Six months had passed.
Akira and Tsuki had recognised one another as their friends from the previous world, after being able to tell each other once their larynx and voice boxes had developed enough to be able to effectively sustain communication.
Currently it was a debate between Mebzy and Baroodie as to whether or not they should inform Lady Yuna.
Though a more important topic had taken precedence.
Even though they had the minds of teenagers, they still had the bodies of babies.
She had treated them with lots of love though the constant cuddles were annoying for Akira but Tsuki was quite fond of them.
The reason for their scarce loneliness as of now is that Lady Yuna had been forced by obligation to attend the party organised by the head of general electric for the birth of his daughter and heir.
Raiden Ryoma had named his daughter Mei, and she had the same purple hair as her but darker.
Yuna felt a bit of kinship for this but that did not excuse her birth interrupting herself spending time with her babies!!
On second thought, Yuna flinched sheepishly,
‘That wasn’t the nicest of things to think…’
She looked out the black tinted limo windows as she made her way to their mansion.
‘There is a thunderstorm today…Hopefully that isn’t a bad omen for the little one’, Yuna giggled to herself slightly, thinking about Mei.
She’s grown much more adoring and sensitive to children ever since her two little bundles of joy had spawned in the solar system.
Hopefully the party wasn’t as boring as she expected!
She crossed her fingers as she slumped into the backseat.
Hopefully she’d get back home to her little boys quick!
In the meantime… they had been left alone with a maid, one of the younger ones who’d been gone to fetch a bottle of milk that Yuna had prepared earlier.
They took this opportunity to talk.
Luckily, Yuna didn’t believe in baby cameras!
“You think Azlaan or Equan got reincarnated too?”, voiced Mebzy (now Tsuki) in his babbling baby voice, as he fumbled around the cot, standing up with difficult as he gazed at Akira who had used his newfound infancy as an excuse to laze around all day in his cot.
“If they have, we definitely need to find them!”, Akira said with energy as he sat up with difficulty.
There was an answer to this.
The answer was not yet.
Back in the hospital, six months had passed.
While Equan had gotten off lightly, the light in question being PTSD and regular visits to the therapist, Azlaan had been stuck in a coma for the six months.
Had being the keyword here.
All of his friends and family were now gathered together to watch his final moments as he departed from the world.
The plug was to be pulled, the life support far too costly and the chances of revival far too low to keep him awake.
The movement shortly after the incident had exacerbated his injuries.
He should’ve laid still and stopped blood flow but he had moved in search of his friends conditions, the adrenaline masking the true extent of the injuries he had taken.
Once rushed to the hospital, he was immediately put on life support and his family called from home, yet his condition has steadily deteriorated.
And so, there it was.
A solemn ceremony with not a single smile in sight.
Tears had been dried up long ago, and his younger sister had even refused to come, having spent the previous night weeping to herself in front of the hospital bed.
Everyone had come to terms with it.
Equan sat there with emotionless, empty and listless eyes as he watched the faint and minute breathing of the person still in bed, the whirring of the machines the only sound that filled the room and that too would soon cease.
The head doctor, an aged grey haired man, whose wrinkles has only been deepened by the sad moments he had been faced with now and in the past.
It never got easier with time, ripping away the beautiful gift of life he was sworn by oath to protect, from a youth that had been full of life nought but a year ago, willingly at that.
There was no time for last words, for no one had received that privilege.
Equan sat with heavy listless eyes as the doctor cut off power to the machine with a sad, long and deep sigh, and the oxygen that indicated life slowly left the teenagers body.
Equan watched and quickly removed himself from the room.
Many tears would have escaped his tear ducts that night.
[Reincarnation cycle started: 3rd Soul Accepted]
There he stood on the edge of the roof, contemplating the life he had led so far as he peered down at the ground from the the stories up he stood.
Breathing heavily a she looked down upon the ground.
‘Everyone who’s ever been my friend has died.
Whats even the point of living anymore?’
He stood upon the edge, contemplating life and the uselessness of living.
He was a firm believer of nihilism after all.
Though he was still in hesitance.
