You were a child adopted at the age of twelve, and your guardian, Eden, raised you, never sparing anything when it came to providing for you—on the condition that you would forever stay by her side, because of the twisted affection she held for you.

And today, Eden kissed you forcefully right in front of your girlfriend.

Push her away?

Fall silent?

Or turn around and walk out?

Li Yedao chose an outcome no one expected.

He kissed her back, even more aggressively and roughly than she had.

His grievances ran much deeper than hers!

Eden’s eyes snapped wide open, her pupils reflecting his face up close.

Before she even had time to process what was happening, her back hit the sofa cushion, and her entire body was pinned underneath Li Yedao.

The initiative changed hands in an instant; the hands that always effortlessly controlled everything froze in mid-air, unsure whether to push him away or pull him in tight.

Not only was Eden stunned, but Elysia and Mobius not far away were left dumbfounded as well.

Elysia’s mouth stayed open, the small cookie in her hand suspended mid-air, completely forgetting to put it into her mouth: “You guys…”

Firefly, on the other hand, had her little face scrunched up into a tight ball, her knuckles turning white as she clenched her fists, her lips pressed into a thin line.

Watching her boyfriend pin another woman to the couch and kiss her, she radiated the aura of a deeply wronged woman, muttering under her breath: “We’ve clearly already done everything, yet he’s doing this right in front of me…”

Elysia turned her head in confusion, her expression instantly freezing—how was there another one here?

At the thought, she nonchalantly slid her chair half an inch toward Mobius, trying to widen the physical distance between herself and Firefly.

Mobius was staring intently at the two figures on the couch, her mind running through some less-than-optimistic simulations.

“Hey.”

“Ah!”

A finger suddenly poked her side, making her jolt and almost sweep the cup next to her onto the floor.

Upon seeing that it was Elysia, her expression rapidly shifted from alarm to speechlessness.

“Elysia, what are you doing?!”

“Mobius, what are you thinking about?” The culprit tilted her head, looking utterly innocent.

“…I’m thinking that Li Yedao’s life from now on is probably going to be quite miserable.”

Mobius wore a complicated expression.

From the moment Li Yedao’s lips collided with Eden’s, things that had been pressed beneath the surface could no longer be held back.

Mobius subtly glanced over at Elysia.

If she remembered correctly, this pink-haired girl’s attitude toward that kid far exceeded the boundaries of ordinary concern.

And还有…

Mobius thought of the other residents of the Golden Courtyard.

…

…

On the sofa, the contest had already been decided.

Li Yedao straightened up, looking down condescendingly at Eden pinned beneath him, a trace of a victor’s unique smirk hanging at the corner of his mouth: “Now you know how formidable I am.”

Eden was clutching her lips, a trace of bright red oozing from between her fingers where he had bitten her.

She didn’t wipe it away, nor did she lower her gaze; she simply looked up at him, her eyes devoid of resentment, filled instead with a nearly clumsy, cautious trepidation.

“Can you not leave now?”

Li Yedao chuckled.

“Wanting to make up with me isn’t out of the question.

Let’s see how you perform.”

Eden blinked, as if processing a completely unfamiliar vocabulary: “…Performance?”

“Right.” Li Yedao held up five fingers and ticked them off one by one: “If you want to make up with me, we need a five-point agreement.”

“Rule number one: From now on, you’re not allowed to yell at me, you’re not allowed to drug me with anything ever again, and I get the final say on everything.”

“Rule number two: I’m moving out to live on my own, and you are not allowed to interfere with my freedom.”

“Rule number three: Tear down all those surveillance devices completely, not a single one left!”

“That’s just three for now; I’ll think about the rest when I get back.”

He finished counting his three fingers, pulled his hand back, and looked down at Eden: “Did you hear that clearly?

If you can accept these, I’ll forgive you.”

The living room fell silent for several seconds.

Elysia was dumbfounded.

What kind of unequal Versailles treaty was this?

To Eden, it was crueler than taking half her life.

No spying, no controlling, no locking him by her side—every single rule struck precisely at her deepest obsessions.

Still, this actually made Elysia breathe a sigh of relief.

Being able to propose conditions meant Li Yedao still had feelings for Eden in his heart; if he truly didn’t care anymore, he wouldn’t have set foot through this door today.

Elysia reached out and tugged at Eden’s hem, her tone urgent: “Eden, hurry up and agree!

Otherwise, Yedao’s going to walk out again!”

Eden remained silent, rapidly calculating the gains and losses of agreeing versus refusing.

If she refused, she wouldn’t be able to keep Li Yedao here today; with Elysia, Mobius, and Yedao’s little girlfriend all present, keeping him by force was impossible.

If she agreed, was she really going to follow those terms one by one?

So she intended to feed Li Yedao a little white lie.

Lies were nothing new to her; as long as it meant keeping him back, she would say whatever it took.

“…I accept.”

Li Yedao was noticeably startled: “What did you say?”

He even suspected he had misheard.

Was Eden actually someone who was easy to talk to?

If so, what was the point of all those years of conflict?

“I said, I accept.” Eden repeated herself, her voice as calm as an untroubled pool of water.

“Yay!” Elysia cheered, throwing herself forward to hug Li Yedao, her long pink hair sweeping across his face: “Yedao, did you hear that!

Eden agreed!

You can come back and play with me from now on!”

The smile on her face was sweet enough to melt sugar, completely oblivious to the terrifying expressions worn by the others behind her.

Li Yedao was shaken dizzy by Elysia, reaching out to pat her back to get her to loosen her grip slightly before looking back at Eden.

His gaze lingered on her face for several solid seconds: “This time, I’ll forgive you.”

To be honest, Li Yedao still felt a bit unreal; such a dramatic resolution was completely outside his anticipated script.

Eden quietly looked back at him, her expression completely motionless.

No one knew what she was thinking.

Mobius stood not far behind Eden, deep in thought.

…

…

That evening, Li Yedao unusually chose to stay at the Golden Courtyard.

He watched with his own eyes as Eden systematically destroyed every single surveillance device, and a weight lifted from his chest.

In high spirits, he took charge of the kitchen and whipped up a large table of dishes.

At the dinner table, Elysia clutched a braised giant prawn in her left hand and a grilled chicken wing in her right, both cheeks puffed out and her mouth shiny with oil.

“Yedao’s cooking is still as good as ever!

I’ve missed this so much over the years!”

Mobius sat to the side, quietly picking at her food with a level of refinement several grades above Elysia’s, though her gaze still intermittently bounced between Li Yedao and Eden.

“Not really.” Li Yedao waved a hand.

“I haven’t cooked for myself in a long time; eating out is pretty good too.”

“No way!

From now on, Miss Elf is going to eat what you cook every single day!” Elysia put down her chicken wing and pressed her palms together, her eyes shining like twin stars.

Li Yedao didn’t take the bait.

Cook every day?

Not a chance.

Cooking a meal occasionally was nice when he was in a good mood, but standing over a stove every single day felt like a job.

He popped a piece of braised pork belly into his mouth, chewed twice, and suddenly scanned the dining table as if remembering something: “By the way, why is it just you guys today?

Where are Kosma and the others?”
