Chapter 1: The Transmigration and the Genius
[Prologue: The Survey]
‘I really should have known better.’
I was just a normal corporate slave, working day and night to scrape together a decent life.
Monotone didn’t even begin to cover it.
In what little free time I had, I fell hard into otaku culture watching anime, reading manga, and sinking hundreds of hours into gacha and video games.
Then came the email.
Title: R.O.B.
Isekai Wish Fulfillment
Curious about what kind of absurd prank someone was trying to pull, I opened the link in an incognito window like any sensible IT guy would.
The website looked like a cheap copy of an old school 4chan board, complete with a logo featuring tentacles, a massive gate, and floating bubbles.
Whoever designed it was definitely suffering from a terminal case of chuunibyou.
Shrugging it off, I clicked on the questionnaire just to see how far the joke went.
Question 1: What World do you want to Reincarnate in?
After pondering for a few minutes, I typed: Honkai: Star Rail.
Not a bad universe to explore, all things considered.
Question 2: Select the 3 powers you want.
Thinking carefully about peak efficiency, I answered:
1st.
All powers, abilities, and Core upgrades of Kiana Kaslana from Honkai Impact 3rd.
2nd.
Infinite Formless Magic, allowing me to wield any form of energy without physical backlash.
3rd.
A mental consciousness built like Manas Ciel from Tensura.
‘Why not make Honkai enter the cosmic stage where the whole universe bears its name?’
Question 3: Target Identity for the New Life.
Answer: Kiana Kaslana.
‘Why not prank Uncle Yang and make him question his sanity?
It’s not like I’m actually going to turn into a brainless Tuna.’
Question 4: Select the list of Weapons you want.
Answer: All 13 Divine Keys from Honkai Impact 3rd, and the Gate of Babylon from the Fate Series.
‘Raining down weapons on the Antimatter Legion while calling them mongrels sounds like peak entertainment.’
After I hit submit on the final prompt, a glaring banner flashed across the screen:
[Enjoy your new life!]
Before I could even blink, a massive wave of dizziness slammed into my brain.
My vision went completely black, and my body collapsed onto the desk.
[Location: Unknown Galaxy – Secluded Laboratory]
[POV: Ruan Mei]
I was deep into my research regarding the Emanator of Propagation when a localized spatial distortion suddenly tore through the air of my laboratory.
Instinctively, I prepared a defensive array to eliminate any potential threat.
However, as the spatial rupture collapsed, an injured, white-haired girl tumbled out and fell onto the floor.
I immediately scanned the surrounding coordinates for pursuers, but found no trace of any lingering entity.
After transferring the girl into a medical pod to stabilize her condition, I uncovered an anomaly: her body was constantly emitting a unique form of energy that did not align with any known Path in the cosmos.
My curiosity was thoroughly piqued.
Her passive regeneration rate was remarkably high at this velocity, she would likely regain consciousness within the hour.
I initiated a deep structural analysis of her energy signature.
The preliminary results were fascinating.
Her energy demonstrated an extraordinary capacity to adapt to and assimilate aspects of any Path it encountered.
In some respects, it mimicked Nihility, yet it was fundamentally distinct at its core.
Déjà vu washed over me in an instant.
‘This energy…
I had definitely felt it before.’
How intriguing.
Hopefully, she wakes up soon to offer some answers.
[POV: Kiana Kaslana]
My eyelids fluttered open.
As my vision cleared, I found myself encased in a high-tech medical pod that looked like it belonged on a capital starship.
‘Where am I?
How did I end up in here?’
I scanned the surroundings through the reinforced glass it was clearly a top tier laboratory.
As I began contemplating how to break open the latch, a calm, soft voice echoed from nearby.
I turned inside the pod toward the source and spotted a woman in an elegant researcher’s coat standing by a floating console.
My breath hitched.
I recognized her instantly: Ruan Mei, Member #81 of the Genius Society.
‘F*cking hell…
I actually got isekai’d into Star Rail.
I really shouldn’t have filled out that stupid survey.
Sigh.
Whatever, what’s done is done.
Survival comes first.’
The pod unsealed with a soft hiss, allowing me to step out.
I immediately ran a quick internal diagnostic, checking my hands, limbs, and energy flow.
Everything felt completely fine.
Ruan Mei observed me quietly before speaking.
“It seems you are awake.
Are you experiencing any discomfort?”
“No, I feel fine,” I replied smoothly, keeping my voice steady before pressing for information.
“Who are you?
Where am I, and how did I get here?”
“I am Ruan Mei, Member #81 of the Genius Society,” she answered calmly.
“You are currently inside my laboratory.
You fell out of a spatial distortion in a severely injured state.”
While processing her answer, I inwardly panicked, trying to figure out why that damn survey dropped me into the universe already half-dead.
Ruan Mei stepped closer, her pale eyes scanning me.
“Are you able to tell me who you are, and what caused your injuries?”
“My name is Kiana Kaslana,” I answered carefully.
“I…
don’t remember how I was injured, or why I was teleported to your lab.”
She glanced down at a nearby terminal screen.
“Do you recall anything about your background?”
“No, everything is a blur,” I lied effortlessly.
“I don’t remember my past at all, other than my name and a few basic combat instincts.”
Meeting my gaze, Ruan Mei remarked softly, “Retrograde amnesia is a common symptom after sustaining physical trauma of that magnitude.”
Taking immediate advantage of the cover story, I asked her about the current state of the universe and whether I could remain in the lab temporarily while I gathered my bearings.
She provided a brief overview of the cosmos, the Paths, and the Aeons, ultimately granting me permission to stay under the explicit condition that I cooperate with her research regarding my unique energy signature.
Without a second thought, I accepted the deal.