The choice was made for him.
A male nurse reached the rooftop having spotted him from the courtyard.
The name-tag on his outfit said ‘Kryll Kryolite’
Kryll had been present in the room when the life support was extinguished and watched as the flames left the boy’s body.
Seeing the empty listless eyes of Equan, he had chosen to follow him yet had been distracted by a few tasks that had been assigned to him.
Minor ones like ER reports and documents that needed to be delivered.
He rushed towards the rooftop, panting heavily as he climbed the stairs desperately.
He tripped but used his hands to balance himself on the stairs.
He knocked his head against the wall, and his teeth hit the tip of his tongue, splattering blood inside of his mouth, a metallic tang dripping down his throat, sticking to the walls.
Yet Kryll continued upwards.
‘I’ve already seen one life fade today…I won’t let another slip away!’
He brute forced open the double doors leading to the rooftops and desperately rushed forward into the light.
‘You there…!
Stop!’
Seeing the hospital worker rushing towards him, the choice was made for Equan.
There was no doubt to the matter that this would he considered attempted suicide.
In the country that he lived in, suicide was a penalised offence.
He was sure that it came with jail time, though he was unaware of how much.
His family hated him anyways, he doubt that they’d miss him.
‘They’d probably try to cover up my death as much as possible, having a small funeral to fulfil obligations and maintain their reputations.
That’s all they ever cared about anyways’, Equan thought bitterly as he mind darkened even more.
As he watched Kryll run towards him, yelling desperately for him to stop, his thoughts were quite contradictory.
‘Everyone who would’ve truly mourned my death is already gone.
Might as well go with them.
Perhaps, with any luck god exists and I’ll see them in heaven.
That is if I make it there.’
Kryll yelled out.
“Stop!
You have so much to live for!”
“I wish that were true.
But there’s no one like that left in this world.
You saw the last one leave right with me….”
He paused for a moment, then hesitantly stuttered out his request.
“Do me a favour, would you?”, he spoke out timidly.
Kryll’s eyes gained a hint of hope.
If he was voicing his request and he fulfilled this plea of his…perhaps that would grant him a reason to keep living?
It was a nonsensically desperate thought that any person in their right mind wouldn’t have.
Wouldn’t even consider.
What he should’ve done was slowly approach him while talking continuously and hearing out his request.
But Kryll wasn’t in his right mind.
He was young and inexperienced, in his late twenties at most.
He had no idea how to stop a suicide, so he simply stopped in his tracks, halting movement completely as he eagerly awaited the request.
”
Any-Anything!”, He rasped out, unable to form words properly due to cutting off the tip of his tongue.
Though that didn’t stop the glimmer of joy in his eyes.
He was going to be a hero!
Saving someone’s life.
Equan turned around to face him, his back towards the courtyard and his front facing Kryll.
At this point, no one else had seen them, too busy inside the hospital.
Even then, there were few people, since it was a Sunday.
He flashed him a sad smile
“When they bury me…make sure that they use a cloth made from a mixture of my friends clothing.
They’ll come with me”
Equan was proud of himself for that.
Very poetic, wasn’t it?
Kryll’s hope flickered at that, and he made to speak, but was interrupted once more.
Yet he made no movement forward.
That was his second mistake.
“Oh and engrave on the grave ‘The sorrows of this world overwhelmed him”, He spoke with a sad smile.
Although he hadn’t smiled much for the past months, he at least wanted to die with one on his face.
He said this and allowed himself to fall backwards with a hop, and then gravity barrelled him downwards.
Time slowed.
The cawing of crows slowed down as he fell.
Equan had one predominant thought as he fell towards his death, as he looked upon the orange skies and gently floating cumulonimbus clouds.
‘The world…seems so peaceful right now.
For the first time ever’
And then scarlet scorched the ground.
The beautiful death made the suns splendour seem dim in comparison.
Kryll fell to his knees, and a sob wrecked his visage.
A magnificent symphony of woes sprung forth from that moment as well as a stone monument by the mental health wing.
Equan’s expectations were exceeded.
He would at least be remembered if not mourned.
