear suddenly drove through Cecilia’s chest from behind.
A cyan longsword plunged straight into her lower abdomen.
A crimson lance knocked Black Abyss White Flower clean out of her hand.
A stark white blade slashed into her spine.
A blue rifle pressed directly against her forehead.
“Looks like there’s nothing left for me to do,” Shigure Kira tilted her head, winking her blue eyes playfully.
And by this time, the light in Cecilia’s eyes had completely faded away.
…
“Man, mother-in-law got done dirty…
but hey, I’ll make sure to comfort her real good later.”
Ren didn’t know what Cecilia was feeling right now, but it had to be absolute despair.

Don’t tell me…
he wants to pull a mother-and-daughter combo?!] Bronya was secretly shook.jpg
