It just nodded slightly, without saying anything more.

“How many gold ingots do you have?”

Lux felt a sense of relief and hurriedly started pulling gold ingots out of her inventory.Full novel: Honkai Star Rail: Reborn as Tingyun, But My Build Is Completely Broken — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

One stack.

Some of these gold ingots were crafted from gold nuggets, and some were opened from treasure chests.

All in all, they added up to exactly one stack, sixty-four.

Lux held the gold ingots in her hands, the golden metal shining under the firelight, piled up like a small mountain.

The Chieftain’s gaze lingered on the gold ingots for a second, then it nodded.

“How do you want to trade?”

Lux thought about it.

“One netherite Upgrade template, and trade the rest for netherite Scraps.”

The Chieftain didn’t speak.

It stood up from the throne.

Only then did Lux realize how tall it was—estimated to be at least two and a half meters, standing in front of her like a small mountain.

Its shadow enveloped Lux completely, and she had to crane her neck to see its face.

The Chieftain walked down from the throne and pulled two items out of a stone chest beside the throne.

A metal template, its surface carved with complex patterns, with a dull silver luster flowing under the firelight.

A small pile of dark-colored scraps, each piece not very big, with a rough surface, but faintly exuding a metallic texture.

netherite Upgrade template.

netherite Scraps.

The Chieftain stepped forward and handed the items to her.

Lux took them and checked the quantity.

Thirty-two scraps.

She was stunned.

Thirty-two?

The stack of gold ingots in her hand was sixty-four; based on this quantity, that meant two gold ingots for one scrap?

That cheap? New chapters come out on g.com first.

Lux quickly did the math in her head—one netherite Ingot requires four netherite Scraps and four gold ingots to craft; a full set of netherite armor requires four ingots, which is sixteen scraps plus sixteen gold ingots.

Sixteen scraps only need thirty-two gold ingots.

Does that mean forty-eight gold ingots are enough to gather the materials for a full set of netherite armor?

Lux’s tail wagged unconsciously, and she couldn’t keep the corners of her mouth from curling up.

Profit, profit, profit.

She carefully put the scraps and the template into her inventory, and just as she was about to say some words of thanks—

The Chieftain’s nose suddenly twitched, as if it had caught some special scent in the air.

The Chieftain’s golden eyes narrowed, and the flames in its pupils jumped.

It stared at Lux, its gaze sharper than before, as if it were re-evaluating her.

“Why do you have their scent on you?”

Their scent?

Lux scratched her head, her mind blank.

Whose scent?

Silver Wolf’s?

No, even if it were, what would be so surprising about Silver Wolf’s scent?

“What scent?” Lux asked curiously.

The Chieftain’s nose twitched again, as if confirming something.

Its expression became serious, and its voice was a few degrees deeper than before.

“The Illager Patrol.”

Illager?

Lux’s brain overloaded for a long time, and she finally figured it out.

Illagers, huh.

The only thing on her that had anything to do with “Illagers” was that Totem of Undying.

The Totem of Undying was dropped by creatures of the Illager faction, and the Illager Patrol were creatures of the Illager faction.

But Lux remembered, wasn’t this from the Eidolon mod?

Besides, she didn’t have any soul energy on her; she hadn’t unlocked the Eidolon mod yet, so the only thing related to the Illagers was probably that Totem of Undying. Follow the newest chapters on g.com.

Could the Totem of Undying have residual Illager scent on it?

“They will hunt down any creature that touches that scent.” The Chieftain’s voice was very calm, but every word sounded like it was popping out of stone.

“You had better be careful.”

Lux nodded.

“Okay, thank you for the reminder.

I will be careful.”

The Chieftain looked at her, silent for a second.

Then it turned around, walked back to the throne, and sat down.

“Go.”

Lux was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly bowed.

“Thank you, Chieftain!”

She turned and walked quickly out of the hall, her tail swaying behind her.

The Piglins behind her were still busy with their own affairs; no one spared her another glance.

When Lux walked out of the hall, she couldn’t help but look back.

The Chieftain sat on the throne, its golden eyes half-closed, as if napping.

But the instant Lux turned around, its eyes opened a slit again, watching Lux’s figure disappear around the corner.

The Chieftain was silent for a long time.

Then it muttered to itself, its voice so low that even the Piglins nearby couldn’t hear it clearly.

“Is it related to an Apostle…”

Its nose twitched again, as if catching the residual scent in the air.

“Or that one even higher up…

Apocalypse Famine…”

The furnace lamp in the hall flickered, and the firelight flashed a dark red light across the Chieftain’s golden crown.

It might not seem tempting right now but who knows what the future holds?

“And If you’re enjoying it, drop a Power Stone for me!”
