The Wither Skeleton lost its balance and was dragged in front of Lux, falling face-first.
The black bones hit the Nether bricks with a dull thud.
The two Wither Skeletons in the distance looked down at their companion, their blue flames flickering, seemingly not yet understanding what had happened.
Lux seized the opportunity to step forward.
While the Wither Skeleton hadn’t yet gotten up, she struck several times in a row, scattering the black bones all over the floor.
The blue flames extinguished, leaving only white bones and some experience orbs on the ground.
The remaining two Wither Skeletons finally came to their senses and charged over, raising their stone swords simultaneously.
Their movements were faster than she had imagined, and their stone swords whistled through the air.
Lux raised her shield, blocking the strike from the left.
With a “clang,” the impact left her arm numb and the web of her thumb trembling slightly.
The strike from the right came from the side; she dodged sideways, the blade grazing her ear and shaving off two fox hairs.
She took the opportunity to thrust her iron sword into the Wither Skeleton’s ribs.
The blade scraped across the black bones with a piercing, grating sound, like fingernails on a chalkboard.
The Wither Skeleton’s body swayed but didn’t fall, and it swung its stone sword back in a counterattack.
Lux jumped back, creating some distance.
Her boot slipped on the Nether brick, but she managed to steady herself.
“Pretty tough.” She pulled a few blocks of stone from her inventory and quickly stacked a low wall in front of her, leaving only a small gap in the middle.
The two Wither Skeletons clearly lacked the intelligence to figure it out, crowding through the gap one after another.
This was exactly what Lux was waiting for.
She raised her shield to take a hit, then retaliated with a sword strike, blocked again, and counterattacked.
Lux kept up this rhythm until she killed the lead Wither Skeleton.
But the one behind followed closely, landing a blow on Lux’s shoulder.
Lux braced herself for the pain, gritting her teeth—but the expected sharp pain never came.
No pain.
No wound.
No blood.
She looked down at her shoulder—not even her clothes were torn.
Meanwhile, at the edge of her vision, the health bar silently dropped by three points.
Lux was stunned.
The last Wither Skeleton, taking advantage of her daze, struck her again.
Still no pain, only the sensation of impact.
Her health dropped another 3 points.
Lux finally regained her senses, dispatched the last Wither Skeleton with a sword strike, and then leaned against the wall, panting heavily.
She looked down at her arm and touched the spot where she had been hit.
The skin was smooth, without any scars.
“My body…
has been digitized?” In this Nether, in this dimension that belonged to MC, had her body truly turned into a digital entity like in the game?
Where taking damage only deducts health, without injury, without bleeding, without pain?
Lux reached out and pressed her finger hard against her arm.
It didn’t hurt.
There wasn’t even a red mark.
“This ability…
is actually quite convenient.” Lux breathed a sigh of relief; she didn’t have to worry about getting hurt anymore.
She pulled a steak from her inventory, swallowed it in a few bites, and refilled her hunger bar.
Her health began to slowly recover, but because the Wither effect was still active, her health could only be maintained.
She leaned against the wall, ate another steak, and waited for the Wither effect to end and her health to fill up before preparing to set off again.
“Alright, since I won’t feel pain, what else do I have to be afraid of?” Lux clapped her hands, grabbed her shield and sword again, and continued walking forward.
Her steps were much lighter than before.
The following corridors were a bit wider, and stairs leading upward appeared on both sides.
Lux went up the stairs on the left and harvested the Nether Wart planted on both sides of the stairs.
With Nether Wart, she could brew potions.
Potions of Strength, Fire Resistance, Healing…
these things were key to survival in the Nether and in future adventures.
She heard the crackling of Blazes upstairs.
She would just go straight to killing the Blazes to get Blaze Rods.
There were four Blazes on the second floor, along with a Blaze spawner in the center.
The Blazes hovered in the air, their bodies composed of rotating Blaze rods, surrounded by flame particles.
The moment they saw Lux enter, all four Blazes turned toward her, the flames on their bodies flaring up brightly.
Then, they began to fire fireballs.
One fireball after another, trailing orange-red flames, flew toward Lux at high speed, leaving scorching trails in the air.
Lux instinctively raised her shield—but the shield’s durability was low, and it would break after just a few hits.
Lux had to rely on the most dangerous method: parrying with her sword.
Her blade precisely struck the fireball, and it flew off to the side like a tennis ball hit by a racket.
“It worked!” Lux’s eyes lit up.
A second fireball flew toward her, and she swung her sword to deflect it again.
Then the third, the fourth.
She swung her sword frantically, like playing ping-pong, deflecting the fireballs back one after another.
Soon, Lux approached the four Blazes.
Seizing the opportunity, she rushed forward, jumped up, and slashed at the nearest Blaze.
Taking advantage of the Blazes’ skill cooldown, she hacked away for dear life.
Soon, the first Blaze let out a sharp hiss, dissipated into a puff of sparks, and left a Blaze Rod rolling on the ground.
The remaining three Blazes tried to resist, but Lux was already in close quarters.
She repeated her previous tactic, neatly and cleanly taking care of them.
The hall quieted down, leaving only a few Blaze Rods and scattered flame particles on the floor.
Lux quickly mined the spawner, then picked up the Blaze Rods and counted them—seven.
Added to the ones she had picked up in the corridor earlier, she now had over a dozen.
“That’s enough for me to make potions.” She put the Blaze Rods into her inventory and looked around, discovering a chest on the path not far away.
Lux walked over and opened the treasure chest—inside were some gold ingots, diamonds, and an Enchanted Book of Protection II.
Lux swept the contents of the chest clean and continued forward, completely satisfied.
